I like my PDFs, but for an extra $7, I can also get the entire volume pre-made in Foundry? Which is where I planned to run it anyways?

This is a no-brainer purchase, best of both worlds. I've picked up Guns and Gears and Book of the Dead through Demiplane for similar reasons - if having the PDF copies as part of other platforms' purchases is the plan going forward, that makes me a happy consumer, and gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up from me.

Big thanks to Steven (stonesnake) for organizing RPGSuperstar this year, it's been a real surprise to be rewarded in such a way for what I thought was an unassuming-yet-solid (much like the rock-bug itself) design.

And working with Patrick Renie to design the bigger and beefier evolutionary cousins in the "lapisopod" genus was an absolute treat, bouncing ideas back and forth. I can't wait to see the final product and the coating of "Paizo gloss" they received from his experience as a developer.

Here's to the next RPGSuperstar!

First table: Snuck past the opening to A2, broke into A4 with a successful Pick a Lock check, spotted the traps within, grabbed One-Who-Waits, and then sat in ambush while the party ranger's bird companion swooped in and created a diversion. Then when Meleeka and the disciples investigated, they noticed the open door, springing the trap. Meleeka and her disciples are soundly trounced, but no one in the party has a high enough Diplomacy to attempt to turn her back to the 'light side' (classic good role play / bad roll play).

Second table: Greeted Meleeka as merchants of antiquities, then were subjected to the Trial of Embers. Completed the first two events without issue, winning them - then confronted Meleeka with the truth as she was about to return One-Who-Waits. Party face attempts to make a Request to hand the statue over without a fight, she obviously refuses. Initiative is rolled, same sorcerer casts sleep, resulting in two failures and a critical failure for the frightened Meleeka and her gang. PCs tie up the monks, then attempt to turn her. Still waiting on the results of that one (play-by-post game).

to Leo: All in all, a great scenario! I love the ability to approach the solution in multiple ways - give the PCs a more open box, and they'll start thinking outside of it!
This, coupled with the finale of the Rose Street Revenge means I'll be looking forward to running the next thing with your name on the cover. :]

Rez feels a sharp crunch, and sees the sand-cat licking its muzzle. C'mon, I can't taste that good, slag off, you no-good... what the hell are you, anyways?

Life Science (Recall Knowledge): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Trick Attack (Acrobatics) check, DC 20+CR: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

Rez really doesn't know what this cat thing is, assuming it's a mundane local fauna. If it's a magical beast like he fears? That question will forever elude him, as the Mystical mysteries of the galaxy completely elude him (no ranks).

In any case, that ought to provoke an attack of opportunity, but when I was looking over my skills, I remembered that at 3rd level my trick attack bonus damage goes up to a d8, and my copy-paste combat macro had the old d4. Drive fast, take chances, right?

Oof. Haven't dealt with Stealth in Encounter mode yet for the Playtest, and I gotta say, it really doesn't feel great having to sacrifice an action (or two!) when a character is within line-of-sight and doesn't even roll well enough to beat even a passive 10 + Perception mod.

If your compliance is not offered, we will be forced to take up a most regretful and severe form of intrusive force in order to secure the object in question!" He taps on the door with his morningstar, then continues his tirade. "We come to you with a generous offer of mercy to simply comply with an easy and harmless act of surrendering the object in question. In doing so, we will not pursue any retributive vengeance on behalf of the offended party, and you will be allowed to walk away from this most regretful misunderstanding of property rights."

He pauses for a brief moment, then continues. "If, on the other hand, you wish to pursue a path of obtuse resistance? Well, we have tools at our disposal for breaking down any barrier you wish to put between yourselves and the right thing to do. And they happen to be wielded by a beefy slab of a half-orc in our employ!"

Here's hoping it's the northern-most one, as...

Phedran is lost in the haze of combat as something whips past his head, and his half-orc ally caves in the skull of the man he followed into the alley. "You give a foot of slack-line to someone, and they just go and yank it out of your hand!" he says to no one in particular, then he unloops his morningstar from his belt, wading past Hank and Karthurg.

Phedran peruses the note, then reads aloud. "It is addressed to a... Gorocs. Perhaps that was the late loutish orc chieftain who is now darkening our doorway as a heap on the floor?"

Phedran clears his throat, then continues.

"Greetings, honoured leader of the Gurlak’s Cave tribe. In this chest you will find the agreed-upon reward for retrieving the statue for me. I trust you to complete your task, so I have sent this payment in advance. Once the raid is complete, take the statue to the designated spot and place it in a bag. Give the bag to my... hawk?."

Phedran re-reads that last part, but is certain that's what it says on the piece of animal skin the note is written upon.

"I know that you are capable of this task, so may your treasure and the spoils of your raid serve you well if you succeed. However, know you this: should you fail me, or try to trick me, not even Nulgreth will be able to prevent my swift and terrible revenge. Signed, simply 'B'."

"My meagre experience with spell-tricks like this is that sometimes the simpler the illusion, the easier it is for the mind to process. No one would think twice about the sight of a cookfire in a window, for they are as common as a copper piece."

One request that I'd like to make is that whoever is rolling Gunnery checks, to do so under a spoiler tag. They're the last to act in a starship combat for a reason.

If you can see the outcome of the die rolls and know your ship's attacks this round are likely going to be misses, it crosses off a bunch of options for the other roles. (Encouraging as a captain, boosting the guns as an engineer, maneuvering to get a better weapons arc as a pilot, or target subsystems as the science officer, etc.)

It'd help keep the element of chance and surprise in resolving combat rounds that playing at the tabletop provides.

Post-Fight:
Corbett feels a chill wash over his body as the wand activates. The skin on his forearm slightly itchy, he unwraps the makeshift bandage to see the open gash mend itself like a baker would tamp a pie crust. "By the wee, wiry whiskers of an owlbear's beard! You'd never tell there's ever a cut there." He turns his arm around, checking in the moonlight for the sheen of a scar. "Freaky, magic is. "Aw, I'm just kidding. Feels like brand new!" he flashes a smile of yellow teeth, then walks away to join the rest of the group, spear resting on his shoulder.

Corbett snorts, curls his tongue and spits at the tracks left by the fleeing bandit. His heart racing from the rush of armed combat, he steadies his nerves, then looks at his forearm once again.

Oof! Much deeper than I thought. Gotta bandage this up soon as I'm able.

He turns his head to the south, seeing Winterhawk with bow in hand. "Glad to see yer okay." he says with a nod, then shouts behind him into the treeline, where he can make out a few shapes that look like the rest of his party. "How's about you lot in there? All in one piece?" he sets his spear down, takes a knee, then shrugs his pack off his shoulders. Rooting through it for a moment, his shoulders slump.

... Crab, you dolt. You forgot to resupply after that last job. He lets out a sigh. Okay, no bandages. Any simple bit of cloth'll do. He grabs for his knife, but there's an expanse of nothingness where the handle ought to be. "Oh, right. That kobold jumped out of the way, and the damned thing kept going, right over the tower railing... Gods, Crab. You're having quite the go of it... Tearing a section of his shirt sleeve, he rips it into a strip, then winds it haphazardly around his wound. After tying a short bit of rope around it in a bow, Corbett has wrapped the most bloody, horrific present one could ever gift someone.

@Ladile: Green bandit's attack of 17 with the sickle would actually be a hit, as I lose my buckler's shield bonus from using my off-hand to attack last round.

With the entire weight of Corbett's lunkish frame behind the spearhead, he glances down at his bloody forearm, then leers madly at the skewered cutthroat.

Corbett sees the bandit with the crimson armband retreat loose another missile from his sling, and so he turns his body to the side, hearing the whizz of the stone.

"You just try that again, I dare ye!"

Combat Crunch:

Move: 10'
Standard: Attack bandit (red) with longspear (reach)
Longspear (two handed): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
-1 ATK, -1 AC due to using a buckler with a 2-handed weapon (17 AC until next turn)

Corbett fakes a high attack, then with turn of his wrist, his hands drive high, and the spearpoint flits down towards the bandit's legs. "You make me chase after you, boy? You'll be more'n sorry!"

"Go and help the others. I will handle Kalkamedes here."

Corbett grips his longspear tight in hand, and knocks his boots against the butt-end with a one-two tap. "Aye, I've been fixing for some excitement, all this damned walking has nearly stiffened my blood!"

He gives the oread monk a nod and wink, then begins to trod towards the melee in a jog. A few paces later, he plants his feet astride Kronas, brandishing his spearpoint towards the greasy bandits.

"OI! You wee shites have picked the worst possible band of travelers to attack, and if you so much as toss another rock in our direction, I'll see it rammed down your throat by the time I'm done with ye!"

Corbett, no stranger to combat, eyes up the bandits. And his player wishes he spent a point in Knowledge (local) in order to actually have this bit of flavour text yield some sort of information, ha)

Corbett scratches at a small scar on his chin, then ruminates. "... well, I tussled with a bear in a fightin' pit once, but she was a lame sow that I think used to be in a travelling circus..." he looks at Jyrrar, then perks up a touch. "... more a show than anything; didn't much hurt her anymore than she hurt me!"

Corbett hears Kronas' voice in some dark, echoing recess of his cranium, then digs in his pack. He looks up into the ether, not knowing exactly how he's to talk to Kronas, but keeps his voice soft on the wind. "Aye, wee lad; I've got a bit of hardtack and some jerky here -- both're hard as rocks, but hells; food is food, and most bears I've encountered don't strike me as the picky type."

A dull, muffled clinking rings out as Cavasin's back flattens against the wall. Noting his grey surcoat spotted with crimson blood, he stifles the urge to scream. Frustration, or pain? I'm not injured... he thinks to himself. Terror? It's just a pile of books, he attempts to convince himself. A pile of books animated to life by some blasted arcane witchery.

Taking a knife, he cuts a strip from his simple tabard that hangs loosely from his scale-plate harness. As Cavasin tries to make some sort of sense of the flurry of action going on around him, he attempts to assist in the best way he can. "The Lady has no need to see you leave this plane anytime soon", states Cavasin in an attempt to reassure the injured Iliyana. Not that I have any say over who the Lady takes for Judgement...

He takes his glove off, and extends his fingers as far as they will spread. A positive energy emanates from his hand, and a small surge of energy washes over the caretaker.

Corbett's in the same boat, albeit 30 rounds. Bigger lungs thanks to higher amounts of hot air getting pumped through them when regaling strangers of his past glories, or something of that sort.

Corbett chuckles at Kridash’s comment, appreciating the tension-cutting nature of an errant joke or two. ”Right? I’m sure there’s a farm down the road, we could always borrow a cow’s bell, ring it ‘round his neck so as to not lose track of our man…”

Joking aside, Corbett begins to think of the difficulty in protecting the sleeping Kalkamedes if they were to encounter any unsavoury types along the path, or defending against the local fauna. ”The way he’s thrashing about, it’s going to be a time trying to keep him from hugging a cave bear or something foolish. Maybe we stake him to the ground if we come across something unsavoury?”
