I'm fine. Just really really pissed off.
The Harley appeared to have only minor damage. Cracked brake light lens, bent fender. I need to get it looked at to be sure though.

By the way... did I mention that I laid down the new bike last weekend?

Nothing major, was pulling into one of the biker bars that were on our route, (No drinking had been done at this point) and slipped off the narrow concrete path (read: sidewalk) and onto a patch of soft dirt. I had a passenger at the time which threw off my balance a bit and over we went.

She got off safely. But I strained my still injured left knee trying to keep everything upright.

Pain. Cursing. Falling.

No damage done to the bike, but I really hate to think what that knee is going to feel like in 5 years...

Ah. I would've never picked up the reference.

My own peeve is that I need the name to not be monosyllabic. Easier for me to comprehend if there's a cadence. I get messed up when someone says 'how now brown cow' to me, for instance. A downside to hearing impairment. :/

Ah. Well, I won't be able to help. I tend towards short simple names. On the up side, I can save Brix for my next dog! :-D

I'm all for abstinence being included as part of sex education. There's just not substanti evidence that abstinence only programs work that well by themselves.

It'd be pretty tough to change the culture to embrace chastity (sex sells and we live in a capitalist society). I wouldn't object to such a cultural sea change, but I don't see a practical non-fascist way to get there.

Agreed. It's a societal problem. But the fact that we, as a people, find the only truly effective and nondestructive way to be inconvenient to our instant gratification obsessed selves, doesn't mean it isn't still the only truly effective and nondestructive way. It just means that we are generally weak willed and self indulgent to practice it.

FACT. If nothing goes in, nothing comes out. And that has nothing to do with any testament or my interpretation thereof.

Yeah, that pretty much misses the point. While we're at it, we might as well eliminate crime by teaching people that if they break laws, they will be put in jail. If it's as easy as telling people the obvious, it wouldn't really be a problem.

More like intentionally went around the point. I generally try to avoid arguing with lawyers. I mean, I know better than to think I have any chance of winning.

But, for the hell of it.
Our society hasn't actively encouraged abstinence for decades. Sure it gets mentioned with a wink and a nod, and a 'Oh and by the way, here's a condom'. It's made into a joke, even though it actually is pretty damned effective against both pregnancy and disease.

I think the point of the organization is really about educating people and helping them to make good decisions. Making good decisions means that men and women practise proper birth control if they have sex and thus women don't pregnant until they actually want to have babies. Proactive measures are key. Abortion is a reactive measure. Successful proactive measures make it so that the reactive ones (like abortion) don't have to come into play. Sure some people still make mistakes, and get into situations where they feel things like abortion are necessary, but if planned parenthood is properly funded and able to do its job it reduces the number of cases of unplanned pregnancies, and thus the people that do get pregnant actually want to have the baby. They just need a separate organization to do the abortions then all the antiabortionists could get mad at them instead and leave planned parenthood alone.

Such children are more likely to have health problems (diabetes, obesity, fetal alcohol syndrome etc..), they tend to have more difficulty in school, struggle more to get gainful employment after school, and are more likely to end up in the criminal justice system.

Having an organization like planned parenthood that helps to educate people about taking steps to ensure that they don't have children when they aren't equipped to raise them can only be a good thing for society. Well, my thinking is this: Whatever good Planned Parenthood may do is (IMO) trivialized by the murder of our future generations. Trying to justify it by saying the victims are somehow 'better off' than if they were born into less than ideal circumstances is... I just can't wrap my head around that kind of thinking.

I mean, what you seem to be saying is that, because someone might grow up in less than great health or might be a bad person, the best course of action is to deny them the chance of having a long healthy life as a good person who does contribute to society?

Therefore, "I don't play D&D, I play Pathfinder!"

When I speak, I do it to communicate with another person. Using "Pathfinder" is more accurate yet less likely to convey information. Yes, I can - and sometimes do - explain myself. Still, the information-density in "D&D" is very high. I don't need to explain that Nissan has nothing to do with how I game.

Well for the purposes of this thread, which is about a gaming specific poll, I was assuming a conversation between gamers.

To outsiders, yeah. I'll tell them I play D&D or 'a game like D&D', because it has name recognition.

But, that's really a different conversation.

The place I ordered my book is $25.80 I have free 2 day shipping. Paizo was 39.99 with shipping at $6.83 for 3 - 8 days (my experience it is closer to the 8 than 3) So you add $25.80 + $9.99 that equals 35.79

Now take Paizo's cost for the book and basic shipping 39.99 + 6.83 = $46.82

That is an $11.03 save.

I get the savings, I would question your 1 week delay. I'm going to be enjoying the PDF on Wednesday or Thursday the 11th. There is a fair chance I'll be fondling the hardcover on the 14th or the 16th. In my experience Amazon doesn't even start shipping Paizo books for a week after the 'official' release date. Free two day shipping is a questionable benefit when they don't have the product to ship out.

I've done it both ways and for me, the savings isn't worth the wait while all my chums are enjoying it. All that said, it's entirely possible Amazon's turnaround on Paizo stuff is much better now, it's been a few books since last messed with it.

It's not just Paizo books. Amazon is bad about hitting release dates for gaming products and video games. I had to wait so long for my original 4E release order that I ended up buying the books from a local store after all. And I've seen LOTS of friends get bit by PS3/360 release delays.

Not necessarily. Bush I won the war in Kuwait only a few months before the election but still got trounced by Clinton. It won't silence the Trump-led Birth movement one iota who still sees him as a black man who doesn't belong in the Oval Office. I don't think however he's nearly enough foolish to rest on the laurels of this momentary respite.

However, there isn't any way they can. The Rightwing, hard core conservative president George W. Bush couldn't find Osama and kill him. However, the so called leftist, liberal, weak President Barrack Obama is able to get it done. Do you think he's a radical secret Muslim now, Rightwingers?

Neither Bush nor Obama had any real impacting influance on this search. Bush initiated it, Obama continued it and then gave a go ahead to take action once others had found him.

And just for the record, Bush may have leaned Right, but he was in no way a 'hard core concervative'.

For that, it was hardly an overreaction. It didn't help nearly enough.

Yet funny, they also pulled their 4e pdfs as well, which would be silly if they were trying to only kill older editions. But let us not let logic get in the way of our nerdrage and all that.

Down with the Hasbro lackeys!

Pull your head out of the sand. Pulling the PDFs was a marketing decision. The older PDFs were direct competition with the new game, and PDFs of that rule set would have cut into their shiny new DDI subscription base.
