I went ahead and ordered one and decided to throw a 12 month subscription to Dragon in there as well... Do you normally have to pay shipping charges on a subscription or is $5.05 normal slow boat shipping charges for this item?
Regardless, I thought people might want the link...

Mine was that for slowboat shipping.

So pretty art, but the blurb tells me nothing, What is in the players guide, how many pages, etc some of the real basic info so be listed in the blurb.
The Player's Guide is essentailly a gazetter of the city of Sasserine, where the first two adventures in the Savage Tide Adventure Path take place. The inside cover has a full-color map of the city. The book itself has 14 pages that break down the city's seven districts, offering details on each, a key to all shops and taverns and inns and shrines and other places of note, and lists important NPCs for each section. Each district also has one or two "District Feats," which work a little like Regional Feats; they're feats you take if your character is from Sasserine, and that are tailored to be useful at various points throguhout the Savage Tide Adventure Path. Also found in the booklet are tips for generating characters for the campaign, notes on how the city watch behaves in every disict, rules for purchasing exotic animals like shocker lizards and dire bats, notes on the black market and the arena and a few other points of interest in Sasserine, a brief history of the city, and a few words about six affiliations PCs might want to join during the campaign.
Of course, all this info works just as well for DMs who are looking to expand the campaign.

Ah, but when you have 5 players and you want to give one to each of them you do need five, my snaky friend ;) It's a really fun way to kick off the campaign and connects the players more closely to the campaign world. I thought about actually ordering 6, but what for? One of them is for my wife and you know the old saying, "What's mine is her's and what's hers is... her's" Here's hoping she let's me borrow it :|

They sailed so long blown by the winds of the change rune, that the stars melded into unknown geometries as if before their very eyes. Their charts lied, their compass spun and twittered like a mad beetle; islands appeared and just as oddly sank in rippling spasms.
All around them was the horizon, an unbroken seam of sea and sky. Geography and time ceased to have any meaning. They had reached the latitudes of entropy.

Will the informations in this guide also be printed out in the pages of dungeon or dragon magazine?
Fear not, Talon. The Paizo staff have said many times across many threads that the Player's Guide would be available in PDF form about the same time #139 is generally available. For example, see this.

Will the PDF come with a hi-res printable version of the map? High enough resolution to print a similar copy as the one that comes in the print version?

Will issue 139 also feature a map (diamond lake / alhaster sized)? Because I always pick up a copy of Dungeon whenever there is a big map attached to it or if it features a backdrop article.
big map + free players guide + adventure equals Happy Darkjoy
( I would have bought the players guide if the transportation cost wasn't equal to twice the cost of the players guide ;< )

Some of it, but not much. Think of the Savage Tide Player's Guide as the Player's Version of Sasserine. Issue #139 of Dungeon contains a Backdrop on Sasserine that is aimed more at Dungeon Masters; it gives away more information about the city's secrets and details several of the key locations in greater depth. The two compliment each other quite well.

I'm not sure how hi-res the map will be at this point, althoguh the same map is appearing with issue #139 as a four panel poster map.

OK, total sales forecast for issue 139 has just increased by one

Is it true, that the guide will be downloadable for free in a few months?!
Yup. I'm not sure how long it'll take to get it online, but I'd like to have it available as soon as possible after issue #139 starts reaching subscribers and newsstands. It might take a few weeks, but hopefully it'll be available as a free PDF download some time early next month.

Well, I paid for slow boat shipping. They can't ship it periodical rate because it's not a subscription. If you want to get more bang for your shipping buck, order some more stuff from the store and have them ship it all together.

Truer words were never spoken. I recommend that everyone follow this most excellent advice. Twice. No, three times. Make that four.
Don't forget, Christmas is only 127 days away.

Done and done. I'll be getting Tome of Battle from you guys as well . . . Now if only I'd thought to remember that I wanted to order a back issue of Dungeon 100 earlier today when placing that order.
Unless, can I go back and modify the order?

Order early, order often!
I hope to have new code written in the next week or so that will automatically combine orders into single shipments, so your products would arrive all at the same time. (Right now it's a manual process, someone in our warehouse has to merge orders by hand.)
Hmmm. It occurs to me that we'd still charge additional shipping for the second order when you place it. Allowing you to merge orders yourself is a tough nut to crack, so.... Contact Cosmo at customer.service@paizo.com and see if he can add a Dungeon #100 to your existing order if it hasn't already been selected for shipment.

Nice, then us creditcard-liberated people, somewhere north of archangelsk, might even get it before #139 ;)

I am thinking this will also come in handing for my SCAP game I am currently running, as well as AoW I am ruinning. I am sure the players will want travel by sea (they have had to many bad occurrences with teleport lately) to get to the Spire of Long Shadows and Sasserine will be a good stop over.
I just ordered two copies. One for me and one for the players.

Along those lines (if I ever get my crap together) I got a guy who always plays drow, who I might play with. I was thinking he gets captured in an underdark drow house war and sold to scumbags on the surface under Cauldron, maybe by a certain 1/2 troll's twin brother..., and gets moved to Sasserine. Along the way, he eventually gets to make a play for freedom. I just gotta avoid making to much to-do about this pre-adventure, or he'll be 5th level before the first adventure installment begins.
Again, a lot of things happening bear directly on me getting my crap together.Vic Wertz Chief Technical Officer |
