A Vin Diesel interview would be fun to read, since he's mentioned being a gamer on TV in interviews. The article could talk about how he started gaming, what published adventures he's adventured in, his favorite character, whatever. Then have Wayne Reynolds paint his portrait as a D&D character fighting a dragon, with Kirsten Dunst as his half-elf sorcerer sidekick, and put it on the cover.
Oh yeh, and it's raining in the painting, so Kirsten is wet.
Man, I'm full of good ideas today. :)

I agree. That would be super cool. :) If you read these boards, Mr. Diesel, feel free to have your people contact my people (or just me directly, as I don't really have any people) and we can set up that interview. :)

Uh...I think you're thinking of a different magazine, Tony. ;)

I think Vin Diesel has said what his favorite character's name was.... I have no idea where, tho... I think it started with an M tho.... So sayeth Taricus... or sumpthin' (I'll have to find that reference.... Just think... I could be Sage Taricus--rivaling the power of the current sage, but mastering random D&D trivia, instead of game rules.... Ah... The POWER! I could take over WORLDS!!! MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH! oh wait... maybe not....)
And, yea, u were thinking of a diff mag, Tony...

The sage Taricus boggleth my mind with all the .... business. But I think the character's name was Malkor and he had it as a tattoo on his chest or back in Triple X. Wasn't Malkor Sauron's old boss or something?

Yeah, I think he was talking about him on Conan O'Brian show. I've watched xXx to find the tattoo, and there is some writing right above his belt, but its too far away to read, but I think that's where it says the name. I think he said the character was a double-specialized drow witch hunter, except maybe I think you could take Weapon Specialization twice in 2nd edition. So that's probably the double-specialization. Witch Hunter I have no idea, except there is a prestige class in Oriental Adventures called Witch Hunter, but that is 3rd edition (could be a 2nd edition version though).

A fighter could take more than one level of specialization with the 2nd ed. Player's Option: Combat & Tactics book. Proficiency, Specialization, Master, High Mastery, and Grand Mastery. And Witch Hunter was a fighter kit, I believe... Think they even used that kit in Baldur's Gate 2 (I don't know very many kit names, tho).

~And Witch Hunter was a fighter kit, I believe... Think they even used that kit in Baldur's Gate 2 (I don't know very many kit names, tho).~ Not in the core game, no. Might have been in The Darkest Day, or another mod (I mention TDD because it had tons of kits). Trust me on this one, I'm a BGII expert.
Whoever wants to see Vin Deisel talking about d&d, just buy 30 years of adventure. The forward is by him.

A article in the magazine where celebrities talk about D&D would be pretty cool...
Like "Wil Save"?
That's the first thing I read in Dungeon. : )
Wil Wheaton may not be as sexy as Vin Diesel, but he's a bona fide famous dork and proud of it!

I never read "Wil Save" but I suppose that sounds like what I mean... I mean what that sounds like... You get the picture... I hope... Anyhoo, YEs celebreties should talk about gaming (esp D&D [obviously]) and maybe if they have characters or classes they made up those could be published and that would be cool.

Vin Diesel wrote the forward for the hardcover 35th anniversary book for D&D recently. In it he very eloquently describes his history and experiences with the game. his favorite character was his half-drow thief. interesting connection with his real life.

I wouldn't mind seeing any interview with any celebrity. (As long as it is coherent anyway, don't bother interviewing Ozzy (though the man is awesome)).
Well, I'd certainly like to put together an interview with a celebrity who plays D&D. I've heard that Vin Diesel, Wil Wheaton, and Robin Williams play (no, not together, although that would be cool). We have Wil's contact info (he writes for Dungeon, after all), but if you have Vin or Robin's contact info feel free to email it to me! ;D

So much celebrity-related thread necromancy... This must be an ill omen. Do we have anyone in the party good at guessing plot hooks?
I'll take a crack.
I think what happens is that I begin a slow campaign of testing this wonderful celebrity impersonator, even though I know it's only an impersonation. Then, losing themselves to my convoluted trap, they keep running off to IMDB to check facts. So, for instance, I mention 'english major' in a post and the impersonator goes off to research the college in question to be Hunter. Then he, or she, says "Hunter College," but I just press on with my vague interrogation by bringing up obscure Dieselia that clearly only an impersonator would feel the need to expand upon, because if it was Vin desperately punching at the air, it would overly sad.
So this sly questioning and quick factual answering escalates to a nauseus cresciendo, back and forth like Gods volleying frosty comet 'cross the net that divides them--and oh, would I be so self satisfied for having trickled such a potent honey tea down into the gearworks of an unsuspecting psyche--until eventually... we all learn in the paper: (Put your hats to your chests)
"Vin Diesel admitted to the hospital. Spokesman says he is suffering from severe stress but won't comment on..."
Weeks later it comes out that a D&D site was involved and contributed to his fall which leads to yet another decade long moral majority persecution of our beloved hobby. The resultant guilt over the trouble I'd caused would lead to my disconnect and hermitage. I'd romance an addiction to extra-strength sucrets and daytime-television-binging until grey matter swamp farted from my ears and all I could say for myself would be an enthusiastic, "Gubby!"
I think the path will steer us that way.
