Download Request: Savage Tide-styled Character Sheets

Savage Tide Adventure Path

Yes, the old reliable sheet of ruled paper works just fine, as does any one of several generic character sheets available elsewhere on the Web, including Wizards of the Coast.

I think it would be really cool, however, if Sean, Sarah and any one of the contributing artists could get together and devise an artfully done Savage Tide-themed character sheet and make it available for download. I'm thinking of something along the lines of something like the sheets that Tony DiTerlizzi did for sale when third edition was released -- something that covers the basics but also incorporates artwork appropriate to the theme of the AP.

I know it's too late to ask for something like this for Age of Worms -- although there are plenty of us still charging through that AP and would appreciate a similiar treatment. It just seems like it would be something really nice to go along with the new Adventure Path.

I second that -- it would be way cool.

Just don't base it on the lame new sheets WotC just posted :/

Here. Here. That would be really cool as a web bonus when the first issue of Savage Tide goes out. How about something with a nautical map style backrground with a sextant laying on top of it very faint behind the text of the sheet. And the skills section could have instead of a blank Profession slot, you could actually put sailor in there since many players will probably want to put at least one or to points in.

Anyway, just my suggestions.

Liberty's Edge

Yes. We wants it. Pretty. Pretty. Gooood Troy Taylorses.

Add one more to the I love this idea list.

Yea, great idea. I would even pay a couple of bucks for a really good ST:AP themed sheet. Skull and crossbones is a must.

Now, if someone were to say, get ambitious and say, do something like this, which character sheets would you base it on? The "official" WotC character sheets? A homebrew character sheet (mine's six pages long)?

Color or black and white? Or both?

Savage Tide...a treasure map-style? Skulls, dubloons, maybe Demogorgon's symbol in the corner???
Age of Worms...*imagines a border full of squirmy green worms*
Shackled City...*imagines a chain border with the Carcerian sign*

My feeling about the artful character sheet would be that it is just one page with the basic information that is universal to all character classes (character description, abilities, saves, combat matrix with weapons, armor, hit point tracker and probably a space for listing skills). That should leave room for the sheet's decorative elements.

Anything else, including special abilities, feats, spells, equipment and magic item slots I assume will be on a second page the player can customize themselves. Or perhaps, we can get a second decorative page that is blank, which we can customize as we see fit.

Of course, I would be happy if the powers that be were willing to fulfil any portion of the original request. A themed character sheet just seems to be a natural extention of of the Adventure Path experience.

I'm a big fan of the space provided by 4-page character sheets.

A decorative character sheet for this would be awesome, I must say.

So far, it looks like you guys prefer the longer sheet to the shorter one. Any other suggestions?

I'd like a new type of character sheet that's modeled after the new stat block format.

In any event, please don't forget an area for action points.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah; just call it 'AP' and I'll use it to tally ale pints.

Mark me down as a vote for the shorter style sheet. Preferably the original 2 page style sheet found at the back of the PHB.

I think AP Character sheets would be wicked cool. My vote goes to the 4 page layout, not only is the extra space handy the Page Reference spot next to each feat has proven invaluable to me and my players who must often share books and have not a long span of time to game.

I'll drink to that!

I actually do use character sheets modeled directly after the new stat block format. However, unlike Takasi, I don't think an Action Point field is necessary. I do use one on occasion, though I also use Defense Options, Spell Options, Ammunition, and a host of other fields that the average gamer could probably do without. A character sheet that Paizo produced would have to be fairly generic in regards to campaign setting and character class, and would lose the individual flavor that gamers would, I think, prefer.

My suggestion would be to offer a couple of blank sheets with illustrated backgrounds that relate to the Adventure Path, and then perhaps an additional document with a template for making a character sheet in the style of the new stat block. Print the backgrounds, customize the fields and print over the backgrounds, and bam! Nifty Savage Tide character sheet.

I really like this idea, which retains the Savage Tide theme but allows for customization.

I think we'd want to keep the AP around for ale points, though. That's a very pirate-ish thing to do, me thinks!

Scarab Sages

Shouldn't it be GP then? Grog Points?

Patman wrote:

Nah, grog is usually a watered-down "something" - should be RP - rum points. Of course, you could have them all.

AP - Ale Points. Thought IPAP - India Pale Ale Points would be better, as IPA was designed to survive long ocean voyages.
RP - Rum Points!
GP - Grog points...
MP - Mead points!

Yarr, genius!

More rum, I say. More rum, ye laddies!

It looks like Able Drinker feat from Swashbuckling Adventures will be a requirement for the Savage Tide.

Come to think of it, are there any setting specific rules we want included on the sheet? Such as a primer on swim or balance checks, or perhaps Professsion Sailor?

That gets me this horrible idea for a prestige class like the Drunken Master but for wizards... Drunken Caster?

Isn't that a Wild Mage? ;)

Just make sure they're wearing the pink drink umbrellas in their hair and wielding the cocktail swords as if they were the real thing. :D

It would have to be really, really, really cool to make me give up the sheet I've been using for 3 years now (Madirshman's) but i can't say I'd be opposed to it. I am, however, much more of a 4-page guy myself.

From what we've seen of the two previous Adventure Paths, a lot of what Dungeon's creative team is capable of producing falls into the category of "really, really cool."

The Exchange

Has anyone been working on sheets for Savage Tide?

FH

Liberty's Edge

My vote is on a 4 pager tailored for the four basic class types and definatly Ale Points and Rum Points ... and maybe we can all beg Lilith to do this!

Holy Snikies!

This is the coolest idea evar! I am such a sucker for cool character sheets. I loves em! Yar! Do be givin 'us a wee dose o' the character sheets Paizo!!!

Nicolas, if anyone here can give the Dungeon folks a nudge about this post, it's you. Let's get their creative folks on board. I can't think of anything better to include in an Adventure Path "overload" than a stylish character sheet.

I agree that the new sheets blow big time. (having to flip pages to get at skills.....who thought of this?!)

I think one of the better character sheets out there is the Iron Kingdoms character sheet.
Has anyone else seen it?

The Exchange

Bump with me now!

FH (hoping for sheets)

Liberty's Edge

Yep - such sheets would be cool! Give'em to us, pleeeeeeaaase!!!

Great idea! By doing it this way every one will get the character sheet they want. No arguing about character sheet design.

My favourite is the standard sheet inn the back of PHB, even though they should get rid of the spell section. They should rather have a seperate spell sheet

take a look at this one. i have heard the cries for help and have answered.

I checked the link, but it says the image has been removed or deleted... can you give us a new link to have a look at your design?!

Linky-dinky

There was a space in the original URL that was typed in, which would give some issues. The link above should work, though.

Very nice, terrainmonkey! I likes it, I do.

here you go

sorry, don't know how that happened. take a look.

well, i tried it again, just remove the space in the savagetidepcsheet.jpg area and you'll do just fine.

Liberty's Edge

Either that or Im'a hafta ush a Cap'n Morgan bottle label.
And thass jesh shtoofid.

I think that they should make both a two- and four-page version of this sheet. I like the four-page version when I'm playing someone with a familiar etc. because they have room for it. Otherwise, however, I like the plain ol' 2-pager.

The Exchange

Where can I get free artwork of piratey stuff like treasure maps, jolly roger, eyepatches, hooks, peglegs, and stuff? I tried to do something with a graphics program I have but I have no artwork to use. I have the original Isle of Dread and plan on incorporating some of my own similar artwork for the sheet.
Come on people, lets get this idea movin'!!!

FH

I've worked up a Savage Tide player sheet for when my friend intends to run the adventure path.

Problem is, I have no way of posting/sharing the pdf, if anyone is interested.

I am willing to email it if anyone asks, so long as the demand doesn't get crazy.

If there are any takers, send request to ttaylor10il@yahoo.com. Be sure to put Savage Tide in the subject line so the email doesn't get trashed with the spam. :)

Just sent you an email, and am looking forward to seeing what you have going.

There was this page devoted to material for the first two APs, perhaps you could post it there ?

therpgenius by koramado , who posts on these boards as well. Perhaps he is willing to do a Savage Tide section on his page.

Stefan

There will definitely be a Savage Tide section over at theRPGenius.com archive. I'm working on it now to be ready when the first chapter comes out. I'll post to let everyone know when it is ready.

Koramado

I'm still holding out hope we can get an "official" sheet out of Paizo before the next issue comes out. It's blind faith, I admit, on my part -- because I've yet to see a posting by someone who could make it happen.

In the meantime, anchors away!

BTW, got your sheet and I like it. What I have been picturing is a sheet that looks like something you would see looking down onto a table in the cabin of a pirate ship.

I love the style you used with using the different creature graphics and the color scheme but I was looking for more Piratey. I will probably use it and some others so players will have a choice of sheets to use. I am in the middle of doing one up and will send it to you when I am finished to see what you think.

Glad you like it. That's the thing about character sheets, people want to personalize them. It's very hard to find something where one size fits all. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

The Exchange

OK, I found artwork and put together a cool background for the sheet but I have no prayer of suddenly gaining enough Microsoft Works knowledge to make the sheet to overlay onto the background. I have designed a sheet that encompasses everything I would want in a sheet by combining the aspects of 3 or 4 sheets into one-2 page sheet. I have scanned them in and have them to use as reference for an Excel or some other program document.

I need help. Anyone with the expertise and time to do this? I can send all the scans and files to anyone wanting to do it.
I did the easy part and thought "wow, I can make a character sheet!" until I started messing with my lack-luster software package (Microsoft works) and saw how lacking my skills are.

Help me Obi-Wan...your my only hope.

FH (holding cinnamon buns on either side of his head)

Wish I could help, FH. But, I do all my work in AppleWorks on my Mac. For home use, there is very little that Appleworks can't do.

Fakey has already made his pleas to a certain Demon Queen...mwah-hah-hah!
