If you choose to have the townguard dominated, you can make them insist on helping the party when they want to go back down. At their first encounter, the guard will turn against the party, which will lead to some confusion and questions about the town guards. (remember the last laugh guards from Life's Bazaar)

I don't use EL experience system. I try to keep my five players one level higher than the suggested level. To do this I use a lot of extra adventures between the main campaign. They will get more equipment and contacts. But it will last much longer, and they get to know their character before they gain another level.

I would have allowed attacks of opportunity. As long as people are aware of each other and not flatfooted they can use attacks of opportunity.

Flat-Footed: At the start of a battle, before you have had a chance to act (specifically, before your first regular turn in the initiative order), you are flat-footed. You can't use your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) while flat-footed. (This fact can be very bad for you if you're attacked by rogues.) Barbarians and rogues have the uncanny dodge extraordinary ability, which allows them to avoid losing their Dexterity bonus to AC due to being flat-footed. A flat-footed character can't make attacks of opportunity.

Had Fetor used his greater teleport or dimension door scroll? I would have teleported him away, and used a skirmish tactic against the party.

We have just finished Life's Bazaar. The two most dangerous encounters in that adventure are the Grell and Kazmojen. The grell has 11 attacks each round and killed two of my players. And the choker is quite dangerous...

In Jzadirune on session 5:
Narthindlar Belmander, Human Enchanter2
Victor, Human Rogue2
Atala Zora, Human Swashbuckler 2
Dragor Tulor, Human Cleric of Pelor 2
Nedylen, Elven Scout 2

I agree. The Grell should be listed as a CR 6. The only thing that support that it's a CR3 is its hp. I played with 6 players, all level 2 last saturday. Two PCs killed, one got below zero. I had to make Fario and Fellian come to the rescue to save the day. But with two PC-deaths, they will get cash problems so I will have to make a sidequest which they later can do for the Wee Jas temple. Something evil:)

I've been reading on this board for a few months now, so it's time for me to share some of my thoughts. I've decided to run Challenge of Champions from Dungeon #108 in Cauldron. During the Flood Festival. There won't be much advertisement, since Vhalantru doesn't want new adventurers to come to the city, but this is one great way for him to get information about the adventure parties close to Cauldron. In the Adventure Guild there will be a registration form which all my players will have to answer.

Party Name:
Name:
Class:
Completed Missions:
Most Dangerous Foe Killed:

I will have Vhalantru to open the games with a speech about how lucky Cauldron is to have so many adventurers. And he will be the one who will reward the winning party. A little time after the Challenge of Champions parties will be disbanded, killed or chased. Through Completed Missions Vhalantru will see how powerful a party is.
