Kingmaker CRPG Kickstarter Goes Live!

Developer Owlcat Games is proud to announce the launch of its Kickstarter campaign for the party-based fantasy video game Pathfinder: Kingmaker! Players will be able to shape the history and destiny of their own kingdom, by choosing the path of tyrannical rule, subtle diplomacy, or trickery and deceit. Subjects of the kingdom and companions in the party will love or loathe these moral decisions and the chosen path will influence the development and appearance of the kingdom's capital city.

Strengthened by narrative designer Chris Avellone (Fallout 2, Icewind Dale, Knights of the old Republic 2, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, and many more), Owlcat Games presents their ambitious goals for Pathfinder: Kingmaker. The campaign includes multiple stretch goals that fund a whole new level of development options, like story chapters, additional races and enhancements to core game mechanics. In return, gamers seeking to back the project will reap unique rewards in their digital or physical copy of the final game, ranging from discounts for early backers to in-game items, beta access, figurines, to even digitizing their real-life pet!.

Will this be ONLY single player or will there be a CO-OP function. I don't really do MMO, but to play directly with some friends? That would be cool.

Short answer, the dev have stated that they prefer to focus on a top quality single player experience, instead of diverting ressources to create a multi-player mode. Not that multi-player will never happen, but if it does it may be through DLC after the game is released.

FINALLY! Now please Please PLEASE tell me we'll be able to make our own parties of four PC's instead of just one! If we need to recruit an Iconic Pathfinder character we can just use the Leadership feat (like in Storms of Zehir)! I really hope we get to create our own party in this!

I'm in at the $25 Early-Bird funding. Every scrap of news makes me more hype.

You will create your own character and, as you adventure, you will have opportunities to recruit companions to fill out a party.

That's exactly what I DON'T WANT. Storm of Zehir enabled us to create up to four party members who we could call our own and then use the Leadership feat to recruit NPC companions if we wanted. Please don't limit our options for party creation in this game Vic and Owlcat Games!

It's being considered as a stretch goal if there's demand for it. But you need to comment on the Kickstarter comments page for them to see your demand. As a Side Note there are 6 person parties, not 4 person.

Otherwise here's what we know so far and the dedicated thread for the game.

Shelled out 225 for one of the Collector's Editions. Looking forward to it.
