Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope the middle of the week mini-boss isn't hitting too hard. :)

Female Gnome/Harrispania Wizard/2 | AC: 12/15 | HP: 17 | Darkvsion (60')| PP=8 | S=2 D=2 C=3 I=7* W=0* Ch=1*

Gameplay post going up tonight when I have a real keyboard in front of me. For Wylla available actions, is she able to move and cast? Or is it one or the other for her?

male

You can move and take one action

Female Iarishean/Wood Elf Monk 2 | AC 15 | HP 15/15 | Darkvision 60 ft. | PP 14 | S +3, D +5, C +1, I -1, W +2, C +0 | Insp: [ ]

I'm confused. Is one of them stabilized?

Female Gnome/Harrispania Wizard/2 | AC: 12/15 | HP: 17 | Darkvsion (60')| PP=8 | S=2 D=2 C=3 I=7* W=0* Ch=1*

I think the one I splashed with water is stable and waking up, but the one Isaiah was working on bit it.

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

Yeah Orc 2 made his death saves I think

male

Each character receives 50 experience points for defeating the Tafganor (orcs)

male

I have started a new version of the map of the Known World, which now shows the Ulflands - there is not much detail, but it should at least give you an idea of where each country is located. It is in the links above

male

Wolfgang - that was an great post, loved it, but in the future please remember to add something in OOC font that lets me know exactly what special ability or spell is being used to make something like that happen, just so I can be aware of what character abilities are being used.

Also, the orc was bound, so in order for him to flee, someone would have to state that he is being set free

male

Klodd - its probably important to look closely at the 5e rules for darkness and dwarves and elves (darkvision) , there is a bit of a difference from older versions. You can see in darkness as if it were dim light, but that doesn't mean everything is normal. In dim light you have disadvantage on perception checks that rely on vision, but at least you do not suffer the blind condition, while characters with normal vision do suffer the blind condition if the area is in Darkness

I actually didn't know that one. Makes it easier to stealth past creatures with darkvision I suppose.

Ah. Duly noted.

Mind you, Ayita had been advocating releasing the orc so strongly, that I sort of assumed she'd be untying him.

Um, should one of us do that?

Wolfgang would but...remembering to be merciful isn't exactly in his wheelhouse. =)

Female Iarishean/Wood Elf Monk 2 | AC 15 | HP 15/15 | Darkvision 60 ft. | PP 14 | S +3, D +5, C +1, I -1, W +2, C +0 | Insp: [ ]

Ayita advocated not killing the orc because she's not evil but she doesn't care if he is stuck lying around bound for awhile either. We can always let him go on the way out.

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

I would've cut him loose but I was kind of climbing down the ladder

male

Wolfgang is correct, but probably not for the reasons he might be imagining.

We created a variation of "kobolds" for this campaign setting, beginning with the Palace of the Vampire Queen 5e game. I've added a note to the campaign info thread about Kobolds, and similar information can be found in the link to the campaign setting journal

male

I have added a new post to the Journal which describes a bit about the faiths of Baravkovia. This is mostly Wolfgang's work, with some editing by me.

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

Nice Mythology there guys!

male

Is that a threat, like that Monty Python skit where the mob guys say to the army commander

"Those are some nice tanks you got there."

male

Oh and by the way, this setting could really use a thieves guild in conflict with the "Green Hand"

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

I'm sorry if my sincerity didn't come through- I like the stories. I'm a world builder myself!

As far as a rival Thieves Guild, where might I find more information on the 'Green Hand'?

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

Have you ever considered using roll20 for maps? It's free. As you asked for a map I mocked this up just now- the system is dificult at first but it gets easier with use- I've been using it for my tabletop game for four months. Let me know if the link works
Go to roll20 'Castle Caldwell and Beyond'

I made the PC tokens with rptools

Then you can screenshot the map to share in Pbp games
Go to Imgur Caldwell_1
or give players the option to move their tokens around in the roll20 app

Something to consider...

male

I haven't created a roll 20 account, but I think I will look into it this weekend

That map looks great (though the passageway is in the wrong place) thanks!

I normally use mapTools for maps (and TokenTool for the character tokens).

But, haha, that wasn't exactly what I meant in my post. You see, if one of the Characters doesn't explicitly take action to start creating a map (you know, and in game map) either on the back of a wanted posted, or on a piece of parchment you purchased just for this occasion then there is a chance the party can become lost in the dungeon, depending on how complicated the turns and twist become, how many doors you barrel past, and other factors.

I've updated the encounter map in the link above, which isn't nearly as pretty as yours, but does have the passageway in the right place.

Remember, we are not using a tactical map, so I hope that won't be a problem.

If I can figure out how to use roll20 this weekend I'll probably start using better maps.

Thanks again

Female Gnome/Harrispania Wizard/2 | AC: 12/15 | HP: 17 | Darkvsion (60')| PP=8 | S=2 D=2 C=3 I=7* W=0* Ch=1*

I've used the heck out of Roll20 in the past, so feel free to bounce any questions you have around here.

That said, thankfully Wylla always runs around with things to take notes and jot down whatever ideas she may have for designs. She will gleefully make a map. Kobold designs may make for interesting jewelry.

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

Terquem- Yeah sorry I wasn't entirely sure where the corridor was

No problem not using a tactical map- I'm honestly just happy to be playing and enjoy the Pbp style. One day I'll DM my own

Wylla- I'm glad you'll keep a map. If there's something extra I can do for the group I volunteer myself, such as a loot list for sale or division

Yeah, whenever I've used roll20 in a PbP, it always seems to improve things. So many questions are answered before they start.

I thought it might be faster is sometimes we make the roll when we grant someone advantage?

Female Iarishean/Wood Elf Monk 2 | AC 15 | HP 15/15 | Darkvision 60 ft. | PP 14 | S +3, D +5, C +1, I -1, W +2, C +0 | Insp: [ ]

I don't care what we use. But I have a roll20 account to log in if you wish to go that route.

male

Been a busy week, should be back on Tuesday

male

The current map is updated, showing the turn in the passageway and the two available doors

male

I'll give everyone a change to roll their own initiative, but tomorrow, I will update with a combat post and if anyone hasn't rolled by then, I add it to the post as I am building it.

Male Baylor / Dwarven - Hill {Spells 1: 3/3} {1 DD} Cleric (War Priest) / 2; AC-18; HP-23; Darkvision 60'; PP=13, S+1, D+0, C+3, I-1, W+5, Ch+3 (Advantage on poison & Resistance)

I don't mind rolling, but would prefer that you roll, and group us for combat. I find that this really speeds up combat... which is often the downfall of successful PbP games.

Human Fighter 1 Rogue 1 | In. +3 | AC 15 (17 shield) | HP 15 | PP 19 | Str +2, Dex +3, Con 0, Int +1, Wis +2, Cha +1

I agree. If you'd like to feel free to roll for me

male

current map is updated showing 4 giant wasps. The wasps are not meant to be human sized, the tokens are meant to show about where they are. The wasps are actually about the size of small to medium sized dogs, or perhaps a large house cat

male

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. Like most of the rest of you I'll be busy for the next week, but I will try to get things updated.

Enjoy the festivities if you can
Cheers,
David

male

I hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday time of year, and maybe getting a few days off. I have been busy, weird since I am an empty-nester, seems I am more busy during this time of year than when all my children were home.

I ended one of my games in the past week, which was the first time I actually ended a game here (instead of the game ending because of lack of interest). That game started in June of 2014.

I am playing a marathon session of Time stories today, I got the three expansions for the basic game for Christmas, yay!

I hope to be updating all my games tomorrow.

male

I hope everyone had a great holiday season, and looking forward to another year here on the forums. I intend to struggle through some awkward posts to try and get these games moving again. Please check in so that I know you are still around.

male

We are back, after a long delay, I hope everyone can make it back when they have a free moment.

male

We are not using tactical maps, the maps only reflect the general dimensions of an encounter area and the presence of monsters, mostly we are working off of a "theater of the mmind" sort of combat

Male Baylor / Dwarven - Hill {Spells 1: 3/3} {1 DD} Cleric (War Priest) / 2; AC-18; HP-23; Darkvision 60'; PP=13, S+1, D+0, C+3, I-1, W+5, Ch+3 (Advantage on poison & Resistance)

I'll be on a week long business trip, but should still be able to post from the hotel. Don't let me hold things up if not however, and feel free to DMPC my character.

male

Wasp Attacks: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 4) = 14

I am using the initiative order to determine what character is attacked

Grinling (1)
Isaiah (2)
Wylla (3)
Wolfgang (4)
Ayita (5)
Klodd (6)

male

Each character receives

66 experience points

for defeating the 4 giant wasps
