Rules for Tiny weapons?

Rules Questions

I'm just wondering where the details on acquiring tiny and smaller weapons are? (Made an Eldritch Knight that turns into a Xiao to fight and he needs a rapier).

As far as I can tell, there are no rules for the price of tiny weapons. Most GMs would probably allow them to cost the same as small or medium weapons.

If not, could you buy a small rapier and use it two handed? Or do you need to keep a hand free while attacking?

if you magically are changing size any gear you have resizes with you.

Quote:
When you cast a polymorph spell that changes you into a creature of the animal, dragon, elemental, magical beast, plant, or vermin type, all of your gear melds into your body... If your new form does not cause your equipment to meld into your form, the equipment resizes to match your new size.

A Xiao is a magical beast so in this case the equipment would meld rather than resize.

If you got hold of a Huge rapier and cast Shrink Item on it, it would turn into a tiny rapier for several days. Unfortunately there are no rules for buying Huge weapons either.

If you bought a Large rapier (which there are rules for) and cast Shrink Item on it, it would turn into a Diminutive Rapier. So if you ever need one of those...

I do in fact need a hand free for casting :( I guess we'll have to just treat it like a small weapon xD how big do you think a tiny rapier is?

Yeah the meld rather than re-size is an issue, I'm thinking he could wear it like a brooch or a pin xD

You can't just take one hand off the weapon as a free action and then cast your spell? I guess if you're wanting to take advantage of the Spell Critical ability that might not be allowed.

A rapier is about forty inches, so a tiny one would be ten inches. Might work as a hatpin, but I think you'd have to throw it to the ground before transforming to avoid it melding into your body.

I assumed that wouldn't fly for spell critical also my way into EK was Swash and I have it in my head I can't parry riposte with a free hand. Although that might just be me.

oooo a hat pin, that could work. I'm assuming flicking something out of my hair is a free xD

Scarab Sages

Resize Item is a spell that lasts 24 hours and will adjust a weapon or armor up to 2 sizes up or down.
The Resizing weapon enchant always adjusts the weapon to your current size. It only costs gold without adding to the current enhancement.
The Iron Lord's Transforming Slivers will also permanently adjust a metal weapon 1 size category per 1000gp application. You will need to be your intended size when applying the slivers.

OOOO that seems good.

I think tiny rapiers features in Shrek.

I never realized that we only had pricing rules for Small, Medium, and Large weapons.

Interesting. We should totally make a FAQ thread for this.
