I am generating some true (or close to true) rumours for my players to hear among fake rumours. Sort of like things that foreshadow major future events in AOW.
Here are some:
Free City is really ruled by a gang of doppelgangers that control the city.
Alhaster to the north is ruled by an evil king who is building a huge tower as a monument to himself. But he is really doing this to protect himself from a good dragon.
A storm somewhere in the middle of the Nyr Dyv often brings down boats to their end. Strangely this storm is often reported in the same area.
Anyone got any others?

Turrosh Mak is dead!
The town of Magepoint, to the north, is under the protection of the Circle of Eight (False; Tenser/Manzorian used to be a member)
Tombs of ancient god-like beings have been discovered in the Cairn Hills.
Lizard folk have been spotted outside of the Mistmarsh.
A black dragon was seen flying over the Cairn Hills recently.
Weird-looking undead covered with worms have been spotted walking around at night.
Vecna used to live here!
Orc pirates are attacking vessels on the Nyr Dyv.
The Eye and Hand of Vecna have been found by some warlord up north.
Wood alcohol poured on a worm from a zombie will kill it.
(I don't know if this is true or not)
