The Last Cut is the Deepest

Monday, May 7, 2018

This week, we look at the final batch of Pathfinder Battles Deep Cuts miniatures coming out in the July wave, wrapping up a brief series on the unpainted plastic miniatures from our partners at WizKids. Each of the figures below is sold individually, and is pre-primed for your painting pleasure.

Both figures this week are mounted warriors with a lot of versatility. The first is the knight on horse. The sample paint scheme depicted below shows him as a knight of Iomedae, with her holy symbol emblazoned across the knight’s tabard. The figure could just as easily be painted with the symbol of any nation, faith, or organization to fit the needs of your campaign.

Facing off against the knight on horse is the similarly named skeleton knight on horse. While not as easily adapted to represent a player character (unless they’re undead PCs, I guess. Anything’s possible!) this figure makes a great addition to any undead army, especially those fighting for the Whispering Tyrant, the nation of Geb, or summoned by a particularly powerful necromancer.

Pathfinder Battles Deep Cuts aren’t the only unpainted plastic miniatures available for Pathfinder and Starfinder, though. In addition to the Pathfinder Bones figures from Reaper, we have copies of the Starfinder RPG iconics and their ship, the Sunrise Maiden, from Ninja Division back in stock, so get yours today!

Keep posting your custom-painted Pathfinder Battles miniatures on social media with the #PathfinderBattles hashtag, and we might feature your work on a future blog! Heck, why not paint the Starfinder iconics with the #StarfinderMasterclass hashtag? The sky’s the limit, miniature lovers!

Mark, since you mentioned Starfinder minis - any news about the prepainted ones?

I hope we get a sneak peak at some more Kingmaker minis next week. ;-)

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16

Pretty hard to find RPG minis of mounted characters!

Knight on horse looks really good and would pair nicely with the Crown of Fangs Reclamation Calvary. Alas, I have zero talent and patience for painting. Any chance we’d see a PPM vesrion of him in the future?

Kingmaker minis likely won't start their previews for another month or two, to give Jungle of Despair time to shine. Minis blogs might shift into broader licensing blogs in the meantime as a result.

As for Starfinder prepaints, we have now seen and approved factory production copies of the figures, so Ninja Division is actively producing them in bulk. When we have a more concrete date that we expect them in the warehouse, we'll let everyone know, likely in one of these Monday blogs.

I'm in the kickstarter for ND's Starfinder minis. The first wave is supposed to be shipping out out very soon. (Latest update that I saw says "last half of May"

Soooon. SOoooooon *pets the precious*

Scarab Sages

These look very nice. Will there be a halfling Order of the Paw mini?

Thank you, Vic.

It's nice that the ppm's will finally be available - with a one year delay none the less.

Will Flumphs ever get some love in miniature form? Currently they don't seem to exist from any manufacturer.

There are currently two Flumphs(A and B poses) listed within the Tome of Horrors line at Pace Setter Games:pacesettergames.com. They are metal mins that paint up nicely.

Hmm, I just googled it and the first image was of it in modelling putty form and at first I thought the sculpt looked terrible but the painted versions people have done don't look too bad. Not a fan of metal though, or of paying for sculpts I could replicate with my own limited skills, so will wait till reaper bones or deep cuts or pathfinder battles (nudge nudge) makes one, then I will buy like 6.

Hey Mark, if you're still looking for ways to fill the "empty" weeks between now and when you can start back with the Kingmaker pre-painted reveals, I suggest spending a week--perhaps this Monday or next--on the PaizoCon Promo miniature. That is assuming there will be one this year.

I can't remember how many promo minis are made for PaizoCon. I want to say one or two, but I don't know for sure. I think last year's was a Skeletal Champion? I won't be able to make it out there for the convention, but I'd love to see the offerings for those that will.

Will there be more blog posts coming again soon?

Mark Moreland wrote last week, that previews for "Kingmaker" will start again this week or next week.

Kingmaker is atm scheduled to release on october 17th, which is tomorrow in 9 weeks.

44 minis (including the six dungeon dressings) are as yet unrevealed, which means that each preview has to contain at least 5 minis if all content will be shown before release.

I have yet to decide if to order a case or just two bricks, as we have only seen 1 large uncommon (Troll Leader) & 1 large rare (Oni Mage).

I don't like it when previews are cutting it so close to the release date, as i have to put my order in early enough with my FLG store or i won't receive ANY minis if i am unlucky (so far that has happened two times).
As it stands now, i have to decide next week if i want a case or not.
I hope that i have seen at least three more large uncommon minis by then, otherwise i have no real data to decide... :-/
