Okay, I'm putting myself out on a limb here, but I'm new to Paizo, and to be honest, I'd never participated in message boards until recently, April 19th to be exact.
I have noticed that there are many people who seem very familiar with each other, and, as I'm getting the hang of this stuff (still terrified I'm going to accidentally "jack" someone's thread cuz I only THINK I know what it means) I would like to get to know you as well, soo...Here it goes.
My name is Lara
(everyone) "Hello Lara"
According to Lawgiver I'm a 27th level player
I've got four kids and tons more not mine that call me mom
I'm a family coordinator (heh heh heh)
As my job is becoming obsolete, I am going to take the plunge into college this fall.
I can't spell
I...um, well heck, I have no idea what else to write.
I find the more I read your comments, the more I like you guys, something about gamers I guess, a little more witty, a little more open minded, ALOT more sarcastic.
Okay, this is my first thread of my very own, be nice will ya.
P.S. I'm also apparently long winded

Tis' a pleasure to meet you, My Lady. I am sure you will find these boards to be to your liking. We are a reasonably well mannered group of people who are passionate about our hobbies but surprisingly nice to each other.
Feel free to jump right in, nobody will bite your head off (and if they do, bite back!) and the only real rule is not to spell the sneaky core-class ROGUE as R-O-U-G-E. Some around here are surely overly sensitive of such minor things.
Welcome to the boards!

Welcome to the boards! Im still pretty new myself, though I lurked for ages before I started posting. You are right that a lot of the posters here do know each other. Some through the boards, some outside as well. Some posters are contributors to publications such as Dragon and Dungeon. Some are the actual staff (even Lisa Stevens the CEO posts on the boards).
That said the community are friendly and welcoming. I've never seen any pedantic posts about spelling (as long as you dont mistake Rouge and Rogue. Fakey hates that).
What i like is that even if you only post occasionally or you are new no one here will make you feel like your excluded or stupid. Ask anything you want, I have never seen anyone made to feel small.
That said the only advice I have is read the thread before posting to limit posting the same thing lots of times.
Have fun
Elcian
PS Thread jacking is when you post responses that derail the topic. For example. You thread here is about you joining the community. I would be thread jacking it if I came in and posted about a rules question or my holidays or something irrelevant.

Still better comming from you.

Well we are all really nice and looking to help each other. Don’t worry to much about thread jacking it happens sometimes and someone will get it back on track sooner or later. This board is a bit more mature and courteous than others in my opinion. We can have threads about politics, religion, families, jobs, and anything else without being offensive or augmentative. Welcome to this dysfunctional family!!!
I’m 22, a law student, I’m from Tennessee.
I work in as a supervisor in a lab that changes and modifies environment protection laws, hunting and fishing regulations, licensing, government building on state property, logging, etc. (basically anything outside the government does) based on information gather through survey information, environmental health research, and a lot of other govt. research. It’s all very boring.
I’m engaged to a woman that’s way smarter than me. Who sings opera, which I hate. She’s in grad school now, so are lives are a bit hectic.
I’ve played D&D since I was 12. I am now getting into Iron Kingdoms and Warmachine.
I hope you have a great time here on these boards!!

No worries. As Fizzban says we are quite a mature bunch on the whole. threads wander sometimes but they come back on topic for after a while.

Yeah, the Snarky Threadjacking Thread was a thread I started way back when me and Heathy were running rampant and having a snarky competition across the whole boards. We were a bit crazy there for a bit......Til the PostMonster came one night! An eye the size o' a shield 'e had, filled with hate.....We 'ad to atone for our crimes and T'was only right to make a place for the senseless babbling that are needed from time to time.
Fakey's stats
36
2 kids (4 and 2, girl and boy respectively)
Stay-at-home dad
gaming since 1979 with a brief break during 2nd edition.
Tough on grime but gentle on hands.
Lemme see if I can dig up the "introduce yourself" thread we had going so you can see what some of the degenerates around here are like;)

Welcome aboard!
I see that you've filled out your Profile (Smite teenager... heh...). Excellent. You can check out my Profile (or anyone else's, for that matter) by clicking on the name/avatar. You can also figure out an alias by mousing over the name/avatar. (Avatars' names also show up in purple)
Check out the FAQ for a rundown of the fun BBCode tags you can use in your posts (or you could just hit the little Show button under the compose window, I guess...)
Ok... that's about enough playing with tags for me.
If you have any questions or concerns, my number is at the bottom of the this page, or you can email me at customer.service@paizo.com.
Well.. one more: SNARKY!

Dirk Gently |

Not to make you feel alone in introducing yourself:
Hi, I'm Dirk
Hi Dirk
I have nerdily named myself after a novel character.
I have been playing D&D since I was 6 and DMing since I was 13.
I am not snarky, but I have been known to be sarcastic and cynical from time to time...Mostly cynical.
Welcome!

Jerk Gentry |

Also, if you see one name Jerk Gentry, that is not me. He is odder than I, and also an alias of my eternal enemy and player The Eldrich Mr. Shiny. Ignore pretty much anything he says, he is kind of out of it.
See, that is threadjacking.
I am not out of it. Oh look! A butterfly! And you call me odd. Ohhh let me tell you, back in the day, we didn't even HAVE messageboards. All we had was ROCKS and RAZOR WIRE and the occasional ACID PIT. Oh jeez, those were the days.
Now THAT'S threadjacking.

![]() |

I don't know if that could be considered thread jacking, as it's my thread, if one can claim ownership, and I asked the question...Oh wait, are you being sarcastic? Geesh.
I think I'm innocent this thyme, but I've been so guilty in the past that it would be in bad form for me to protest.
Or maybe it is a threadjack; I don't know anymore.
Lady Lena |

Well, my husband (Angusking in the message boards) just called me a Paizo junkie, so I must like it here.
OBTW, (sorry, carry over from another thread) I love the fact that the Paizo staff jump in too. I've spoken to one guy on the phone several times, it's good to see they're really as odd and friendly all the time. Odd is good, I like odd.

jody mcadoo |

Hi Lady Lena, nice to meet you.
There really are a great bunch of people here. Its an odd sort of family, people from all over, you're going to get along fine.
I think one of the things I like most is that our community comes from all over the place, but meet here to discuss everything under the sun. People are witty but never mean. Nice place to be. Its the other people here that keep me coming back.
I actually lurk more than post, but from time to time I feel the urge to chime in.
see you around.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams(yes, that Douglas Adams).
I can relate to the Pit Bull tenacity. We are like a family here. One's pain is borne by many and we lean on one another for support. We are ohana, family, and there is alot of good souls here.

And then there's me.... a lot.
Sorry for the in-joke, but if I explain why it's funny that "a lot" is spelled the way it is and why "rogue" is spelled the way it is it just wouldn't be funny.
The needs of the funny outweigh the needs of the few -or the one.

Hello. Welcome to the boards. Definitely my favorite place on the net.
Don't worry, I'm not as angry as my avatar looks ;)
And then there's me.... a lot.
Isn't that how you spell a lot? Oh man, I feel like when I was 17 and writing an assignment for school and my dad looked over my shoulder and said "why do you always spell "does" as "deos?"
I'd been writing deos for 17 years.

YeuxAndI |

Hi, Lena. I'm fairly new to the boards too, and have found everyone incrediably lovely. And Fakey (Can I call you Fakey? You can call me Yeux? >.<) has only had to yell at me once about 'rouge'. :P
Anyway, I'm also a gamer-chick and am very used to my prescence silencing a game or shop. You get used to it after a while.
It's nice to see another woman on the Internets for once. ^^;

Lilith |

I am always on the look out for these things but, Geeklabel.com (can I write that?) is where I got my shirt, and Hot Topic is where I picked up the onsie.
I love the stuff on Paizo too, I'm going to get the "natural" crits soon.
I like Hot Topic and Geek Label. I have the "Choose Your Weapon" t-shirt with the Sacred Seven Polyhedral Dice on them.
Welcome, and hooray for another female gamer on the boards! :)

Warning: This is a "me too" post.
Welcome on board, and just post away. Most of the time, you will get an answer, and if you are really lucky, it will even fit the question :-)
But I have yet to see a condescending answer to questions posed here, even if the answer may be just a pointer to a thread or page where this question was answered before.
