Good Bunch of Minis

4/5

The second set of Starfinder's "Iconic Heroes" miniatures includes the Iconic soldier (Obozaya), solarian (Altronus), technomancer (Raia), and mechanic (Quig) plus the mechanic's hover drone (Scout). Like with the first set, the price point on these is fairly high considering the number of miniatures you get. That being said, the sculpts and colouring are really impressive. I've used several of these in Starfinder Society games, and haven't had any issues. If you've got the money to spare, you probably won't be disappointed.

Series 2 Impression

4/5

Okay, just got it in, long time table top game player and painter [40+ years]. First, the detail is GOOD on these minis. Painting was spotty, my Vesk had an excellent paint job, while my Lashunta was poorly done. The other pieces had acceptable paint jobs, but the Lashunta will have to be repainted. Material choice is good, a nice balance of being a little flexible to protect thin pieces from breaking and stiff enough for good detail. Overall, I am satisfied with the set.

Finally!

4/5

We waited a VERY long time for this product. I'm not sure it was worth the wait considering the hefty price tag, but let's look at each miniature individually...

Obozaya is my favorite model of this series. His detail is excellent from the armored coat to his multi-toned scale color. His head looks especially good. If there is any issue its that his doshko might be a bit brittle, but proper storage and care should resolve that. 5 Stars.

Altronus is another good looking model with lots of detail and good color mix. The only issue I have are the visible mold lines on his head. I guess that the same high pressure molding process they used to reach the detail was also a problem avoid the mold lines. 4 stars

Raia is not very impressive. Her overall black scheme hides any detail and her head is so mottled its hard to tell any detail other than her antenna which are too thick. Course any thinner and they would be a breakage risk. If she was a "normally" prices miniature, I would have no problem with the detail, but at this price point, she is an elite mini and the detail is just not there. 3 stars

Quig suffers from lack of color. His mostly black/brown/dark green scheme cover a good portion of his detail, though it you get up real close, he looks much better. At least he's sized about right. 3 stars

Quig's drone looks better than his master. It benefits from having a simply design without a lot of complicated add-ons. The pistol is identifiable on the gun platform underneath. 4 stars

Overall, this pack has a mix of good and mediocre. I generally like the models and am impressed with Obozaya and Altronus, but the combination of long wait time left us expecting much better detail across the line. Wiz Kids could have easily produced models just as detailed in less than half the time and for a lower price point.

WHAT THE FRAK Paizo and Ninja Division Games!!! $39.99 + shipping for 4 pre-painted miniatures. Or $79.98 + shipping for both sets. I feel like our wallets are being space hijacked. Get rid of all the extra plastic packaging if it will help cut down on the price. This is going to put a big dampener on those looking to play Starfinder.

I have to agree. The pricing Is high. I'll stick with the pawns.

seconded its going to have to be pawns for me as well. they look nice but the price point is a hard no.

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Maps, PF Special Edition, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Maps Subscriber

Yeah, these may look nice but they are quite expensive, even with the discount being offered on-site (which is misbehaving when I add it to cart and not stacking with Paizo Advantage). If I got my 30% Battles discount, I'd be snapping these up as $25 for 5 minis sounds fair given lack of randomization bringing down per-unit costs, but I don't (nor do I see why I would, as this product line is completely unrelated to Battles).

For $10/figure, I want to be able to buy just the ONE that I need, not that one and three that will sit in my mini box and rot. WAY too expensive for what you're getting and certainly way too much for the GM to buy the minis he/she needs for the campaign.

absurd price point.. sorry, but for our Starfinder sessions we'll be using space mini's from other games for less than half of that price. What are you folks thinking?

Agree with all of the above!

As these have been moved to march because Paizo wasn't thrilled by the paint job, i guess even fewer people will buy them.
I know i will only get them if they are dirt cheap.
Some online stores offered them for under $30, but that's still to much imo.
$25 would be okay.

March is done and April is upon us.

Still no word.

I'm in the kickstarter that's producing these, and it looks like the kickstarter stuff should be rolling out within a month, so hopefully we'll start to see more minis, maybe singles, maybe cheaper random packs, in the near future
*fingers crossed*

These are on the same production timeline as the three other packs, so should be on sale at GenCon and should show up in retail stores later in August.

They're in manufacturing right now and we have both seen and approved minis coming off the production line. We had a full set of all 4 packs at PaizoCon for display, along with 25 minis from the unpainted Masterclass line (the Kickstarter minis) that constitute the May and June shipments to backers.

There's still nothing on the website that even hints that these will be available anytime in August. Or indeed, anytime at all.....

"Hey Marco, Yes we can confirm that the pre-paints have begun to arrive in distribution and we've received ours for Paizo.com.

Ninja Division has not set a uniform street date for these so the next step for us is to try and find the best date to begin shipping them out to those that pre-ordered from us. Most likely this will begin later this week so get your pre-orders in while supplies last (or go to your local FLGS and grab/order them)."

Our local game store has these for the same price, but they can be found elsewhere cheaper. Sorry, but if I can pay 25% less *and* get free shipping I don't have a lot of incentive to pay extra.

Grand Lodge

Actually if you play anything in your FLGS, there is a large inventive to buy your gaming materials there even if you're paying a few extra bucks to do so. Without your FLGS, you wouldn't have a play many of the games available today. You might not get exposed to many of the non-main stream games. FLGS often have demo events to try out new games. They often provide the opportunity to thumb through a game product before you actually decide to buy it. Plus, most FLGS do have discount programs for people who frequent their store. It might not be 25%, but for most game products the difference between 10%, 15%, 25% is usually just a few dollars. Not enough to get overly excited about.

tl;dr there is almost always good reasons to pay extra to buy from your FLGS.

Fair point.
