Neil Young--Comes a Time
A countryish, mellow mid-seventies album. Was considered the follow-up to Harvest at the time. A nice, little NY album, but I generally prefer him in Crazy Horse raging demon guitar god mode.
Squeeze--Singles, 45s and Under
I came from a rockcentric childhood and adolescence that looked down upon greatest hits collections as only being worthy of poseurs and little girls. It took a real calmdown on my part before I came to realize the utility of best-ofs for pop bands. As much as I like the original bunch of Squeeze albums, it's pretty undeniable that this collection of singles is their best record.

Stevie Wonder--Innervisions
When Little Stevie reached the legal age of maturity (18? 21? I can't recall), his contract with Motown became null and void.
He went to Berry Gordy and renegotiated his contract with complete artistic control for the first time in that label's existence (I think this was before Marvin Gaye's What's Going On).
This resulted in at least 4 stone cold soul classics, Innervisions being my favorite.

Yesterday, I decided to reinvest my income tax returns into the economy (and people say I hate America!) and visited my local used record store.
Unfortunately, l.u.r.s.s aren't as cool in NH as they are in Boston, but I was able to find Southern Accents by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Not my favorite record by them, but I had broken my copy recently, and was happy to replace it.
The real score, however, was a record by Tony Joe White. Records by this swamp rock maven (who provided comeback Elvis with his sound) are almost impossible to find in New England, so I was quite happy.
The best part, however, was when I went to the check-out counter and the owner informed me of the daily sale: all records by artists whose names started with the letter "T" were half off!
L.u.r.s.s rock!

Rosetta Stoned ---> Thanks Moth!
Wow. Almost 10 minutes each. I could listen to those again and again, and I'm not even baked.

Also, listen to Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann) before Rosetta Stoned.

Black Box Recorder--England Made Me
I'm a sucker for cynical, foppish, literate Britpop. Basically, if you make an Oscar Wilde pose, I'm going to eat it up. These agent provocateurs from the oughties made minimalist little pop songs with an ear for decadence and ennui. I love it!
Here's a video:
They also did a song (I think it's a cover) called Lord Lucan Is Missing, which taught me history. Educational rock'n'roll!
I don't think they really got anywhere, even in Britain. Last I heard, the Svengali of the band, Luke Haines, dissolved the act to focus on his absinthe-exporting business! Rock'n'roll sophistication!
