Preorder the second printing of The Tome of Horrors Complete!

Don't miss this chance to grab this monstrous manual a second time!

When we told folks about the Tome of Horrors Complete through our newsletter announcement earlier this week, our limited supplies of the book vanished so fast we were pretty much stunned. Before people had a chance to read their emails, this one-of-a-kind book disappeared from our store as people preordered the final copies of the entire print run. We watched the final copies tick by, not even 24 hours after we sent an email letting people know that the preorder was almost gone. Publisher Bill Webb and his crew from Frog God Games conferred with their fans, as they were promised that this would be the first and only printing, but more fans wanted the Tome of Horrors Complete! What to do?

By popular demand, Frog God has decided to produce a second printing of this book after all (with a new cover) and this time we're doing something we rarely do for preorders. We're giving this product front-and-center attention, to make sure everybody sees it and gets their chance to preorder this legendary tome, now available in its second printing—The Tome of Horrors Complete: Unlimited Edition!

When the first Tome of Horrors was unleashed, the 3rd Edition of Dungeons & Dragons had just been released, and we were all hungry for the monsters that we had come to know and love in earlier editions. Problem was, we didn't have some of them in the original Monster Manual, but Necromancer Games answered the conversion call...three times! Each new volume of the Tome of Horrors made sure that none of these monsters faded into obscurity, and from the very first volume of the Pathfinder Adventure Paths, we used these tome to enhance our Pathfinder adventures. Finding a printed copy of the Tomes these days is hard, but the chance to use some of your favorite old school monsters has once again returned!

With months of work from Frog God Games, all three volumes of the Tome of Horrors series have been converted to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and put into this massive book—bigger than even the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook itself! More than 750 monsters lurk within over 800 pages, from the CR 1/6 clockwork drone to the Demon Lord Orcus himself! (He's CR 35—think twice before you enter into his demense!) No creature type is missing from this book. If you've longed for more fey or oozes to add to your game, they are here and ready to wreak some havoc on your PCs!

This book isn't just about monsters, though. The appendices bring more fun to the game. New templates like the debased fey, foo creature, and paleoskeleton creatures are ready to apply to any Pathfinder RPG creature, and hazards like bookworms, gas spores, and memory moss can populate any dungeon you want to put them in.

This tome of infamy isn't all that Frog God Games has to offer—check out their old-school gaming adventures right here, available as both Pathfinder RPG and Swords & Wizardry versions!

I've already got a copy of the original printing, but I wanted to just say that I'm glad that there is another chance for more Pathfinder gamers to get this awesome book!

With the 1st print run Frog God Games only took preorders for like 6 months. Hardly any time at all. Maybe you guys should send out an email or something. That might drum up a couple of sales. ;-)

Any chance at all to get this book from a distributor in Europe? I really would like to buy it, but 800 pages probably mean 40+$ shipping.

As a fellow European I can tell you the shipping for me (for the original) was $49.75. A lot but... it's the Tome of Horrors what more can I say?

I would simply be happy to have received the first printing of this book that I ordered back on 3 Jul 2011.

They just finished shipping them out yesterday I believe (at least the ones shipped directly from FGG and not from Paizo). And they only arrived from the printers a little over a week before that. Shouldn't be much longer.

I like this second printing cover so much better. Oh well (I ordered the first).

I hope everyone who said they missed out puts their money where there mouth is.

So this is an adventure? Or mega dungeon? Pathfinderized? Dose it include everything I need to run it? like all the monster stats, maps ect?

And how will the print edition be made. Will it be in color? What kind of paper will it be printed on? Like one of paizo's supplement books?

It's a HUGE bestiary filled with all the monsters from the original Tome of Horrors I, II & III that were published by Necromancer Games for 3.0/3.5. It is available in print and as PDF.

I've heard it's printed on a thinner type paper than some other products, but the book is stitch bound to hold up to lots of use. They've compared the binding to something you might find in a college textbook in terms of quality/durability.

It's a monster book. It contains:

702 monsters
31 templates
18 hazards
8 planes of existence
24 monster feats
16 new subtypes

As well as a few other miscellaneous goodies. Cover is (obviously) color, interior is B&W. Can't really answer about the paper, as I haven't received my print copy yet. All stats updated to Pathfinder. 818 pages.

Did you read the product description?? I'm guessing not.

Folks, folks... ease up... maybe Triga stopped at reading/seeing "Return of the Tome of Horrors" and mistook that for "Return to the Tomb of Horrors". :)

But... playing "Devil's Advocate" aside... yeah I'd say no reading of the product description was done. ;)

Pre-ordered mine from FGG waaay back in March... should be getting mine soon... oh so soon. :D

The Exchange

I don't wana stir the pot per say... but, I do want to get my thoughts out there in the mix... I actually dropped the 1st print run in my cart and just about pulled the trigger on this. However, at the last possible second, I changed my mind and bought that iPad 2 I have had my eye on forever.

One of the things that brought me so close, was the fact that I figured that this was close to a 'collectors' item. It seemed like the print run was small enough, and the demand high enough that I'd have a good chance of my 100$ purchase actually increase in value.

Rare though that may be with RPG books, it's not entirely impossible, ya know?

Anyway, I didn't do it, so I really don't have a pony in the race as they say... but - on the flip side, a 2nd 'unlimited' printing, sort of defeats the purpose of buying a 'collectors' limited edition Print run of a book.

I recognize that it's not Paizo publishing this... but I will say, that this '2nd release' DOES make me more hesitant to 'pull the trigger' based on a books possible collect-ability based on a small '1 time only' print run that sounds like was originally advertised.

n just to put it out there, I recognize that with a new cover, a new title 'unlimited' etc. that it's not 'exactly' THE 'collectible' 1st edition run... So legally they are off the hook and all. But c'mon spirit of the law was definitely breached here just a bit... or at least badly bent don't cha think?

and FINALY word... at least now, I'll be able to shell out for it in the future and I agree with a previous poster, the Cover IS much nicer than the original. Soooo, bottom line, Business's do things to make money... and this most likely will get mine.

I guess I'll just file this under the "Wade, Stop using the 'but this comic might be worth hundreds of dollars some day' rationalization technique" that I should have grown out of when I was 12 to justify buying my RPG Toys. :-P

Really? Because it's the same basic cover with a slightly different color scheme, and a bit of text added. If anything, the Unlimited version looks less ominous...and the Tome of Horrors SHOULD look ominous. The color scheme is lighter, and the "fangs" look much less sharp. I personally vastly prefer the original cover.

Oh yeah, and some of the most valuable books in the world are books that have had many MANY subsequent printings.

I agree, I think the cover on the Original is extremely nice, while the cover on this reprint is very blah and bland.

It shouldn't be the task of Frog God Games or Paizo or any other RPG publisher to create collector's items first and useful RPG supplements second. The fact that the Tome of Horrors Complete was originally planned to be just a small print run was not based in collectability but in pure business reasons of simply being able to create it at all in the first place. If an RPG supplement becomes a collector's item through a small print run for what ever reason, that - in my eyes - is not good for the game. People should have access to these supplements, and not just a select few. Creating collector's items on purpose only benefits the eBay sellers anyway, gamers are left in the dust and/or have to pay through their noses.

I am a customer of Frog God Games for the first edition of this book, and I don't mind at all that this book is being made available in a bigger printing. The whole issue of this book is making the material available again. Enforcing the scarcity of the first printing defeats this purpose. Paizo will be making use of the book in their adventures, and it is good that the book continues to be available.

If you want collectible stuff for the sake of it being collectible, go to Franklin Mint or whatever. A living game should not be subjected to the mechanics of a collectors' aftermarket, especially not on purpose.

In all honesty, it being a "collector's item" wasn't meant to be a selling point. The selling point was that we could only afford to do so many of them without breaking the bank.

Paizo helped the first print run be larger and the only reason following run was changed was to respect the people who DID buy it as a collection piece.

What I find interesting, however, is that the only non-favorable response I've heard is from someone who didn't purchase the book in the first place.

You're right, if you didn't want it for what was between the covers, then you shouldn't buy it.

The reality is that if it had not been for Paizo, there would only have been ~500 Tome of Horrors Complete (PFRPG) based on the presales we at Frog God recieved. Thanks to Lisa, Vic and the folks at Paizo, who ordered a thousand of them, more folks were in fact able to purchase the limited version of the book.

None of us (and I think Paizo too) ever expected to suddenly sell out within 12 hours of Mr. Mona sending out the mass email on Thursday the 15th. It took us all by surprise. And frankly, speaking for myself, I am happy that we have been able to provide this extremely useful book in the Unlimited edition for more persons who want it.

I'm glad that so many have discovered FGG because of this, and I hope they give your other amazing products a try as well.

Hi I missed out on the 1st edition printing because I was to slow responding to the email message. I did however, buy the pdf version (from Paizo). Now that there will be a second printing available, is there any chance to get it at a price that would equal the print/pdf bundle price?

Well, speaking for myself, I am someone who had not heard of FGG before Tome of Horrors Complete and I have now preordered The Slumbering Tsar Saga and The Tome of Adventure Design.

Don't let me down, FGG!

I don't think you will. :)

I stake my meager reputation on the line here, Hobbun. You will not be disappointed. :)

So, what is the guestimated timeframe on the second printing? I was going to buy, but then I see people who waited six months for the first printing? Just curious what sort of schedule we're looking at here.

It's looking like the end of October. Now, I don't think that anyway actually waited six months from the time they ordered, but from when the book was announced.

Also, keep in mind that many of us ordered before the book was complete. That will make a world of difference in the delivery schedule.

Ordered!

I was on vacation when the email was sent regarding the first printing and was sad that I had missed it. Prior to that, I didn't know what I was missing.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the PDF in my downloads immediately after placing my order! Can't wait for my copy to arrive.

As for first cover vs second cover? I could care less as long as the stuff between the covers is the same!

It is here! It has arrived! The precious (my precious) Tome of Horrors - Complete has arrived. It was sitting at my place at the kitchen table just waiting for me to unpack it. :D

A really big (i.e. HUGE) thank you to everyone involved with this book, from compiling it, working on it, sorting through the orders, and packaging it and shipping it out. You are all incredibly wonderful people, each and every one of you.

Take a bow. You are all AWESOME!

Received my copy yesterday, in perfect shape.

I was a bit surprised on how light it was, I was expecting it to be heavier. Although I am sure a lot of that has to do with the paper not being as thick compared to the more heavyweight, glossy pages that I've usually seen in my hardcover gaming books.

Not saying it's a bad thing, just indicating it was different than what I'm used to. :)
