I believe so too. Core beliefs are much better, than article in the Complete Divine.
No comparisons there, you're right. The "Complete Divine" treatment of Greyhawk deities is similar to the treatment of D&D in the first D&D movie. The Core Beliefs articles are the real thing (LotR movie?).
Can't wait for the Vecna article!

I think one of the nature gods would be cool as well. Though I do have to throw my hat in for Wee Jas as well.
Then consider your hat thrown. The previews magzine at my local comic book store showed that Wee Jas will be covered in the near future. I forget what issue it said, but I think it will be sometime this winter.

Hurray hurray. thanks for the heads up. I live in the middle of nowhere no game shops around me for like an hour or more of driving. So I find things out at cons and stuff like that.

Question: Since Mayaheine has Bastard Sword as her favored weapon, does that mean a cleric taking the War domain gets EWP: Bastard Sword?
Although the rule book says "Free Martial weapon proficiency with deity's favoured weapon", I feel that it's not too much to stretch the reading to, Free weapon proficiency. After all if you going to devot your life in the service of a Deity, giving weapon proficiency is a small price for your god to pay. Or work on the principle, that the church would ensure that all clerics would be familiar with the deity's choice of weapon.

What makes the bastard sword an exotic weapon is the ability to wield it one-handed. Maybe the clerics of Mayaheine get the martial proficieny to wield it two-handed. It seems to fit with the rules, if the issue was one of balance. Otherwise, any god with the spiked chain as a favored weapon and the War Domain will attrack a lot of worshippers.
The flaw would be the importance of shields in the iconography of Mayaheine. I doubt the goddess would be keen on having her followers having to give up one of her attributes for another. It would be symbolically dividing the fighting style of her clerics into "aggresive defenders" (using the the bastard sword two-handed) and "active defenders" (using another weapon and a shield). On the other hand, maybe that makes perfect sense in the world-view Mayaheine is promoting. [Digression: Seems like the Knight class from PHB2 is very Mayaheine friendly.]
Of course, you could have two-handed bastard sword wielding clerics of Mayaheine with bucklers strapped to one arm. From a spell-casting in combat point of view this makes perfect sense. They can just let go of the bastard sword so it is held in one hand, cast a spell with the hand so freed (on the buckler-ed arm) then re-grab the sword and keep attacking.
But buckler-wearing clerics of Mayaheine just seem somehow wrong...

When I first posted this thread, I was hoping that it had already been written. I had the idea for a paladin of Wee Jas and a favorered soul. I'm glad the article is coming out, but it will not help for the new STAP.
PS: If Dragon (when they get this through with the Grayhawk deities) puts all of Core Beliefs into a Compendium, I will buy it.

So far I am thrilled with this series and am always looking forward to the next installment. In particular I'm one of those who hopes to see the Wee-Jas article appear soon.
Looking back for a moment though, I have a question. The "Core Beliefs: Olidammara" article featured a sidebar for his apprentice, Rudd. Unlike the section on Zagyg in the Boccob article, however, Rudd's domains, alignment and favored weapon weren't given. Simply put my question is "What are they?"

The core beliefs in the latest issue was excellent. Dragon is getting better with every issue. The only problem with the core beliefs article is the lean info for players who want to play Favored Souls and paladins or anti-paladins of that particular God. Will there ever be an article over becoming a God? Maybe like the old Golden box set.

On Rudd, from the Living Greyhawk Deities document, to be found somewhere on the WTC website:
Alignment: CN (CG)
Favored Weapon: Rapier
other Preferred Weapon: Shortbow
Portfolio: Chance, Good Luck, Skill
Domains: Chaos, Competition, Destiny, LuckStefan
Ah, thank you! Not having that info was driving me mad.
