Thanks for making such a great game. Take care of yourself.

thanks. Is there a way to make Molg the default for this game for me?

Thanks for being patient with me as I learn PFS. :)

"Well... ahh... that was rather abrupt."

He looks around at his companions trying to recall what he knows about Gralton.

"It looks like our next move is to travel to Gralton."

sounds good.

Molg shakes his his head to clear the cobwebs. All this movement and flying around kept him transfixed. He barely heard the rest of the letter but knows they need to go to the address on the paper.

Yes, I know of Ulisha by name only but not much more than that. As Eldorn asked it would be good to know more of the Silverhex.

Hey all. Sorry I haven't been posting. I checked earlier in the week and nothing had happened. SO I forgot to check the rest of the days of the week. I'll be better. Sorry.

Perfect thanks.

Three dwarfs. Dwarves Wizard here. Lol.

Well hello there my fellow companions! I honestly didn't expect to get in. Thanks GM Diaz.

If I don't have any skill points in Craft or Profession do I still roll a Day Job check?

What do I do for Day Job Check? I don't understand that part after reading about it.

Myself and other Forever GMs run CotCT, taking turns. Each of us also train up a new GM by being a player and assistant to a new GM.

The "new GM training" will have each Forever GM list modules or adventures they will assist with, the New GMs pick the Forever GM and one of the modules that GM listed to run, as it would help if they both know the content, as the GM might be able to give advice better if they know the module very well.

The new GMs will start their recruitment threads with a recruitment template I'll work on, it'll be limiting in options, but...

This sounds almost exactly how to handle coaching of problem solving teams at my plant. A group of employees will form around a problem. An experienced coach will run the team with a co-coach to train. When that project is complete, the co-coach now becomes a coach of their own team and able to help train a co-coach.

I'm so down with this idea of yours @DM Azure Zero.

I suppose there are common sense "fit" things, like if six characters all show up with Wizards, they look funny at each other as if they wore the same dress to a party. Many folks often have multiple characters available (not always) so that stuff can be worked out.

Cool thanks for the advice. I've played PF1e for the last few years with an in-person group, but never done PFS.

@GM Diaz - Thanks for answers.

Now I feel comfortable creating any kind of PFS character for any of the PFS games here. Before it seemed like a daunting process.

Hi GM Diaz.

This sounds interesting, but I've never created a PFS character nor played in a PFS Game. I do have Hero Lab classic/online so I have all the tools.

Do I just create any character I would like to play? Then post the info like others?

Do I need to see if my character "fits" with the party or again, just create a character I would like to play?

Those two guides you posted links to... I'll read them tonight at home, but your game sounds interesting.

As I can't seem to get into games as a player right now I wouldn't mind playing and GM'ing. I would prefer doing one-off adventures rather than co-GM'ing an Adventure Path only because I haven't GM'd but one time, in the car, on the way to an RPG weekend getaway. And I had players who took advantage of my newbie-ness.

So SURE!! :)

Ok thanks. I thought because I had a mentor that I was in. But that's okay. I'll find another one :)

@mrkrrtft: I hope that your wife and you are both doing well. ER visits are never fun.

Yes things are better. With my wife paralyzed with ALS her diaphragms don't function and she's on a ventilator. Just had some complications that turned in to pneumonia. That's all sorted now. Although she had 6 different types of pneuomonia. ouch!

GM Polyfrequencies wrote:

@mrkrrtft: If you haven't seen it, this is a nice (though out-of-date/incomplete) primer on some of the most effective traits. Another player put together a pretty useful guide on the Fighter that includes a review of handy traits. That might help to narrow down your search. Though the ones that Cuchulainn and Zanbabe mentioned are mostly solid. I would veto Ancestral Weapon because it's tied more specifically to the region of Numeria, and Group Fighter (or Militia as its called in the Dragon Empires Primer) because it's tied to Amanandar. Light Sleeper is tied to the god Hanspur, if you want to follow that deity.

Thanks for the link and advice. I knew to not take anything that was related to social, local, ancestry, region, etc. I'll review the link and see if I want to make any changes. I'm working on having a statblock for you late tonight, and will then work on putting the character in to these forums. Thanks to Dorian and Jasmine I have good instructions on getting that set up.

Sorry for disappearing. My wife went into the hospital and then I had to take care of my six kids and then work and then life. Sheesh. Sorry.

Am I still a part of this game? If so what do I need to do next? I can’t seem to figure it out.

Hi all. So I'm building my 18 yo human male fighter. I've always had a hard time picking Feats and Traits, but today I'm having a hard time deciding traits.

For the campaign feat I'm choosing:

Quote:
Defense of Honor: Grimscar, a half-orc local known for picking fights, was harassing Asina at the Seven Silvers Tavern. You stood up to him, and ended up taking a serious punch from the hulking brute. Your stoic response to the best he could give caused Grimscar to back down; you have a +1 trait bonus on Fortitude saving throws.

Of the 2 remaining feats I always choose Reactionary because of wanting to be higher in the initiative order. I think that makes sense for my character since he's been training to be a guard/warrior "all of his life" <wink> haha

But I'm not sure what to pick for the second trait. Ideas?

Sorry for going MIA. My wife went in to the ER and then admitted to the hospital tuesday evening. Today is the first day I've been able to get to anything. I'll catch up and post this evening.

Welcome to the boards, @mrkrrtft! I can't private message you at the moment, so I'll put the information about the most likely fighter mentor here, which actually fits in well with your proposed story. (Most of the town probably knows him anyway.)

Thank you for the sample as well. That was great! I feel like I would enjoy playing Shadowrun at some point.

Cool thanks. So my next step is to create the character here in my forum profile right?

Well, I was going to apply with a core human fighter myself! However, after reading what Mrkrrft said, I'd like to leave that niche open for them. It's good to have new people in the community!

Dude!! So Cool!! Thanks a bunch.

I’d like to apply. This is the first game on Paizo that I’ve applied for. I’m learning the rules.

I don’t have many details but I would like to play Human fighter. 18 years old. Serves in the local militia/guard. This is his coming of age story where he really becomes a fighter.

I’ve played 1e for the last 5 years, but I am still learning how to play. I’d like to practice the basics with a CRB Fighter.

Here is a post I’ve made in a Shadowrun game on rpol.net which is an example of how I write.

“Mac’s Last Journal Entry”:

Background:
Mac's Last Journal Entry:
Growing up under Oakland wasn't the paradise most tallfolk think it is. They think it's all mining and party time with the dwarves and their beer. Well they live in the fantasy world. Not us dwarves. My life was hard and I had to figure out a way to make it less hard. When I found I was good with weapons the job I had seemed to fall into my hands. But it didn't stay that way.

It was on the street when I had that fight that changed my life. I fought in the pits to earn some money. It seemed that fighting was the only thing I was good at. So I fought. I didn't win them all, but I won those fights that mattered. That afforded me some time to improve my skill. As I got better I hoped to find a way out of the pits and on to the street. I was just leaving a food joint on 10th street in what used to be Chinatown in Oakland. That's when the trolls found me. They thought that because I was short I was an easy mark. Yeah right.

The fight started with the trolls trying to grab me. Being short had its advantages that day. I drew my sword and started running between their legs. I would slash at a knee or the back of a thigh, or any vulnerable body part. It only took a couple of minutes and the four trolls were on the ground moaning in pain. I didn't kill them. I could have. I wanted to, but that wasn't my way. They were just blustering and puffing their feathers.

As I wiped my blade on their clothes I heard, "Not bad dwarf," from behind me. A human in a suit stood in front of me. What was he doing here? A human in this part of Oakland and in a suit no less? "You handled them like a pro and I saw you could kill them but you didn't. Why?"

I shrugged. "It wouldn't have made a difference. They now know not to mess with me. They didn't really do anything, but they won't be doing anything to me ever again even if they do see me."

The man nodded. "I can't say I agree, but I can see you've thought this out. Walk with me?" He said it as a question but it really wasn't.

I pull up beside him and he slows his pace a bit to make it easier on me to walk with him. That *never* happens. As we fall into step with each other he explains himself.

"I'm travelling a lot now and in some less than secure places. I was going to hire a bodyguard from the outfit my company uses, but I think you might just be a better choice."

I accepted and I was his bodyguard for a about a year. I followed him everywhere. I rode next to him. Walked next to him. Slept in a bed just outside his room. I never left his side. He crapped I was there. He screwed I was there. He met with CEOs I was there. Until I wasn't.

I didn't see it coming. Unknown to me he had garnered A LOT of enemies. One in particular <GM: insert enemy here> had it out for him and set him up. They had three crews of toughs waiting for him when he came out of a meeting in San Fran with <previous enemy> and they pounced. I couldn't do anything against the twelve or fifteen toughs that were there. They had mages and shamans. Sammies and riggers. They overwhelmed me because the knew what I could do. They must have tailed us for a long time.

My boss was killed. I was out of a job. I went to other crews, but apparently I was now blackballed and, well, f#$& them. So what... I made it for a year I had my bugout bag ready with some credits. I grabbed my bag that was never far. I had stashed it in bushes outside our hotel. I made my way by foot back to oakland. Crossing the bay bridge was probably the hardest part because there were no places to hide. It was windy and cold. But I made it back to the tunnels.

It's been another year. I'm doing odd jobs. I want something like I had before with my boss. Possibly it's just the stability of knowing who I worked for. I'm working for myself. Now I need to make sure I have money. It's tougher than before I met my boss because I had it good.

But I'm a dwarf. I can do anything.

I want to play very much. My IRL group is playing Emerald Spire, but I can't make those games any more. I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY THIS HERE :)

Ok this makes complete sense. Also I just saw a post about the new printing including the errata so I get it now. I just didn't understand that Paizo would sell out of CRB since Amazon had it. Now I will patiently wait. :) I do have the PDF and on a big ipad pro it's almost like reading the crb.

Thanks again for the explanation :)

Would you be able to explain how I can get a book from Amazon in a few days but it is a month or more from you guys? It doesn’t seem to be making sense. Thanks.

Hi.

I didn't realize I had purchased the Humble Bundle Second edition bundle. So I went to redeem my hardcover core rulebook and was notified that it is backordered. I had expected an email indicating how long but I haven't received it yet.

So, my inquiry.

For Order 36253642, how long do you expect it to take? I noticed on Amazon that I can order the core rulebook second edition for $60 and it would be here in 5-7 days.

If you can't fulfill the order, would you consider giving me an Amazon gift card for $60 and I'll purchase through them and pay the shipping?

Thanks,
Will Shattuck

Hi. Are you still looking for players? I just got the Pathfinder 2e Core Rule Book and want to play.

Hi. I've never played a Play by Post on Paizo and would like to since this is the birthplace of Pathfinder. I've been playing IRL for about 2 years with a group and with the pandemic we started a weekly fri night game so I'm really enjoying getting into this game more.

I would like to play but I've never applied for a game here. What do I need to do? Roll up a full character or just submit name, race, class, backstory?

Thanks, stormraven and The Ghost of War. I've been doing exactly that. Looking at all the recruitment posts, looking at how people respond, and then thinking about how I would respond.

I ended up asking questions in about 4 of them, and that was too much for my brain to even think about.

So now I'm look at them in greater detail and trying to think of what a concept would be. My problem is that I'm still only in the Core Rulebook and it feels like the GMs want classes outside the core even though they say all rulebooks.

It would be cool of someone ran a Newbie friendly game here. Or maybe I just have to GM a newbie friendly game... that would definitely be jumping off into the deep end. :)

I'm going to work on an Unchained Monk. With the stats I rolled it should be fun even though the monk is a MAD character.

Hit Points: 4d10 ⇒ (8, 7, 10, 1) = 26

Would you be willing to take a relative Pathfinder Newbie on this run? I've been playing IRL with a group on and off for two years. We finally have a twice a month game going, but I want to learn more and get better at this game. I'm going to roll dice and see what hits me.
.
.
.
Stats: 5d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 5, 2) - 2 = 21
Stats: 5d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 4, 5) - 2 = 19
Stats: 5d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 5, 6) - 1 = 17
Stats: 5d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 5, 6) - 1 = 22
Stats: 5d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 3, 1) - 1 = 14
Stats: 5d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 4, 1) - 1 = 14

Still Room?

Hi Sun DM,

I'm just getting started with PbP here on the Paizo forums. Your game sounds interesting. Do you have any spots open? I haven't created any characters yet as I wanted to see if you have space and what the current party make up would be.

Thanks.

Welcome mrkrrtft :)

Why Thank You!!

So how did I do on my first attempt at a Zweihander character?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So I saw the post for the game, i liked the Warhammer universe I played in over a year ago (1 time), and I had $50 of Amazon credit and prime so I ordered the core rule book. I'm still going through it to get all the stats and things filled out. I rolled everything following the example character build except that I rolled for both alignments on one roll.

I'll post what I have and am new to the Paizo Forums and very new (12 hours new) to Zweihander.

Roland (no last name yet):

Name: Roland
Age: 31 (Adult)
Social Class: Lowborn
Sex: Male
Ancestry: Human
Profession: Warrior > Dragoon (rolled two warriors and one commoner)
Order/Chaos: Heroism/Martyrdom
Background:

  • Winter / from the cold, something eyes you hungrily
  • Different Colored Eyes
  • Tan Skin
  • Trait: Esoteric Memory (Always succeed at Scrutinize Tests)
  • Drawback: Eunuch
  • Body: frail, 6'1", 193 lbs

  • Combat: 44
  • Brawn: 35
  • Agility: 43
  • Perception: 45
  • Intelligence: 34
  • Willpower: 39
  • Fellowship: 38

All the other items: I'm still reading through character creation in the core rulebook so I don't have everything else ready to go.

Background Story:
I'm still working on this part and fill it out if I am selected. Here is what I have so far.
---------
Roland was sick for the first years of his life. As a result he was always a bit frail, but he grew fast. He ended up being tall, quick, and perceptive. Walking through the fields one day a horse happened upon him. He felt a strange affinity towards it and reached out his hand. To his surprise the horse came over and nuzzled him, then ran off. He was enchanted. He would go back to that field and eventually learned to tame the horse enough that he could ride it. This eventually led him into the service of the Dragoons. (More can be filled out later).

Thank you, Helix, for taking the time to read my first ever Zweihander character and my application for your game.

-mrkrrtft

Cool thanks. I've rolled up a WarHammer FRPG character a year ago and can see how similar the process is.

I'd like to play and I have the core rulebook coming today. Is there still time?

Yeah I finally found that. It didn't make sense to me a while ago.

LOL - yeah on the Avatar.

Hi folks,

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get started with PbP here on the Paizo Forums.

I've read DH's guide and I have a character concept. But I don't understand how I get invited or ask to get invited or apply to a game. I don't really see anything that shows open games.

I've been sifting through the site for about a week and still can't figure it out.

Thanks.
