She continues, always in Kreen:

"These...clutch killers (she spits crystal shards as she utters the vile curse)...could never keep me. I was trying to determine the cause of the storm-which-did-not-belong, but had to find cover. When I emerged, they pressed me into service. I obey, because I wish to learn if they are a true danger.

Holdrus drops the chest and lashes out at the closest undead with a knee and an elbow -1d20 5=23 knee, 1d3 3=4 damage, 1d20 5=16 elbow, 1d3 3=4 damage- and takes up a wide stance with his hands rigid and extended like twin cobras' heads before him.

Hey DM, Did this get registered into my first round attack?

Well, crapsticks. I remembered seeing it, but forgot to mention you taking out a second skeleton. Thanks for the reminder!

Zuko watches Faindrac and sighs. There are days that aren't really worth it to wake up. Helping Templars. What would happen next? Kissing Dregoth's feet? Ew!

Hostile...skeletons...or hostile...other?

Male Human (Athasian mutant) Psion3/Wiz1

Can I cancel the ectoplasm since it is (was?) my power? Or do I need to wait for it to wear off? And Can I manifest a power while immobile? Or do I need to be free to focus like casting spells?

Faindriac stands, immobilized by his own power manifestation. His eyes burning with hatred and the Psicrystal flashing rapidly in his hand.

'IToldYouSoIToldYouSoIToldYouSo,...'

'Shut. UP. Cair. And FOCUS,...'

Both, if any.

You probably shouldn't be able to, but I'm not that big of a douche (well, I try not to be), so go for it.

Faindriac Fellstar wrote:

Provided it is a thought action and you aren't stunned, yes.

Zuko wrote:

There are a half dozen templars, though they aren't as much hostile as arrogant and a little too "letter of the law." As far as the skeletons go, it's standing room only at the end of the street.

Male Human (Athasian mutant) Psion3/Wiz1

Thank you Mr. G'Mork!

Faindriac Concentrates, adding Cair D'Niaf's power to his own, attempting to dismiss the ectoplasm.

I'm moving. Who knows what this will do to my posting for the next 10 days.

Cool Kruelaid! Good luck! I'm in the process of trying to buy a house myself, if I make it thru THIS sane, I can handle anything!

Grats to both of you! Busy times ahead! I'm a little buried through today as Drew's running a fever (canines coming in), but if anyone with the skeles wants to queue up actions; go to town, and if the rest of you want to discuss among yourselves how you feel about dragging random townspeople out of their homes, I'll catch up by Sunday morning.

As the templar finishes speaking MalaKi inclines his head and begins to speak. “Master templar, your wisdom is to be praised and exalted. Your choice of my master as your taskmaster for this important task is most gratifying. Please forgive my master for his…exuberance. He is a strong man, a mighty man, and he would not serve an unworthy master. The best way to gauge to the quality of steel is to test it, is it not? Having shown your immense worthiness my master will be your willing servant, and I his.”

Nice touch MaliKi! Not the direction I was heading, but i like it! I hope it works,... cuz the buffet is about to open! ;P

Faindriac mentally strains to dismiss his ectoplasmic backfire, and hears MaliKi's speech to the Templar.

'Very Nice MaliKi.'

'Yes. Too bad YOU didn't think of it!'

'Shut it and concentrate Cair. I believe I see how the psychic energy was manipulated. If I can just find the correct frequency,...'

“Sagacious, for a pit slave. Not to worry, your master was just stretching his muscles. It does a man good now and then for someone to remind them of the chain of command. Of course, some reminders are harsher than others,” he says, winking his dead eye at you.

The psychic sludge restraining Faindrac melts away as the templar hands him a fresh token.

“Better take these kreen with you. You might need the muscle to assist the citizenry in obeying your edicts, and we’re about done with the physical part of the wall. The rest of the repairs will take more than muscle, but we’ll need you to keep those bonejobs out of sight until such time as we feel like dealing with them.”

Radik is right next to you...

Portions copied from the previous page for ease of recollection.

Kha-Chik’s claws scrabble at one of the skeletons, cutting deep grooves into the bone of its skull. While this has little effect overall, it does slow the undead.

Dropping the chest in a single fluid motion, both Shenker and Holdrus tear into a skeleton. Shenker’s blades are unable to affect the fleshless creatures overmuch, but he does hold the undead’s attention long enough for Holdrus to break apart the creature at the joints with precise unarmed strikes.

Fatigued by the storm and the battering of the door, Aso sends a haphazard swing towards one of the skeleton’s hips, accomplishing little.

As Radik blasts Kha-Chik’s opponent to pieces, Marada begins to sing an unfamiliar melody. The vigorous tune energies your sagging limbs and puts fire in your heart (Inspire Courage).

Spoiler:
An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 morale bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

Closing on the party, the skeletons tear into Kha-Chik and Shenker. Up close, they don’t appear to display the characteristic intelligence of Athasian undead, nor do they seem overall as formidable. On the down side, their polished white claws still hurt.

Skeleton melee, claw (1d20+1=20, 1d20+1=9, 1d20+1=18) / Claw Damage (1d4+1=4 (Kha-Chik), 1d4+1=2 (Shenker))

With the death of their boss and the rise of the retainers to unlife, the pair of guards break and run, not looking back.

Fighting on the retreat, Kha-Chik manages to score a pair of deep grooves into the skeleton attacking her. Pulling her claws free, she manages to dislodge two of the fingers from the skeletal hand reaching for her retreating foot.

Shenker levels a pair of solid stabs at the nearest undead, but his daggers simply can’t do enough harm to a creature without blood and organs. He casts about for a superior weapon, but comes up empty for the moment.

The bones of the demolished skeletons begin to vibrate softly, disrupting the sand around them into tiny concentric semi-circles.

Assuming that the other kreen follow Kirrish-Kreshk-Skiklik's lead, MalaKi smiles as the group of kreen show their civic pride and join the Faindriac led press gang. He bows in greeting to the new "kreen". He does however keep a little extra distance between himself and the kreen. MalaKi knows nothing about kreen culture. He does know he doesn’t want to become “collateral damage” during some bizarre kreen mating ritual.

Mentally he asks Mistress Sable if she knows anything about the new lead templar.

Faindriac stands there a moment, shaking. With fear or rage, your not sure. But you have a good idea. Finally he gives a small, pained, smile, and holds up the token in a salute. Without a word he turns on his heel and walks toward Zuko.

'I am NEVER gonna live this down!'

'Not if I have anything to say about it!'

'Shuttup Cair!'

Skarsnikt follows after Fandriac, doing his best to appear as a loyal Raam citizen. "What now, boss, go repair other wall, no?"

To Faindrac, "You make a very nice impression of a templar."

<Zuko draws his falchion>

"So where to next, your highness?"

I can’t see anything around this thrice-damned turbin. Can you give me a description?

Assuming he does.

Sounds like Strick. Ambitious mid-level adjutant; used to have a higher rank, but there was some sort of aborted coup attempt years back. Rumor have it he has little love for the living dead, though accusing him of such is likely to earn you a trip to the salt mine.

Male Human Level Adjustment +1 Rogue 1 Ranger 2 Sidewinder Monk 1

MalaKi thanks Mistress Sable for the info and assures her that the turban is a temporary measure. MalaKi also begins to scan the area trying to get an idea of the tactical situation. A “standing room only” mob of skeletons at the end of the street has him feeling a bit skittish.

Faindriac's stride does not slow. "Thank you." He responds tightly. His face a mask.

IN response, Faindriac nods towards the end of the street where the 'standing room only' undead crowd await.

"I'll be thrice-D@#ned if I'm going to feed anyone to those on the word of a Templar!" He spits out, making the word a curse. "We have to find a way to stop them. Or at least slow them down. Ideas?"

He looks at Zuko, then the others, finally noticing the Kreen-ette addition to the group. He bows slightly in greeting to cover his confusion, then continues.

"We should try to find the others, make sure they're ok. I have the power to blast the bone-jobs, but I seriously doubt that I'll be able to destroy them all. Perhaps we can construct a barricade from the rubble, destroy them at our leisure,..." He purses his lips in thought.
"We should put these tokens to good use. Conscript a gang of workers from whoever we can find. Let them build a barricade while we contain the skeletons. What do you think?" He asks, nervously eying the end of the street.

"Good idea. But that's a lot of distance. Unless we can focus their attention, that's Lots of areas for them to wander off into and people to kill on the way. If we can't hold them and we have to fall back, that's the back up plan. Make sure their attention is on us and lead them to the wall breach. Any other ideas?"

Finished with the tavern and surrounding buildings, they begin heading towards the nearest source of life. In other words, you.

Skarsnikt wrote:

That’s surprisingly imaginative, well, not so surprising for this group.

Male Human Level Adjustment +1 Rogue 1 Ranger 2 Sidewinder Monk 1

As Skarsnikt describes his simple, yet brilliant, plan MalaKi begins to smile broadly and nods enthusiastic agreement. MalaKi picks up a promising bit of rubble. He gives Faindriac a questioning look and states, “Maybe this will get their attention.” Picking out a likely target (preferably a skeleton who is “smallish, bleached, and with a thick pelvis”) he heaves the stone.

Male Human Level Adjustment +1 Rogue 1 Ranger 2 Sidewinder Monk 1

As the stone sails through the air MalaKi is suddenly reminded of the thin metal tube covered with runic writing that he grabbed with his “magpie” impression. “Now where did I put that,” he wonders.

Faindriac arches an eyebrow as he observes the stone's trajectory.

"A bit, pedestrian." He sniffs. "But potentially effective all the same." He admits thoughtfully.

Queries: Have any nearby buildings survived the storm? How high are they? How close are they to the wall? Is there anything nearby besides rocks to use as a weapon? What's Illyen been doing? How much of him can I get into my mouth before the skeletons show up? How far can I throw him?

"Declaration: Recall, Kreen, we need only go quicker than city dwellers, not not-dead, should wise tactic not work."
