All things must end...and this time, it is my chatroom. It's long served its purpose, but I don't have the time to properly monitor, moderate, or maintain it to the extent that I'd like. When I started the chatroom (over 10 years ago), there wasn't any place quite like it on the Internet that was easily accessible. I do take some measure in pride in that, but new places to chat about gaming are available everywhere now.
I've set up a redirect to places where you can find me, but it will take some time for the server to kick in the changes.
Thank you to everybody that spent time in my chat room, and thanks for all the fish. <3

Wow, this is a sad day. The chat got me through losing my job back in 2009. I will miss it as a steady place.
I've still got the Slack channel running. It does require a signup ... but that does tend to weed out the spambots (anyone that's been here long enough knows what I'm talking about).

That's the signup link. I try to keep things pleasant, but I've yet to have to kick anyone from it and I hope to keep it that way.
DMTools Slack is the link if you've already got an account.
I will work to get the steps lessened, I think I can get a signup redirect setup for the login for those that do not have an account.

This makes me very sad.
I don't think "getting rid of the spambots" is worth a signup.
IRC, anyone? I'd be happy to get us set up if people would use it.
I'd love to say I would use it (and I would), but let's face it: I'm a sporadic user at best. You will probably want someone a little more regular in their usage.
So put me down as a Partial. :)

Went ahead and set us up on Freenode under ##dmtools.
The web client experience is pretty close to that of the old chat. UTF8 is fully supported, so Unicode emoji are fine, and most desktop/mobile clients should support the usual text emoji conversions as well. ☺
Access:
Go to https://webchat.freenode.net/ and enter your nickname of choice, then type ##dmtools in the "Channels" box. You'll be connected and automatically joined to the ##dmtools channel (shown in a tab at the top).
I'll be there... waiting...

OK, the spam bots are why there's an invite. I could get rid of that. But you really never gave me a reason about the sign up. We can use freenode if you really want and I can let the slack die.

Tried to access and was informed I needed an invite...ah, well. :(
EDIT: Tried again on a hunch I did something wrong and got in.
...it is very empty.
2nd EDIT: Nope, still kept out. What's up, Olabot?

My most sincere gratitude Lilith, and to Daigle of course. Because I think he first suggested it.
I showed up the first week you launched and, as you know, never left. Great, great memories. Huh... some of the best.Goodbye everyone -- maybe I love you and maybe I don't.
.
Edit: I remember running the first game the chat room saw. It was me, Heathansson, and The Jade. Excellent stuff.

"At the Chat Room bar, a pale ghost was dragging on the memory of a cigarette, puffing bits of itself back into the air. Two water elementals were drinking from each other through hollow reed straws. A werewolf was curled up on a threadbare blanket searching his fur for fleas and occasionally licking his balls. In the corner, a statue of a musician in a single piece white spangled outfit with a short cape was bleeding bloody tears. A corkscrew was jammed in a very vulgar position below the belt. The bouncers, two muscular women who looked as if they could dig out a mine by punching the mountain, were having a pose-off. Several bar patrons were placing bets on which one would pass out first. A barechested sailor with a corncob pipe and a serious jaw had passed out at a table; his tattoos could be heard having an argument about matters philosophical. At a table near him, three plain individuals with no distinguishing features sat, two men and a woman, quietly studying the newly-arrived adventurers. A mummy in a booth was sipping gin & tonics while performing running repairs on its bandages. A tribe of barbarians had shoved tables against the walls and cleared a space for a dance-off. They had bared, oiled chests and were wearing high fur boots, fur loin cloths, and intensely tall feathery headdresses as they stamped and howled to the heavy metal pumping out over the bar’s hidden speakers."
