Just a quickie question for Jason B-man....when are we gonna see it? I am anxious to see what you guys have done.
Excellent work thus far and don't take this as a pressuring post. Take your time and get it right. I have total faith in you guys.

Yeah, my PBP test has a druid in it, and I kinda want him to convert his stats ASAP

The Bumpty dance is your chance to do the Bump.

A few days ago, he said he'll be grinding on that bad hog, so he might not be able to answer a lot of board questions real quicklike.

There are draft copies floating around the office right now, for editing. Jason still has a couple of gorgons to slay before he puts a lid on Release 2, but my guess is late next week.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks Erik!

Speaking of Alpha 2 ... do you know if the PDF will just be of the NEW material, or will it contain the material already in Alpha 1?

I ask because I printed out Alpha 1 and threw it in a 3 ring binder. I'm curious if I can just print out Alpha 2 and add it to that binder.

As I think about it, I'm guessing that Alpha 2 will contain the Alpha 1 material as well, since the new classes etc would have to be added to the correct places within the document?

Dark Archive

Grr, he needs to hurry. I want to start a playtest, but I'd like to give my players more options than just the base four classes.

Dark Archive

Someone needs to cast haste on Jason, repeatedly.

Anyone have a system that casts haste on Jason until he gets Alpha 2 done?

start them as 3.5 classes using PFRPG skills and feats... then convert them when Alpha 2 comes out. Since I'm guessing that the skills might have revamp in that anyway (its one of those things people have said they are working on) so everyone wil have to convert part of their characters

I did, but it got eratta'ed out :(

Man another week and half what am I going to do on my Workmans Comp leave this week and next (already read pathfinder 1-6)

I know the frustration. My favored class is not coming out until the finish with the tweaks on the last freebie. I will DL Alpha 2 to see what they are doing with Barbarians, Druids and Sorcerers but I mainly play Rangers. With luck AR2 will give a glimmer of what to expect.

So Jason. How much longer we gotta wait. Erik said a draft was floating around a week ago.... What's up, brother?

Lives are at stake, hapless NPCs need saving, Fake Healer needs to make a PC for my pbp... GO, GO, GO!

You're not sleeping are you? (sees Jason posted 3 hours ago)

Checks out phonebook for J Bulmahns.

Crap.

A release date for sometime this week was implied.

Late next week he said last week.....Alrighty then...I promise to buy something else from Paizo immediately if I can get sorcerer info by Wednesday. Please? Pretty please with beer on top? Come on, do ya know how hard it is to get down at begging level in armor and a kilt? For Fakey?

Damn.

Damn.

With ya, Fake Healer. I'm playing a sorcerer myself and going crazy over the wait. Seriously, I checked the site to see first thing after I woke up if it was out this morning and yesterday, and will probably do so every morning until it is released. Its slightly obsessive but dangit I want the new rules! ASAP!

*Waits impatiently*

Why are you guys in such a rush.. until you play R1 and know if things in it work or not, how do you know R2 is going to be all you hope it is?

Simple, I in a rush because I playing said Sorcerer this weekend I would kill to have it re-done in the new Alpha 2 rules for the game. :P

Yeah, what he(?) said. My six-person playest starts Friday, and the skill points and classes together are kind of important.

Plus, I have played R1 some, and I want to keep moving forward...

SirUrza wrote:

The missing classes is one of the things that is holding our group back from implementing the Alpha rules for testing. It isn't really fair for the wizards and rogues to get cool new abilities/powers/etc. while the druid in the group is left with his old class rules.

Of course, I'm not sure what we are going to do about the Lurk, Swordsage, or Artificer in the group since they will never be updated (non-OGL). Why can't eveyone just play the normal character classes????

I spent a good part of the weekend proofing the Alpha 2 document, and my understanding is that it is going over to our design department by the end of the day. My best prediction, at this point, is late this week or possibly early next, depending on numerous factors.

In any event, damn soon.

If the Paizo staff was to receive a some pizzas, say...oh, tomorrow, would that maybe possibly bump Alpha 2 to a Friday release?

I'm desperate.

Since I will not be at work tomorrow... no, it will not help you. I work from home most days to save on the commute time.

But since you're working at home, we can send you any type of bribe or incentive, without worrying about whether it is work appropriate.

So, what do you want? Is your shipping/delivery address listed in the phone book?

I would think sending him strippers would only delay Alpha 2. :)

I have to agree with SirUrza on this one. Just be patient and let JB do what he does best at his own pace.

I would suggest that Jason could give us his home address so we could send him some pizzas, but that sounds like a REALLY bad idea. :)

Have you seen Jason in person? I'd bet on him against even a whole mob of impatient gamers. Heck, I used to see him defeat mobs of impatient gamers all the time at Wisconsin conventions. :)

Pizza delivering strippers with good copy editing skills dressed in protective goalie gear. So, Combo #3. I'm on it.

If he's going to have Strippers and Pizza, he's going to get thirsty. So he needs beer.

Strippers, pizza, and beer... are we sure we're trying to get revision 2 out early?

Wow.. that sounds great.. but SirUrza is right, this means that you will not be getting release 2 on time. That said, release 2 was handed over to layout today. Hoping to get this release into your greedy hands late this week or early next...

So wait, no stripper factory for them?

Is this how we show love here?

I'm betting on the 18th. Wasn't that when Alpha 1 was released?

I'm salivating at the thought of next AR. I really appreciated the first, and hearing that the skill system has been reworked (the only thing I didn't like) is great news.
Then there's four more classes, spells, and stuff... *drool*

Ah, but which four new classes? Care to drop another teaser, Mr. Buhlmahn?

Ryn, who hopes for bard/ranger/druid/monk

It says in Alpha Release 1 that they will be the Druid, Sorcerer, Paladin and Barbarian. Sorry, but most of the ones you want will be coming in AR3. Then again, that just means they have all the more time to perfect them.

Man, I'm trying to convert over my existing Pathfinder group, but I have a friggin' MONK in the party. I have to wait for Alpha 3 to do a full conversion!

Looking forward to Alpha 2. I had created a barbarian for a RotR game which used the Whirling Frenzy variant, but if you have removed the Rage X/day mechanic then thats really not viable anymore.

Looking forward to Alpha 2 so I can actually play my character.

Good job so far with the game though.

Dark Archive

As much as I'm looking forward to new material in the Alpha Release 2, I'm interested to see the tweaks and changes, and how much our playtest feedback has fed into the changes.

Specifically, I'm interested in seeing how much change is based on playtest data, and how much change is based on opinionating. I've offered both types of feedback, and I'm interested to see how much of a flow the rules have as-is.

Of course, I've been thrilled with some of the innovative changes Jason has made, and I'm interested to see what else crawls out of his brain ...

The Alpha is about testing the rules, not converting people over. Kill the monk and start a new character. :P

If he's an angry, illiterate monk, you could just use the stats for the barbarian instead.

Hope that helped.

Well, um. He is angry and he is illiterate.
