I'm gonna turn in early, on account of I'm on call; I might get called out at 2 a.m. or whatever and thus check in, otherwise I'll check the action in the morning.
Elgan, and I assume Gittik moves to engage the wizard; whatever he wants to do....I'll make their next attacks after that.

Happy with the last bossfight!
My aim was to stick with a 4th level illusionist and two gnolls like in the original module...I just had to testosternoe the gnolls up a level of ranger each. I didn't think I could give you guys a decent final battle with a squishy little wizard and a pair of hyenaheads, but I think it worked out allright.
How ironic that the final bossfight happens in room #1--the first room the party sees as they enter the house (unless they go in one of the sidedoors...) Totally bassackward! lol!

I don't do wizards too much, so it was stressful.
My usual chain-of-events would be:
FIREBALL!
WIZARD CHOPPED ON SOME.
LIGHTNINGBOLT!
or maybe
KELGORE'S FIERY BOLT OF WHATEVER!!!
WIZARD CHOPPED TO DEATH.
I had to figure out how the hell to get people in range for a color spray in a world where arrows and combat wands pwn the battlefield.

185 so far.
Been at it since 1979, dropped out for 9 or 10 years during 1st-2nd edition (still read alot of stuff but no playing), then got back in and still going. Put me down for 20 years.

Heathy - I'm looking at the Summon Monster II monster list, and the creature I like the best is the Fiendish Large Scorpion. However, Altai doesn't speak Infernal or Abyssal. So, would you mind using the spell to summon a Celestial Large Scorpion?
They use poison. Poison is considered evil in D&D, hence no Celestial poisonous vermin.
Heathy can rule differently however, but that is how it usually is.

Aha!! I always wondered about why certain beasties were always fiendish. While I agree that poisoning your weapon is probably a rather dubious act, I think it is silly that a naturally poisonous animal is automatically considered evil - especially when I can summon a Celestial Giant Bee, which just happens to have a venomous stinger.
Having said that, I'm perfectly happy to stick with the summoning lists as they are. The language barrier is no big deal - I can't give fancy commands, just "point and attack" if I can't talk to the monster. Most times, that's no big deal.

Actually I've been trying to figure out some different summons for my dude in Kruelaid's game and decided that I would just use the stats from the summons and assign them to different creatures, like a Celestial Fox instead of Dog, Celestial Peccory(desert and scrub-land boar) instead of a celestial badger...that type of thing.

First of all, I just wanted to say 'thanks!' to you all.
I'm in a bit of a stressful time with both me and my wife's work, end of school (wifes a teacher, I work at a university) Yada, yada, yaga, anyway,... lot's of stress (trying to keep up with 5 different PbP probably NOT helping any!) :D
So when I logged in this morning to catch up on my page and half of reading in the game thread, Well, I haven't laughed so hard in a while.
So thanks, I needed that! ;P
I think that this is shaping up to be even more fun than I thought it would be! (And I'm an optimistic thinker!)
Thanks for letting the guy who hasn't figured out if he's happier as an Elf or a Cat tag along for the ride! Looking forward to Saving Saltmarsh with the rest of you!

This adventure rocks! please tell me there is a Kuo-Toa
cell in our future or at least a Kuo Toa pimp!
btw Heathy this adventure caused such a stir in my imagination that I'm in the design progress of using the three original U modules-This will bridge as a lead into the Savage Tide AP(Also tweeked)-However I'm cutting out the lizardmen from U2 have been stomped by displaced troglodytes at the Kou Toa arrival...
Sahuagin U3 having been stomped on by a Kou Toa Dagon cult now taking over Saltmarshes noble houses with thralls and snitchbacks. Sanbalet gonna be a thrall of Dagon wizard/cleric...And several of your cool ass creations including Zombie shark puppet/Merrow.
Thanks-for the creative surge dude....

+2 weapons also defeat DR /silver
+3 weapons also defeat DR /silver and DR /cold iron
+4 weapons beat DR /any special material except adamantine
+5 weapons beat any special material DR (including adamantine).
Kirth Gersen suggested this; from Monte Cook sort of...
does this sound like a groovy idea?
(not that it would matter for a few months...)

There we go. 205 years of gaming between most of us... without Alex. Alex?

Well, it requires more bookkeeping, which might not be a great idea. I also quite like the idea that the special materials are necessary, for example you need a good and cold iron weapon for some very nasty outsiders, and this rides roughshod over that, elimiating some flavour ("Great heroes, you must seek out the Sword of Gorbals Jake to pierce the beast's hide." "Screw that! I've got a +4 greataxe - where is the thing's lair again?"). Given that, by the time you have a +5 weapon, you are blitzing tons of damage already, it seems a little superfluous to have it rub out the DR too, and certainly unkind to the victims (who might have a tough enough time trying to survive as it is - DMs beware of rules like these).

Yeah guys, loving this game - great stuff from DM and players alike.
Um, I kinda caught some of those spoilers, but didn't totally get it - will resist re-reading.
I tend to agree with Aubrey on the DR thing ... it can be a b!tch for players sometimes, and you risk doing the thing where everyones carting around a truckload of weapons of different materials, but I kind of like the flavour of it.
