Wait - I just found out there is a huge multinational money grab conspiracy happening soon! Year 2007 has been working just fine for me. Now I hear that version 2008 is coming out and I will have to buy all new calendars and organizers. Don't they realize how angry that will make some people. Why can't we just keep 2007 and add a few house rules? I guess I will just stick with 2007 as long as I can. I have not even seen 2008 yet, but I can only speculate that it will render all my 2007 info useless.
(Very much tougue in cheek)
Happy New Year everyone!
Lori

I heard that Paizo hasn't even seen the 2008 calendar yet. If that's true than this whole thread may be unnecessary because y'all know you'll stay in 2007 until Paizo tells you it is 2008. I heard they may even skip 2008 and wait for 2009. (I know they have a lot of ideas for 2008 but some of it sounded very tentative).
Do we have any confirmation that Paizo is running with 2008 at all?

I don't know what you people are complaining about. You're already changers.
My group is still using 1983, and we're perfectly satisfied with it.
Please excuse the purple Ditto masters.
Dude, that Big Brother junk never happened. It was just a novel, or a splatbook or something.

2007 or 2008-- it doesn't matter. It's MY year and I'll do what I want with it. Personally, I think I'll stick with '07 but steal all the good parts of '08. My group has been using a homebrewed 2007.5 with a few dates copped from '03 and '06.
Zootcat. Call it what you want but if you put together a mishmash of stuff from different years, you aren't really playing the real game. That kind of thinking just lends itself munchkinism. Can you imagine using mortgage rates from 2006 in 2008! Talk about Monty-haulism!!

No problem. I'll just increase the CR of the dates I throw at my players.

It's FUN Club.

I heard they're making yard gnomes a "core race" in 2008! And changing their name to "lawnies"! Clearly 2008 will be crap. I am never buying that s%%$.

Well, call me a traitor, but I just had to go and buy a 2008 calendar. Had to see what the changes were before I could fully comment, you know. I know, I know...buying this thing just encourages them to produce more changes in the future. But I don't want to be left behind... Ah, the peer pressure. I've even adopted some of the revisions in my home game. (Dated that check I wrote today 01/02/08.) Can't go back now.

They say that it's impossible to convert between 2007 and 2008, but I find that if I just put a little ball on the bottom of my seven and close up the top onto that, you can hardly tell at all that the eight used to be a seven.
I just don't know what to do about this extra day in February, though. Feels like just a marketing gimmick to me, so I'm going to house rule the old number of days back in.

They tried the whole leap-year thing back in 2004, but it clearly wasn't worth it because they didn't keep it for the next 3 editions. There's no reason whatsoever to bring it back, they're just running out of new ideas. Which is why we should stay with the old 2007!

Has anyone noticed the number creep factor? I remember, when I started out it was 1969. And calculating you age was hard, but we used smaller number (current year-year of birth). Know, it's 2008! Same darn formula (current year-year of birth) but bigger numbers involved. 2008 is all about making kids feel good with big numbers.

Hopefully all these negative reactions to 2008 will cause people to finally try something other than Gregorian.
It's still 1428 in the Hijri calendar.
We Discordians are in 3174. Moreover, we have five months of seventy-three days each, and our handling of 'leap year' is handled with Saint Tibb's Day, sandwiched between Chaos 59 and Chaos 60 without having any effect on the numeric values at all.
Clearly our calender is superior to this old hat Gregorian-style!
