Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Is this the cover of Escape from Old Korvosa? because it is awesome...

I missed a possible drug reference?

It's not a hookah. It's a sports drink.

Sports drink? Can I join the football team please?

I can't wait for the rakshasha avatars. Zootcat need a good feline avatar. Meow.

I think that guy is running a cathouse!

It had to be said.

This is the opening illo for Pathfinder #9's article about rakshasas. And although this one's got a tiger head... don't get used to them ALL having tiger heads!

James man that's just sweet.

It looks like a Panther Rakshasa to me?

Sovereign Court

I like the black elf - mostly they're either paler than pearls or they're drow (black as pitch). Elves who evolved in hot places is a nice change.

What's up with the dancing girl's hands though? They're ot just backwards, they're an optical illusion!

I also loved seeing the black elf was some of the out of the box thinking i've come to love from you guys.

My 3 year old just walked up and saw the picture. "Bad ladies" she said. Then there was a long pause and she said "bad kitty cat."

"Yes, very bad," I replied.

Rakshasa are just horrible>)

You were looking at the rakshasha? :)

I still have fond memories of the Flamenco Elves of Glantri. ^.^

She's a Rakshasa too. "A closer look at a rakshasa reveals that the palms of its hands are where the backs of the hands would be on a human" - from the SRD.

Lucky kitty indeed.

Great artwork. I am loving Ben Wotten's work, the more I see the more I like. That said anyone else think the fingers on the female rakshasa dancer just look weird. They look a bit more like claws in their structure. Also I swear that the fingers on the right hand look like they have one more joint than they should. Then again that maybe m just being nit-picky.

Rakshasa hands are indeed weird. The fingers bend backwards, away from the palm, so that when a rakshasa makes a fist, its palm is exposed. And on top of that, they do have claw attacks, so both observations are correct.

Ahh cool didn't realise that. Always thought that their hands were just like ours just the other way round. Didn't realise they were supposed to be claw like and have the palms on th wrong side and everything. Thanks for clearing that up. Ohh and more Ben Wooden if you please.

[dirty mind]That's no hookah that they're sucking on, my friend.[/dirty mind]

Reminds me of that Tiger Mask PrC from Dragon; shame that's not OGL I bet it'd fit in great.

My wife was warming a little to D&D when I had her roll up some stats for the "Roll 3d6, six times, in order" Gary Gygax tribute thread and she rolled up a 17 charisma. I think I almost had her there. Then, she saw this pic and had the same reaction as Kruelaid's 3 year old daughter "bad ladies, bad kitty cat".

My 8-year-old boy has been asking me to visit the Paizo website again and again. :-)

They're so adorable.

Dark Archive

I actualy like that they are sexy, and not size zero, makes a change in any artwork now-adays.

These are the firt naked women ever to make my desktop background. Well Done!

The black elf though, is she an elf, or half elf? i seem to remember a Golarion elf shouldn't have whites in her eyes, and I would expect slightly longer ears.....Either way, nice tats*.

Spoiler:
* - For once not a typo, you dirty, dirty person

The dark skinned lady is half elf, and leaning towards her human heritage a little more strongly.

Backwards hands were the bane of my life during this article, making them look backwards and not "wrong" was tricky and just plain weird:)

Standard D&D Rakshasas do just have their hands on backwards. Golarion Rakshasas, on the other hand, apparently make it even creepier. Good show, Paizo crew.

I'm sure you've managed it Ben all your other artwork for paizo has been topnotch.

I like these Rakshasa guys. Sitting around smoking a hooka with attractive women of various races is pretty much the reason I moved to New York City.

HA! I can imagine. That said, I think you did a great job on them, Ben! And I think we've rakshasad ourselves out with this Pathfinder, so there probably won't be a lot more being ordered by us in the immediate future... :-)

I've ordered art for I don't know how many rakshasas over the past several years, and seen even more art ordered for them for other sources, and those backwards hands have always been a problem. They're just so fundamentally WRONG that they really make those guys look creepy in a way that isn't immediately obvious.

I think the darkskinned girl has rakshasa blood. Look at her nose. It looks bestial, like a cat's. The whole face has a bestial quality.
