GM Batpony |
Welcome, named players, into the game! For those who have yet to play with me as a GM, do take time to read through my profile to give yourselves an idea of how I run games and my expectation (or at least how I run it for PF1).
For reporting purposes and prep, do post a link to your character profile/sheet and do let me know your PFS id.
Sivrilltri Ilosim |
SanityAwol here, I went with Noble Paladin of Iomedae. My sheet is done and posted. Can you please give it a once over I am sure it is correct but first time and all. ID is # 122088-1502. Thank you for allowing me to play.
GM Batpony |
I'm going to send out messages to the rest who haven't showed up this weekend, and let's set a hard start date on 15th Sept!
Mavis the Maroon |
Introducing Mavis the Maroon, Wizard extraordinaire!
Just need to finalize the purchases.
# 338402-1502
Taleath Oakbough |
Salutations!
Last minute addition. Stereotypical elven Scout Ranger, really.
Got more to do to transfer info from the fillable sheet to the profile, but, gotta get started somewhere . . .. Has really empty pockets, but both a healer's kit and a repair kit.
PFS 15864-1501
Not sure what the "best" marching order might be. Taleath is a switch-hitter Ranger at this point, with the Double Slice ability to use both weapons for now. I dropped in 3rd, because, well, I needed to go somewhere.
EDIT: To be clear, given the below response, I'm more worried about who we're going to leave in the back than I am about being up front. Unless I draw weapons before the combat starts, I can't even attempt the Double Slice until the second round. (1 action to draw 1 weapon. 1 action to move. 1 action to attack with the 1 weapon. THEN 1 action to draw the second weapon. 2 actions to attempt Double Slice. Versus 1 action to draw bow. 1 action to set Target for Hunt Target. 1 action to shoot bow. THEN up to 3 attacks (last would be foolish, but possible) in the second round.) Quick Draw is very important for two-weapon fighting in this engine, if I am reading it right.
Liranna Vomoyosana |
Oh hey! I mainly went second since I planned on utilizing a lot of flanking in melee with Sivr, but I could go third in the marching order if you wanted to go before me?
Mavis the Maroon |
Ok Mavis is all finished and updated with the new PFP update.
She is a traditional squishy mage with reach spell. So she will stay near the back using her crossbow until 3rd level or so. She is pretty good with diplomacy (+3) and deception (+3) though, so she is happy to do the talking.
Abishek Padiyath |
Abishek was my attempt to make the Occultist from Darkest Dungeon. (seen here)
Thanks to the finesse property, he's not entirely useless in melee, so he'll pick his spots with some debuffs, then support with telekinetic projectile or a whip (because I've never played a whip-user before).
Taleath Oakbough |
My apologies. Been doing some preparation work, but it is time to knuckle down and focus.
Moving from my apartment to a rented home. Movers arrive Wednesday.
I hope to be reach a new normal schedule by Monday.
I'm not supposed to be without internet except while moving my home network, but . . ..
GM Batpony |
Hey guys, some of you might know that there was a recent playtest update/errata.
We do want to make sure that the feedback we provide Paizo is up to date, so it makes sense for us to at least incorporate the changes in between quest.
Also as we're coming to a close on the first quest, this is a good time to provide feedback on your experience. Granted this playtest is even new to me, let me know if you're being provided enough information/guidance from me, or do you need more? Additionally, if the playtest is just not to your cup of tea, in between quest would also be a good time to drop out and give your honest feedback to Paizo.
Taleath Oakbough |
1.3 will make a huge difference for Taleath, as Rangers lose Double Slice, and the replacement (whether for melee or archery) includes the penalty for multiple attacks on the second attack.
At a quick glance, though, it appears those double attacks are a single action versus Double Slice's two.
Oh, and Taleath was intended as a ranged build, but there were no ranged selection at Level 1.
Obviously going to make a difference.
Mavis the Maroon |
I will update my sheet asap. For sure by Sat
GM Batpony |
I'll be honest and I've not looked closely at the updates yet, but let's target to have our characters updated to 1.3 over this weekend, and I'll start the second quest on Monday! Let me know if anyone has any concerns.
Liranna Vomoyosana |
Sounds good! I’m not exactly sure what happens for rogues at the moment either. All I know is the untrained bonuses go down at the moment, so I’ll need the weekend to look it over as well.
Taleath Oakbough |
Okay. Big stuff is moved. Probably 11 or 12 trips of loose "things" from our storage garage to get, yet, plus whatever's still in the apartment.
Have my bed set up, the entertainment center set up and configured, my computer set up (and a wireless NIC added because it is too far from the router to wire !), and I've found my clean underwear!
So, now I can type on a keyboard instead of trying to cram my fingers on the fake keyboard on my phone. Time to try to catch up, after I share the post across my games.
Taleath Oakbough |
Really only two changes that mattered to Taleath's build:
Doubling the penalty on untrained skills.
Having a ranged combatant feat available as a class item at first level.
So, done, I guess.
The First Aid feature combined with the altered skill DC table looks interesting. 10 minutes to get up to 6 people (including self) mundane HP healing? Makes me even happier to have the Medicine skill. Taleath has to roll a 9 or better on the die to succeed, so a 19 will net a critical success.
Sivrilltri Ilosim |
I am currently working on my skill changes. I seem to have encountered an issue.
My background is Noble, Noble comes with "Trained" in Lore:Nobility and "Courtly Graces" Feat.
The requirement for Courtly Graces is "Trained" In Society. My sheet says I was previously "Trained" in society but I cannot remember if I took it as a free skill or spent one of my starting skills to take it.
The changes to my skills in the update now force me to take 2 trained that I did not previously take. Religion and Intimidate. It also dropped my free choice by 1, it equals the same amount of skills just less choice.
If I am required to "purchase" Society it further drops my choice by 1 only allowing me to choose 3 skills total.
does this seem like the intent of the update or do you think it was an oversight?
GM Batpony |
I thought I read that you were not required to meet the pre-reqs for background feat assignments?
If you follow the character creation steps, you are picking a background before you have selected ANY trained skills, after all.
I thought the same as well, but there is no consensus yet on the matter. Some people suggest you only get the benefit of the feat only if you meet the pre-reqs.
For the case of this game, assume you gain the benefit until otherwise.
Mavis the Maroon |
Mavis is good to go. The only changes to her were the untrained penalty.
Abishek Padiyath |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
RE: Background skills - on Page 4 of Update 1.2:
• Page 38 — In the introduction, after the third sentence, add "You don’t need to meet the prerequisites of the skill feat gained from your background."
So you're all good. I mean, most of the Background Feats use the prereq'd skill, so it certainly makes sense to be Trained in it to see some benefit, but at least you're not forced to. :]
Liranna Vomoyosana |
Liranna should be good to go for 1.3 as well! Didn’t change my build path for her or anything since she was always going to stick with the dex-based rogue.
Playtest Pregen |
Glad to be joining you! Grabbed a pregen to get started. Haven't yet had a chance to view the latest updates.
I am traveling this week so my posting will be limited. Please feel free to bot me. Should be up to full posting on 10/9.
GM Batpony |
It was a coupl days since last encounter, so you can safely assume you are at full health.
Sivrilltri Ilosim |
Ok how do round mechanics operate? Is yellow considered to be alive right now or is he dead from being peppered with arrows? I ask because, if I move two to be adjacent to red will it provoke an attack of opportunity from yellow?
GM Batpony |
Yellow is immediately down on Taleath's turn, so no worries about AoO for now.
But if yellow was up, attack of opportunity reactions only happen if the kobold has the right feat! So it's kinda always a surprise, you never know who has an AoO unless you make the right skill checks.
GM Batpony |
Do you guys wanna do the 1.4 update for heritages? We're at the end of this quest.
Also there's 2 more quest to go! Both quest are similar in terms of new mechanics introduced so it's not necessary to do both, but we can if the party wishes so.
Let me know your thoughts on both.
Playtest Pregen |
I don't think any heritage updates would affect a pregen, though I can switch to an original PC if you'd all prefer.
As for the quests, I vote for bothh. I'd personally like to play as many quests as possible, but will defer to the group.
Taleath Oakbough |
No effective change to Taleath for the heritage, as he took the heritage ancestry feat anyway, and I chose the Weapon Familiarity feat (for the later feat options, honestly) but don't have the coin to do anything about it for now.
Mavis the Maroon |
I will check it out today as well. I”m happy to update Mavis
GM Batpony |
So we’re going to do all the quest, but as a fair warning, my typical comfort zones for PBP games are 4-6 weeks as I’ve noticed interest dwindles quite a bit outside that. I will not hesitate to move the game if the PCs do not react within a fair timeframe (24hours), resulting in possible disadvantages, especially during combat.
Also I’m keen to do higher level games, if anyone in interested and has the capacity to keep up, let me know and I’ll take that part of my planning.
Abishek Padiyath |
I'm going through all my checklists of things to pack, and affairs to get in order - and I've almost forgotten my PbP games!
I'll be away from the 4th to the 12th, and I will be in the bush for five of those days - if I get a cell signal, I might be able to check in, but for the most part, I will be off-grid. I will ensure that Abishek's charsheet is transparent and available for botting purposes, and I apologize to everyone for the somewhat last-minute ball-drop.
