Just finished Zenith Trajectory, and we have...

Elf Rogue 7
Half-Dragon (Copper) Ranger 2 / Fighter 2
Aasimar Cleric 6
Human Bard 7
Human Evoker 5 / Red Wizard 1

On hiatus we have a Gnome Wizard 5, and a Tiefling Warlock 5

I've found running with 7 players is still challenging, and doesn't unduly weaken the party via xp or treasure. We just finished Zenith Trajectory, and everyone is about 1000 xp shy of 8th level ... just about right. Everyone is doing an audit of their treasure, but I assume it's about right as well...

Just about to enter the Malachite Fortress:

Human Monk
Human Ranger
Elf Cleric

-All are level 3 as we speak-

Between Zenith Trajectory and Demonskar Legacy, set in FR.

5 PCs

Human male Wizard 8
Human female Priest 8 of Selune
Human male Monk 8
Human male Hexblade 4/Ftr2/Kensaï2
Aasimar male Rgr1/Ftr2/Pal4 (future Knight of the Chalice)

Bran

We're just about to start with the Demonskar Legacy.

Human Cleric of Mystra 7/Hathran 1
Sun Elf Wizard 5/Incantatar 3
Human Rogue 4/Ranger 2/Cavelord 2

The second session of Demonskar Legacy a new player will come into play with a human Ranger 1/Fighter 4/Pious Templar 3 who's going for Knight of the Chalice.

The cleric also has a cohort who's a human Barbarian 1/Fighter 5.

Wow ... a lot of us seem to be starting Demonskar Legacy all at once ...

Yeah, I noticed...

This is a bit OT, but I finished Zenith Trajectory just before the summer, before I received the HC. Because of that I had Celeste meet the party at the Cusp of Sunrise, instead of Vhalantru as it said in the HC. Also, I still had Celeste running around, instead of being bound to the painting in Vhalantru's study.

So I told the players that they received a new message from Celeste a couple of days after they came back to Cauldron, saying that she wanted to discuss something important with them at CoS by sunset the following day. When they arrived there Celeste was of course nowhere to be found, and no amount of detective work or divinations could locate her. Worked like a charm, the party is now genuinely worried for her.

As of the Ruins of Karran Kuraal we have:
Simon Trueblade - Male Human, 12 Paladin of Heironeous

Bonebreaker - Male Halfling (Reincarnated from Goliath) 11 Barbarian

Azurius Foundling - Male Half-Aasimar (Smoking Eye) 11 ranger

Erasmus Bufont - Male Human 10 Rouge, 1 Fighter, 1 Shadowdancer

Toric Grimgirn - Male Dwarf 10 Cleric of St. Cuthbert, 2 Contemplative

Toric is the recent replacement for
Keira - Female Elf 12 Wee Jas Cleric (who was killed by Ike's destruction)

Snalacious is the recent replacement for
Namfoodle Garrick a.k.a. Zook Turen a.k.a. The Fnipper
male gnome wizard 11 (killed by Kaurophon)

Other than these recent deaths, the barbarian died once (ressurected) and there was an NPC cleric who was killed by Skaven. Not bad, not bad at all.

My party have played one session, just about to talk to keygan gelve..

game is set in my own world called Maccallah, in this world its still got dinosaurs and stuff, its quite like the love child of scared lands and Ebberon.

all first lv, so far Kal'kalla nearly died to the street thugs and Jill almost sneaked up and destroyed Harber.

Shinsaryn Trindove: (CG) male human cleric of pelor (wants to become a radiant servant of pelor)

Kal'kalla Baeneer: (CN) male elf rogue

Fendora Thabrillmar: (N) female human fighter (gonna go wizard later and alienist clas from CA)

Rayburi Nimnoss: (NG) male human fighter (wants to take weaponmaster later on)

Detht Mozzt: (N) male ratman druid of the great green

Harber Tinter: (CN) male abberation blooded monk, (with a tail and four arms).

Just about to start Drakthar's Way:

Human Cleric 4 (Pelor) (eagerly anticipating undead)
Human Warlock 4 (great for constructs & things in heavy armor)
Half-Elf Scout 4 (ranged combat specialist)
Dwarven Warmage 4 (wielding a pair of spiked bucklers)
Dwarven Fighter 4 (specialist of dwarven warpike)

We're set in Eberron:

Gnome Artificer 1
Warforged Wizard 1
Half-Giant Monk 1 (No ECL, dropped a couple of racial abilities)
Elf "Flametouched" 1 (A Cleric of the Silver Flame, using basically the spontaneous divine caster variant from Unearthed Arcana)

In Jzadirune right now.

Im also interested to see if you guys have had any total part kills or substantian deaths in any encounters that were very close too for comfort. You see im about to start my guys from the start and its based in Eberron. I just need to make sure I "encourage" my guys to have rest before any particular stages if they are tough. Hope that makes sense.

Just started Demonskar
Lilly Elven Sorceress / Dragon Disciple (Bronze)
Her Husband Cade Tall fellow Halfling Rogue / Wizard
Valbajoran, Human Fighter / Purple Orchid
Arn, 1/2 Orc Monk
Giegan, Human Sorcer / Barbarian / Rage Mage
Tyln, 1/2 Elven Cleric of Fharlargahan

We have been playing exactly 1 year now, more or less 1 / week. We lost one player early on when he relocated (we miss you Loran). We have had 1 TPK vs the Eyreness in Zeinith.

Only thing my group got in trouble was the Child auction
at the end of Life Bazar.
Because the Half Fiend Dwarv who was interested in buying the childs could Cast unholy Blight and that woudl have Killed the entire party at that time. Didnt used that ability.

Another tough figtht was the battle with Tongueeater.
Our great Dwarfen Leader sold all silver Weapons they found :).
The fight took them over 3 hours.
They only won because one Paladin got to the dead body of Darcem and used his Weapon.

So far my players haven't had any significant trouble during any stage of the campaign. I think the key to this is that one of the players always try to think ahead, coach the other players, and so on. He's also a big fan of resource management, which is key to making it through multiple encounters. When he couldn't attend after the first few sessions of Zenith Trajectory, which happened to coincide with the erinyes encounter, the party tactics collapsed and the first multiple kill was very close. They mamanged to pull together and pull through without any fatalities though.

So far, the only kill in my campaign was the party rogue who got squashed by one of the automatons in Life's Bazaar. There's been a couple of close calls after that (i.e. PCs at -8 or -9), but they've always had luck on their side, at least so far.

Just into Flood Season at the moment, with:

Human Cleric 4
Human Rogue 4
1/2 Elf Sorcerer 4
1/2 Orc Fighter 3

And the biggest hassle hasn't been Kazmojen's Bazaar - they just offered cash for the remaining three kids. It was actually the Undead Owlbear at the end of The Mad God's Key.

I threw it in to get them up to snuff for FS. Top adventure, and fitted in nicely.

It looks like they're having trouble with the Lucky Monkey, though. The were baboon's nasty.

My players are usually cautious, and I advise your PCs to do the same. They had a tough meeting with Kazmojen when they came back to loot the Malachite Fortress. On the first one, the wizard manage to charm him (a natural '1' on the save) and they got out with the children. Then they decided to come back. Bad idea. Kazmojen set an ambush and nearly wiped them out. Nobody died thanks to Alek Tercival who was with them on the second run but that was very close (all PCs but the wizard in the negatives).

Tongueater was tough too because they were long to understand he was a lycantroph. When they got it, the priestess of the Selune (with the moon domain from FR) dispatched him quickly.

The mooks from the Kopru Ruins around Triel Eldurast killed Takahena (the priestess of Selune) while the rest of the PCs were dealing with the redhead. It was a tough encounter because they had a brilliant idea at the beginning. They managed to charm a mook on the ledge, then they went all invisible behind her while she led them to Triel's room. But they attracted unwanted attention from some guards and had to manage with a dozen foes plus Triel. Takahena was raised by Jenya Urikas after the rest of the PCs used their reward to purchase a scroll from Skie's.

Tarkilar gave also a hard fight. I changed his spells to give him two Desecrate spells per day next to his altar (doubles the boni). They destroyed his allies easily but the spiked chain and the boost from divine favor, bull's strengh and shield of faith made the gnoll an unstoppable killing machine. He also neutralized the wizard with Blindness, and the Rgr/Ftr/Pal went down in two rounds... He was saved by the priestess (again) who critted him with her Moon blade for 34 hp damage...

At the end of chapter one the characters are

Seems a bit light on magic, though if both rogues have good Use Magic Device checks maybe they can just load up on the magic items. The party I'm about to start in SC is:

Half-Elf Cleric (Corellon Larethian)
Human Monk/Ranger
Elf Sorceress
Raptoran Shugenja
Halfling Rogue

I read somewhere that the SCAP was a "very tough" campaign for six characters, so I'm debating whether to give them a Companion Spirit (from DMG II) to help with a little extra healing.

As a side note, I see the Mad God's Key adventure pop up here fairly often as a fill-in adventure between SC chapters. I'm planning to run Mad God's Key as an intro to SC, and am thinking of replacing the main bad guy cleric of Vecna at the end of that adventure with Myaruk, the lich cleric of Vecna from Test of the Smoking Eye. He'd call forth the owlbear skeleton as written in MGK, but then rather than fighting the party he'd take the book and escape through a portal (opened with the Key) which would, conveniently enough, stay open long enough for the party to follow.

I think this would tie MGK into the TotSE, at least a little; when the party sees Myaruk near the end of that adventure it could be time for a little payback. They could also potentially recover both the book and the key from MGK, which would be kind of cool from a story perspective.

Dark Archive

We are one session into Life's Bizarre, playing from the magazines.

Kynan O'Breck - Dwarf wizard (evoker)
Bulney Brost - Dwarf fighter
Joryn Brost - Dwarf rogue
Kathyl O'Breck - Dwarf cleric of Moradin
Brother Aodh - Dwarf monk
Dwergal Karghammer - Dwarf bard (outcast son of a local noble family).

All dwarves, my group does this kind of thing all the time. It does make the group origins quite easy though.

My group is just about done with 'Zenith Trajectory.'

Callis: Human Male Druid 8
Gaspar: Human Male Fighter 3/Cleric 4/Radiant Servant of Pelor 1
Jayna: Human Female Rogue 3/Diviner 4 (aiming for 'Arcane Trickster')
Draken: Human Male Wizard 5/Incantatar 3
Ev: Elf Female Ranger 7/Beloved of Valarian 1

There were also two others at the start:
Talia: Half-Elf Female Bard 2 (stopped playing, so she got snagged by Vhalantru and is a statue in his house now).
Dryden: Halfling Male Rogue 3 (couldn't make the sessions, so he's currently a rat).

Draken and Ev's players just got married and left town, so they're NPCs for a short time until the other two players I've recruited go through some adventures and get to the right level for the rest of the party, they're currently:

Gavin: Human Male Fighter 2
and
Ahra: Half-Elf Female Sorcerer 2

And just leaving the Green Dagger ganghouse in 'Mad God's Key.' After that, I'm going to aim them at Cauldron, and run them through the extra adventure that was added for the Hardcover, and then come up with something of my own to even them out to somewhere around 6th level or so.

Heading into the Kopru Ruins next session:

Centaur Wizard 4
Halfling Barbarian/Ranger 3/1
Cleric of St. Cuthbert 4
Human Ranger 4
Human Rogue 4
Half-Dragon Cleric 3
Drow Bard 4

Seems like a party that should have an easy time with everything, but they they're struggling. Tongueeater and Kazmojen both almost did them in.

We are playing in the Kalamar game world and will be starting the adventure path in the next two sessions:

Sorcerer Gray Elf 2nd Level
Barbarian Half-Orc 2nd Level
Monk Half-Elf 2nd Level
Paladin Human 2nd Level
Cleric Human 2nd Level
Brigand Human 2nd Level (from Kalamar setting)
Basirian Dancer Human 2nd Level (from Kalamar setting)

I know the group is possibly a little strong at the beginning, but looking at the adventurers, it seems easy to adapt the challenges accordingly and eventually it will converge to the correct level requirements.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

My party currently consists of these four adventurers:

Monk 9 (with Vow of Poverty)
Sorcerer 6/Ranger 2/Fighter 1 (wants to become Eldritch Knight)
Cleric 6/Radiant Servant of Pelor 4
Halfling Rogue 5/Cleric (Olidammara) 3/Fighter 2

They just got to the Spellweaver Ruins in the Demonskar Legacy now.

Liberty's Edge

About to end Flood Season, in the Forgotten Realms:

Human Wizard/Cleric of Tymora/'Human' from UA 1/2/2
Kobold Sorcerer/Ninja 2/3
Changeling Swashbuckler/Rogue 3/2
Mongrelfolk Ranger/Rogue 2/3
Elan Monk/Psychic Warrior 1/4

Lvl 2 dwarf barb
Lvl 2 human bard
Lvl 2 human cleric of Mayaheine

Lvl 1 halfling rogue

Light on the arcane magic but I think they'll do fine.

My party just somewhat survived the assasin's attack at the beginning of Soul Pillars

I'm running the following group:

***SPOLIERS FOR PLAYERS***

I DM. The party call themselves The Triumvirate.

Only three players but I ran Evil Unearthed from DUNGEON #82 first (converted to 3.5) and placed it in Brookhollow (which I placed north of the Lucky Monkey on the road to port Sasserine with the advent of the SCHC) as the party travelled to Cauldron from Sasserine (a sort of road stop bonding intro adventure).

Halbarand: male human (Oeridian) Ftr3/Clr3/Pious Templar2 (Saint Cuthbert) LN; a total zealot who has become the Pious Templar for the Church of Saint Cuthbert in Cauldron, second in command after High Priestess Jenya and the Church's Keeper of the Keys. His brutal approach to the unlawful has already caused a stir with the authorities, and his zealotry is causing an increased level of militancy within the Church. Enraged at the death of Sarcem, Jenya has declared holy war upon The Ebon Triad, and Halbarand is the devoted instrument of the Church's wrath. Not a subtle man. The party's Intimidate man. Has taken the Scion of Surabar trait retroactively when the HC came out. The Judge.

Xia Sacari Kurruth: male human (albino Amedian Suel orphan) Cloistered Cleric3/Wiz3/Mystic Theurge2 (Wee Jas) LN; a learned man, one more used to books and study, he now realises the power that is his to command. With the Tomb Tainted Soul feat (which took some explaining to the paladin: "Don't touch me!") and the Death domain (as well as a focus on necromancy), his ambivalence to the undead (and the attitude of "if the undead are already there I might as well try and control them"), are all going to create problems with the other two. He aspired to become a Mystic Theurge which he recently achieved (and secretly a True Necromancer!), which Embril heartily encouraged, as she secretly knows he is Shackleborn (player asked for a "cool secret background" and since the SCHC came out retroactively the Scarred Soul trait) and has thus brought him to Cauldron as a reserve (she keeps this knowledge secret for now, to her own benefit, from the other Cagewrights at this point). She slowly tries to tempt him to evil with spells from the BoVD and Libris Mortis. He and Ike Iverson absolutely detest each other, although he gets on well with Calmus Vel. The only thing that Xia hates more than Ike are the "oiled meat-head loincloth wearing idiots who serve Kord". He passes the Temple of Lordly Might as often as possible and snickers at it. He currently has trained half of the Cathedral's acolytes as wizards, and it is these that will accompany the elite mercenary patrols later in the campaign. The party's Sense Motive man. The Executioner.

Stern Bloodwood: male human (Oeridian/Suel mix) Crusader8 (Pal variant without mount) (Pelor) LG; the friendly and reasonable face man of the party, but zealous and wrathful in the battle against evil. He has interesting theological discussions with Xia, mostly around undead and their use. Since Xia used command undead on a skeleton, that was part of an enemy group, that ended effectively saving the party from certain death, these discussions have become more focused on the practical applications of necromancy as opposed to the theoretical, much to Stern's discomfort. He is revatilsing the community around the Shrine of Pelor, has helped Kristoff stop being so ineffectual, and his kindness and friendliness is much loved by the common folk of Cauldron, who are starting to think of him as a saint (might eventually use the template from BoED as he is bound to sacrifice himself in the Test of the Smoking Eye). The party's Diplomacy man. Has taken the Nobility trait retroactively as a Noble from Sasserine who is now very well known, although is is considering fully severing ties to his family as he pledges himself fully to Pelor. The Jury.

They have just retrieved all eight wands and finished Flood Season. Had started Flood Season prior to HC being published so no Drakthar's Way. Will be starting Zenith Trajectory next Wednesday. As that module is for 6th level, that's four 6th level PCs or 24 PC levels, and three times 8th level is 24 PC levels as well, I am not too worried. Some encounters might be a little easier but others involving detection, particularly traps and rogues, really make them suffer. On balance they are still challenged.

my players had these choices and are at these levels at the end of chapter 2:
- human, fighter 2/psion (telepath) 2
- human, paladin 3/cleric of Kelemvor 1
- human, sorcerer 4
- aasimar, sorcerer 3

Just started (had two sessions, currently knocking round in Jzadirune).

Party is currently

Aasimar Cleric of Cuthbert
Astral Deva
Dwarf ranger
Goliath Barbarian
Tiefling Rogue
Elan Psion
Halfling wizard

The Elan and Tiefling are both technically evil, but not "kitten eaters", and the only argument so far has been about the Elan avoiding the halfling because he's filthy.

The elan is probably leaving the party/ getting bumped off in a few weeks as his player is moving home to Ireland. But I've got two players (looking at a grig and another Aasimar) who are lined up.

Out of curiosity, how strict were people with races they allowed, as the city seems to be based purely around "normal" races?

In Jzadirune on session 5:
Narthindlar Belmander, Human Enchanter2
Victor, Human Rogue2
Atala Zora, Human Swashbuckler 2
Dragor Tulor, Human Cleric of Pelor 2
Nedylen, Elven Scout 2

I allowed only the base races and those that are not too "monstrous" and with a level adjustment of +1 maximum.

I have a halfling wizard, a human bard, an elf rogue, 2 human clerics, a human barbarian (prisonner now), a thiefling rogue and a human monk exalted (dead by now).

I just started running the AP on Friday. 3 of my 6 players showed up. Those that did were:
Female Gnome Psion (Shaper)
Female Half-Elf Bard
Male Human Rogue
Male Gnome Cleric of Garl Glittergold (NPC)

The players that didn't make it are playing:
Male Human Barbarian
Female Wood Elf Fighter
Male High Elf Thief

I created a bunch of 1st level NPCs before the campaign started in order to fill in where needed, as we play every Friday but a lot of the players can't play every week. The gnome cleric will probably stick with the party until I've killed enough characters that someone re-rolls as a healer.

Scarab Sages

At the moment my group's party has just completed Life's Bazaar and they are currently in the process of following up some character related plots before we proceed to Drakthar's Way.

The roster is:
Torrek Spellmason (Dwarf Fighter 3 using racial subsitution levels from Races of Stone). Torrek is dedicated to showing the people of Cauldron that the founder of the city was truly a dwarf, and not a human wizard as most believe. Has the Scion of Surabar trait. He is the party's front-line fighter.

Ander Aslaxin (Human Wizard 3): Ander is the middle child of the Aslaxin family and is both resentful and competetive with his older brother (and heir to the family fortune) Zachery. He has taken up adventuring in order to both gain personal power and show up his older brother. Has the Noble trait and is the party's primary diplomat.

Penelope Littlesprout (Halfling rogue 3): Penelope was an orphan raised at the Lantern Street orphanage until she finally ran away and taken to life on the streets of Cauldron. She still maintains contact with Patch, who has taught her what little he knows of the larcenous arts. She recently discovered she bears a invisible birthmark on her cheek. She has the Scarred Soul trait.

Damien (Elf Warlock 3): Damien is an elf who wants to prove that he is, in fact, a good person, despite the demonic origins of his powers. He possesses the Demonscarred trait.

Sorin (Shifter Ranger 3, using the substitution levels from Races of Eberron): Sorin was raised in the wilds surrounding Cauldron. One of his distant ancestors was a were-tiger. He is currently working with Tyro Amberhelm in order to locate the missing orphans, for a price.

Obedient Brother Gwydion (Holy Warrior 3, taken from Green Ronin's Book of the Righteous): Gwydion is a servant of Wee-Jas who became involved with the party after investigating the assassination of the local locksmith Ghelve after the gnome was imprisoned for aiding the kidnappers. He is at odds with the church in Cauldron, as he belongs to a different sect of the church.

Liberty's Edge

My group is just finishing up "Thirteen Cages" and everyone is pushing 18th level. We have kept the same core of players together and nearly kept the same core of characters together. Of the 4 characters, 3 have been there from the beginning. The one that died was a druid that was killed in "Flood Season" and his body was never recovered. There have been a number of PC deaths since them but the party has always maintained a single goal: Keep the high level cleric of alive! She has raised or resurrected everyone at least twice now. Even she was killed once but she was resurrected by Jenya, the high priest of the Church of St. Cuthbert.

Here is our roster:
Geldas: 17th level male half human/half celestial Paladin
Raven: 17th level female half orc cleric of Kord
Aph: 9th level female human barbarian/8th level rogue
Dwar: 17th level male dwarf barbarian.

The Adventure path is deadly so either have backup characters or protect the cleric until they are high enough to cast raise dead.

my players had these choices and are at these levels at the end of chapter 3:
- human, fighter 3/psion (telepath) 3
- human, paladin 4/cleric of Kelemvor 2
- human, sorcerer 5/ arcane devotee of Kelemvor 1
- aasimar, sorcerer 6

We are in the middle of Demonskar Legacy, usually run with between 4 and 8 PCs. The lineup from the last game looks like this:

Human Cleric 9
Halfling Rogue 9
Half-Kender Evoker 6, Oozemaster 1 (character-created prestige class--yes, he *does* play with oozes and has a small gelatinous cube familiar)
Dwarf Figher 7
Elf Warlock 7
Halfling Bard 6
Halfling Druid 5, Master of Many Forms 1

We also have a Human Barbarian 4, Rogue 2 who is on temporary assignment. There have been a number of other characters who have joined for a while and left (either via death or player attrition). We have had a couple of different druids, a soulknife, a ninja, a samurai, and a ritual warrior, to name a few, amongst those who have left. I also killed off the halfling druid/mmf last night, so the player is going to bring in a paladin.

It has been fun, as well as a challenge to keep up with the party.

We started our first session last night. We had to close up our previous campaign and draw up characters, so there was little time spent actually adventuring in the SCAP. But here are the characters we have, all 1st level.

Dwarven rogue
Human fighter
Human necromancer
Elven favored soul
Human cleric
Elven ranger

The party configuration looks pretty "vanilla" compared to some of the groups on here, but there's a certain "old school" charm to it, I think.

After Foundations of Flame:

Simon Trueblade Male Human Paladin of Heironeous 14
Bonebreaker Male Halfling (Ne: Goliath) Barbarian 14
Toric Gremgurn Male Dwarf Cleric 10/Contemplative of St. C 4
Erasmus Buefont Male Human Rouge 11/Fighter2/ShadowDancer1
Azurius Foundling Male Aasimar-type w/ Smoking Eye Ranger 13
Vortimax Weer Male Wizard 13/Archmage 1

you have Vortimax Weer as a player? hehe...

Yes. In an attempt to keep this thread relatively spoiler free, please see the "How Many Character Deaths" thread for why and how he's now a PC.

Just began my campaign. I used the "free ECL" variant from Green Ronin's Advanced GM's Manual and I run all published adventures in the Second World setting, which allows for modern characters. As my group was small and I have heard tales of tough going in the early adventures, I figured the bonus ECL would balance nicely.

Daldin Kaer - m Chaos Gnome Sorcerer 1
Akilah Sanchez - f Ved Qayat Strong Hero 1 (Wyrm Blooded)
Tash - m Uthuk Shaman 1 (Scarred Soul)

We're just done with Flood Season. I'm running in a modified FR:

1/2 Orc Fighter
1/2 Orc Evoker
Halfling Rogue
Dwarven Cleric of Moradin

The fact that we have two 1/2 orcs in the party means it's going to be a little different for them now that the 1/2 orc mercs start showing up in the town guard. In fact the fighter is going to get recruited for the city guard (who knows if he'll accept, I doubt it) in the name of "diversity".

We're coming into the winter when nothing much happens in SCAP. I've got the final wrap up of the Flood Festival as the heroes' feast (as suggested on these boards), and I'm saving the Demonskar Ball for a mid-winter celebration.
