Is their anything in the WotC license which prevents Paizo from using certain avatars? Can Paizo still use pictures of beholders and mind flayers as avatars? What about avatars of WotC miniatures line?
The answer is probably yes on both accounts (I would think), though I'm not 100% sure.
Of course, I am getting sick of seeing certain peoples avatars everywhere. You know who you are ;-)

Phil, I know this is a threadjack, but... I've made a nice tasteful avatar in hopes that Paizo will one day allow custom avatars, but apparently it's at the bottom of their list.
Things being what they are, here, I guess I can see why. I'd really like to be able to bundle my subscription with stuff I have ordered, but it is yet to be done.
Of course I'm not complaining, Gary. You are the all seeing eye before whom I prostrate myself for servile worship, and I would never suggest that you allow coding to cut into your reading time.

License? No. But copyright would prohibit us just culling their products for avatars. The Wizards-owned avatars we have up currently are with their explicit permission, nominally in support of the magazines. They have also generously allowed us to continue using them after our magazine license ends.
Once the magazines go away, we'll be focussing on more avatars with art from our own publications.
