Hi. I would like to have my players adventure to capture the apocapylse horses (bestiary 6) and then convert them into holy versions. But can't decide what to do about the energy drain that seems to be pretty vital to their power. Any advice on what would be fitting or any other ideas for a holy apocalypse horse? A Genesis horse maybe?

Coming back to pathfinder after a 3 year break. Would like to make a holy Irori PRC monk. Any changes or additions to the game since then that I should know about to add into the mix/take out of The mix? Level 13 25pt, 140k gear.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Some weird mythic rules stuff:

When Guardian path uses Absorb Blow, they get DR/Epic X

This DR stacks with other DR, like an Invuln Rager Barb DR / -

So when an armor has the resonating armor enchantment (mythic stuff)

It says that when using a mythic power, any DR that the character has is increased by 5

Would this mean that his DR EPic and DR - are both increased by 5, and since they stack, that would net a +10?

Professor Qs guide that is linked to in the guides sticky post is coming up alllll messed up for me...anyone else having the same issue?! It takes forever to load, and then the formatting is all jacked and everything is Striken through...

If I throw a one handed sword, is it a ranged attack? Is the sword a ranged weapon for that attack? Curious on what the details are here. (for purposes of Mythic Spellbreaker feat)

Hi guys
Been on about a 10 month break from our Wrath of the Righteous campaign. Am going through with a Stalwart High DR build Barbarian, currently 11Barb 1Ftr 4Mythic(guardian). Just checking to see if there has been any new stuff released in the last year or so that is worth taking a look at picking up? (feats, items, (other class dips?))

Hi Everyone
I have been reading the mass combat rules and haven't found anywhere on how to *build* an army. In downtime too, there seems to be no rules for that. Like, what does it cost to train 500 3rd level fighters for instance. I'm hoping someone can link me or explain to me the proper mechanics for building an army (to fight demons in Wrath of Righteous).

Hello all. We recently decided to redeem Marhevok, this barbarian tribe leader guy, instead of killing him. Since the atonement, it seems he can either become a fighter or a paladin, since he's lawful now, through retraining. He seems to excel at unarmed combat though, so figured some type of brawler. Could anyone give me any advice on how to rebuild him as one of those classes? Wish the Irori PRC would work, but can't have him as a god ;)(I'd have like to just keep him barbarian, but DM says no) Thanks ;)

Hello.

Do these work together like it seems they do? I can't figure out what would actually detect them. Seems invis purge would negate, true seeing yes? But all perception checks to figure out where they are seem to fail? Seems unsure how they'd work together as 'detection' isn't a defined term.

These two together seem to work together to gain the undetectable-ness of the Ninja (but can still be revealed, unlike the ninja).

Yes/no? What the heck is "detected" as a term anyway? Seems to be something basically requiring a perception check.

Is this overcome by a weapon who's total enhancement value is +6? Like +2 and brilliant energy or something. Or does the actual enhancement bonus have to be +6?

Seems you could make yourself a thrice daily wish/miracle artifact (cheesy, but just curious). Requires taking intelligent item and spellcasting 4 times? 18 points needed to for 'double spell level', and then can cast 3 times daily with no components. yes no?

One of the best, if not the best imo, mythic path abilities is Legendary Item. SRD says

SRD wrote:

Legendary Surge: All legendary items have a legendary surge ability, similar to a mythic character's surge ability. It can be used only on specific rolls or checks based on the nature or purpose of the legendary item—see the Legendary Surge sidebar.

The legendary surge ability allows the bearer to add the result of a d6 to the appropriate type of roll or check. A mythic bearer can use her surge die type in place of the d6. If she's bonded to the item, she can increase that die type by one step.

So...d20 if you're 10th teir?

Is mythic guardian feat - shrug it off , necessary you think? Balor chopping my head off would suck and basically be a tpk.

Has this been done yet? Kinda working on it myself, but was just curious. When I search for mythic barbarian I get a lot of results and haven't come across anything yet. Do some of the new mythic abilities make or replace old redundant abilities? Anyway, if there has been discussion on this already, a simple link will do ;) Thanks for all your input, always appreciate it.

It seems these work together.

Quicken true strike etc available to rogue at 10th.

Twice a day...Not too crazy, but can be good for a build that needs a first hit to land to then do some neat stuff.

Maybe a sap master build with shatter defenses (all hits after are at lower ac, due to flat footed) and offensive defense starting with high ac all the time.

Nothing too spectacular, but just thought I'd double check.

I thought I remembered seeing an item like this. Anyone able to tell me where it is if it does indeed exist?

Hi guys.

Just curious if there are any feats, or even spells or magic items that affect any spell like abilities you may have?

Such as:

More casting per day
Increase in range/duration etc (I'm aware of some of the monstrous meta magic SLA feats)
anything else

etc...

Thanks!

Does it seem reasonable to have a 1/6 ninja trick per level increase similar to the 1/6 per level rogue talent increase for human ninja favored class bonus?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

So, the vows section says anyone with a ki pool can take vows, yet in the vows themselves it mentions "1 per 5 monk levels" etc.

Seems like it should say "1 per 5 (character or class) levels"

Anyone have an opinion?

I've been thinking more and more of a ninja13/horizon walker 3. I've never played through with dimensional agility chain though, so I'm not sure if it would be preferable to the shatter defenses chain. Shatter defenses should still be taken.

Ayone have any thoughts or experience with these? Mike must have something to contribute ;)

Dm is suggesting that "melee weapon" means only manufactured weapons, not natural attacks, so deflecting a claw/bite doesn't work. Anyone have a reference we can look at?

It seems like medusas wrath is in the feat tree for scorpion style kinda. If so it might qualify for a bonus feat for master of many styles.

So in this http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderR PG/rules/proficiencyWithGauntletsAndSpikedGauntlets thread, discussion was had as how Unarmed Strike works/doesn't work while wearing a Gauntlet.

Question now: If you use Medusa's Wrath, and you're wearing a Gauntlet, do you get the extra attacks?

Is invisible blade really worth it when you have enforcer and shatter defenses? How would it be better than just full attacking and then just normal vanish after? I suppose it saves Ki, but you probably have a nice amount of Ki by then. Plus, things start to have more methods of detection at this point, and it only gets worse from there.

Maybe a diff trick would be better.

Menacing weapon enhancement:

Quote:

Menacing

Source: Advanced Player's Guide

Aura Moderate illusion; CL 10th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, phantasmal killer; Price +1 bonus.
Description

This ability can only be placed on a melee weapon.

This weapon property helps allies deal with flanked foes. When the wielder is adjacent to a creature that is being flanked by an ally, the flanking bonus on attack rolls for all flanking allies increases by +2. This ability works even if the wielder is not one of the characters flanking the creature.

What if I'm a TWFer and have this on each weapon? +4 bonus?

Hi guys.

I'm having a portrait done professionally for an early xmas present of a former character of mine. Before I have it started though, I want to give the artist a list of the equipment he had...except I can't find his character sheet with that information hah.

Anyway, He was a 3.x druid(18). Totally min/maxed (wildshape cryohydra etc. ended up being way Overpowered and bad for the party (lesson learned)). He was old (stat adjustments), Lawful Evil (we were part of Shade Enclave), and eventually gained the Shade Template.

Anyway, I don't really remember what items he had either, most probably because he didn't really need any to be pretty badass.

Any advice on itemization for a druid(18), normal wealth for 18th level pc, from any of the Paizo stuff would be great, as I haven't played a druid in Pathfinder, and in general, that was years and years ago. Run-on sentence.

Thanks a ton, really!

2 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Any idea how this was determined?

I'd like to break down how they arrived at the cost (approximately) to determine how much it should cost to be added onto a different kind of weapon other than a short sword, or perhaps an equivalent enhancement bonus that it should represent (maybe +2? 3?)

3 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

If a creature with SR walks into an area where silence is already in effect, or someone has say a 'rock of silence' and walks next to a creature with SR, does the creature get an SR check?

Does spell pen feats stack with the bonus from this item?

...exist on what plane?

I can't tell. Could be as many as he decides to spend ninja tricks on, could be one.

If something (say a feat) requires a specific class feature, do I actually have to have gained that particular ability yet? Or is the fact that I'm in a class that has that feature enough?

For instance Dimensional Agility has the Abundant step class feature as a req. Can I start taking the feats before I gain access to abundant step?

The wording sounds weird. I feel like it should just say 'abundant step' as a req, instead of abundant step class feature.

It seems like a robe of eyes that adds on monks robe, is better than a monks robe that adds on robe of eyes. Cost wise anyway. Is this true?

Crippling strike and pressure point from Ninja....would that allow 3str damage per sneak attack?

Slippery mind or Hard to fool...which is better?

How how does ability damage interact with ability penalties? Example would be ninja hidden master and pressure points or crippling strike?

Thanks so much!

I assume that most of the typical TWF Rogue gear is good for Ninja.

Any other suggestions on top of that, would be great.

My main question though is: Which order to get the stuff in?

Is weapon most important? What about armor? Belt of Dex?

Let's say I was to start around level 5, How much should I spend on my weapon? How much should go to other things?

If RogueEidolon wants to weigh in, that'd be great :) (as his guide has been very helpful in this process)

Thanks! :)

Possible?

Even artifacts?

Or at least break them.

Couple of situations.

Let's say, level 5 Hu/Ninja.

1-Sap adept, Weapon Finesse
2-Ninja trick: Imp Unarmed Strike
3-Knockout Artist
4-Ninja trick: Vanish
5-Sap Master

All situations involve being able to get sneak attack off.

Situation Number 1:

Attacking with Unarmed Strike.
Apply: Weapon Finesse, Sap Adept, Sap Master, Knockout Artist
Damage: 1d3 + sneak attack and all above

Situation Number 2:

Attacking with Brass Knuckles.
Apply: Weapon Finesse. (lethal damage, so nothing else applies)
Damage: (same as unarmed strike? just lethal?) + only sneak attack

Situation Number 3:

Attacking with Cestus.

Apply: Weapon Finesse. (the wording on cestus is confusing. you're considered armed for your attacks while wearing, yet if you're proficient, your unarmed attacks can do piercing/bludgeoning...so are you armed or unarmed...or is it a choice? and if you're unarmed...what's your damage?)

Situation Number 4:

Attacking with Brass Knuckles with Merciful encantment.

Apply: Weapon Finesse, Sap Adept, Sap Master. (not knockout artist because not unarmed....right?)
Damage: ?? + sneak + enchantment + Sap Adept +Sap Master

Situation Number 5:

Attacking with Cestus with Merciful enchantment.

Apply: Weapon Finesse, Sap Adept, Sap Master (again....can I be unarmed while using this? And if so, what's the damage?)

As you can see, I'm quite confused. Mainly as to what I can use Improved Unarmed Strike with...if anything...besides Unarmed Strike.

And also..if it's possible to add Knockout Artist to damage if wearing either of those 2 weapons.

....Confused O_O.

Thanks in advance for the help.

It seems that if going for a TWF ninja with scout archetype, and the sap master feats too, with maybe offensive defense...taking a level of monk might be a good idea?

Bonus feat, Saves, unarmed strike, stunning fist, higher dice damage. Ability to get niceness out of monks robe later.

Anyway, I'm level 4 now, about to hit 5, feats I'm thinking of having ultimately are something like this:

Ancestral Relic - Wakazashi given by DM for backstory writeup.

1Human, weapon finesse - TWF
3Sap Adept
5Sap Master
7Leadership (Campaign flavor)
9Imp TWF
11Offensive Defense
13 -> and on, unsure from here.

Dodge/weapon focus and stuff seem like good fillers.

Anyway, this ninja, who's initial intention was to do some revenging based on the backstory, or in general just become a master assassin, is having a slight change in his view on things...1, he's traveling with a paladin who is proving to be pretty effective and insipring 2, keep having trouble apprehending anyone alive for questioning since they keep dying! (hah) I'd like to use unarmed attacks instead of saps since I like the idea better, which is why I'm trying to figure out where to get unarmed strike from. I could just get it from Ninja and then not take monk, though I'd be losing a trick (kinda).

I'm still not great at these fine details and the effect they'll have long term in the life of this character. Have to say though, I'm really liking the class!

As always, any extra advice definitely appreciated. And if you think I should take the level of monk, when? Or if just take imp unarmed, which level trick?

p.p.s.s - Anyone ever do a level of sorc with ninja? Seems to not be too bad of a dip...

(and if anyone has any good suggestions for wands and scrolls just for some itemization as I go up in levels, that'd be great too!)

Oh, and if it makes a difference, early epic levels are a possible eventuality with this character (probably in a year or so)

So, I'm loving the ninja. Still level 3, human, thinking of feats/tricks etc.

So far, have weapon finesse, TWF, and extra Ki. Vanishing trick too.

I'm really liking the pressure points and bleed tricks, as they just can really add to your attacks since they don't trade sneak attack dice, and it seems that pressure points doesn't have a limit? Kinda broken imo. Anyway!! :)

It seems the scout archetype is great for ninja especially with these tricks, and I'm also thinking if spring attack would be worth getting?

I'm not sure about what other feats I would be needing aside from the normal TWF stuff.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated from anyone with more experience than I in general, anyone who has played a ninja further into higher levels, or anyone who just has good ideas. Thanks! :)

Anyone do one of these yet? Specializing in divination.

Quickened true strike shoot anti magic field into X. Sounds fun to me.

No?

Does it exist? I havent' seen it, though it seems that a lot of classes get such a thing (witch = extra hex)

It seems it should, if it doesn't.

Can I use it to throw a particular type of smoke bomb even if I don't have the pre-req trick? It says I pick one I do not know, and can use it for rounds equal to level.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I'm not sure how that works, since the Ninja is an alternate Rogue thing, but the scout gives up the Ucannys. I'd be a scouty ninja, heh. Is there a rule on that?

Hi, trying to figure out an optimized ancestral relic (3.5 BoE) Wakazashi for a Ninja(2). Playing in the inner sea region of Golarion. Paizo stuff only, most likely, but if there's some tasty stuff from 3.5, do let me know, and I'll see if I can talk to Gm about it.

Appreciate your expertise and help! Thanks!

Group of well seasoned players looking for very experienced GM. San jose area

Not sure if there are even any out there, but figured better to look here than on craigslist ;p

I mean, for a character based on sneak attack, the flurry of stars, seems way better, and it's not even a master trick like deadly shuriken!!

Hopefully I'm missing something.
