Who wants to super help me out and tell me which issues this feature has been in so far?
And as a fun addition, which has been your favorite?
329(Pazuzu), 333(Fraz-Urb'Luu), 337(Zuggtmoy), 341(Baphomet), 345 (Kostchtchie, 349(Dagon), 353(Malcanthet).
Zuggtmoy is awesome, and Pazuzu has such a fun name to say, but Malcanthet has emerged as my favorite. Tis a shame that Wayne Reynold's lovely cover art of her can't be viewed in high-res, without all the headline clutter of the cover.

For me Dagon has been the coolest so far because of the heavy Lovecraftian feel to it. Malcanthet was also just amazing. Personally though, the one I am anticipating the most is Demogorgon in the next article. The prince of Demons is long overdue for his 15 minutes in the sun. I can't wait to see what sorts of unique goodness Mr. Jacobs comes up with for us. My bet is that Demo weights in at a hefty CR 32-34. Further I bet there are some awesome unique demon creations that will show up in that article. I get all jittery just thinking about it.

I really enjoyed Dagon and Zuggtmoy. I haven't got issue 353 yet, but to me Malcanthet's head looks way to big on the front cover. She'd keep falling over (and not because her breasts are too big)! ;)
Well she needs a solid base for those lovely horns. Plus, larger craniums directly correlate to greater intelligence (at least in humans). So perhaps this passes over to humanoid demon lords, for Malcanthet is marvelously cunning.
And of course, her bosom is flawles. :)

And bear in mind, Malcanthet's stronger than a hill giant and has a better constitution than the Tarrasque. All packed into a shapely Medium-sized body. I reckon she's got no trouble holding her head high for as long as she wants.
Her neck is what struck me as strange. It's totally unnaturally placed on her shoulders. Otherwise she looks great.

I wish they could do a Cthulhu. Dagon was excellent!

cthuludarren, thank you for pointing out the issue with her neck. I thought I was the only one that noticed in the game store. I'm all for tweaking anatomy where appropriate, but, man.
I don't think it looks all that odd. I tried to aproximate her positioning, and though it's a dynamic pose it's not anatomically flawed. To me, sitting in said position imparts a sense of authority. It's not a pose from which you deal with a peer, but with your definite lessers.

I'm a huge Wayne Reynolds fan (particularly his spectacular two-page EBERRON pics), but this is the first time I have really been disappointed by one of his drawings/paintings. The pictures in the actual Malcanthet article were better (I'm surprised no one has complained about the lovely elf thrall and her LOVELY costume).
With Malcanthet getting a reveal I'm just wondering about the other so called kings and queens of demonkind. I personally have used Ilsidahur (the king of the bar-lgura) and Kardum (the king of the balor) in adventures. Then we have Rhyxali (queen of shadow demons) and Shaktari (queen of mariliths who escaped from the wells of darkness). Are we going to see any of these in the DEMONOMICON?
One more thing. Will you write every DEMONOMICON issue in DRAGON James or do you have a limit on how many you want to do? In other words will other writers get a chance to share their visions on the demon world (not talking about anyone in particular)?

I don't have a limit; I love writing them, and I'll keep writing them as long as the powers that be let me.

Pazuzu honestly clocks in as my #1 Demon. I remember fondly purchasing that issue from the local gaming store (before I had a subscription, of course), and poring over the article of the half-light of my favorite coffeehouse. He was...SO creepy and evil, being all sinister and bird-like. It was my first glimpse into their world and society, and I guess it stuck with me.
The Malcanthet article was fun, too, though, don't get me wrong. The prereq for her Thrall PrC was a bit harsh...murdering someone who loves you? Ouch. I guess I don't have what it takes to become a demon lord.

Sure, but look at her head. Where is her neck connected to her torso? In order to hold a pose exactly like that, her neck would have to bend at a ninety degree angle and be pretty darn long. It's like Wayne Reynolds is becoming the Rob Liefeld of fantasy art.

Hey! I kinda like Youngblood... As for Malcanthet... do you think perhaps her jewelry could be causing the neck-to-torso confusion? Between the pose and her dark-colored neckwear blending into shadow, it seems like the position of her neck could get lost in there.

Well, when I saw the cover my first thought was that there was a woman lying on the throne and this gigantic demon head floating over her. Large part of the head is indeed jewelry and stuff so it is not that large after all, but still it definitely looks disconnected from the body.
The second thought was that when a woman is in that position her breasts don't look like that unless they are filled with silicone or, say, helium. But that I can just count as demonic anatomy.
I liked the article but the cover has problems...and I'm waiting for the next demons.

You know how people write "LOL" when something is vaguely amusing? I actually did laugh out loud at that one.
BTW, wasn't there a thread recently about how Wayne Reynolds was the best artist who ever lived, and needed no anatomy lessons? Just checking.

Please peeps, I don't want to bash Mr Reynolds (there are lots of things by him that are excellent) but there is no question IMHO that this one is quite funky in the neck. No question. It was the first thing I noticed in the picture when normally with succubi there are other parts of the anatomy which <ahem> draw first attention.
Personally though I was hoping that she would look more like Coop's devil girl. <drool> Yum-o.

Pazuzu's Demonomicon is still my favorite, although the Kostchtchie article turned him from a demon lord I'd never use into one I could respect. Maybe even feel a little sorry for. Poor guy.
Feel sorry for!? Yikes, this guy creeped me out big-time. I mean, as far as villainous and vile cults go, his have to be the iconic best (save the scantily-clad woman chained between two pillars as a sacrifice before the beastie arrives to eat her), but, really, dude was always pretty angry. I get the feeling he would've been a jerk even if he hadn't been disfigured.

The biggest problem with the head for me was the large horns, they look far larger than the ones in Fiendish Codex, whereas the neck is not so terrible - she is a demon after all.
However, the best demon issues I guess were Pazuzu's and Kostchtchie's.
I was terribly dissapointed by the picture she got in Fiendish Codex. She looked way too frumpy. The new version is much better, and again, her constitution score's on par with the tarrasque's and her strength's on par with a giant, so the size of her horns probably isn't much of an issue for her. :)
