Hi Everyone
I have been reading the mass combat rules and haven't found anywhere on how to *build* an army. In downtime too, there seems to be no rules for that. Like, what does it cost to train 500 3rd level fighters for instance. I'm hoping someone can link me or explain to me the proper mechanics for building an army (to fight demons in Wrath of Righteous).

Building an army is part of the kingdom building rules. Baring a dm allowance you need to rule a kingdom to build an army. You can build an army by spending a number of build points equal to its consumption cost (unless it specifies a different recruitement cost) during the edict phase of kindgom building.

Super thanks. Could you point me to the exact rule on how to?Its in the Edict Phase:
Step 6—Create Army Units: You may create, expand, equip, or repair army units (see Mass Combat). Now, in Mass combat it states:
Recruiting Armies
If you are a leader of a kingdom, that fact is sufficient for you to recruit armies from your citizens. If you are not the leader of a kingdom, the GM may decide that you need to achieve some sort of in-game accomplishment to earn the respect and renown needed to raise an army.
The only cost associated with army building is equipping it with Ressources

I believe you are required to pay an armies consumption cost in order to recruit it are you not?

This really isn't covered well in Ultimate Campaign but here is what I figure:
The moment you recruit an army it starts burning consumption BP.
Since the phase for paying for consumption has passed there are only a few options.
1) You have a Granary with consumption BP stored up. You can use it to pay for the newly created army.
2) You pay BP directly to pay for that first month of consumption (either x4 or x1 depending on reserve status).
3) You can choose to not pay for the army up front but that will cause a Morale penalty. You could consider this to be an example of forced conscripts.
This is based on the logic that whenever you activate a reserve army it starts burning weekly consumption. This can be anytime during the course of a Kingdom month and not just when you are spending the week doing the turn.
If you do not have the stored consumption then you must pay out of pocket with regular BP or choose not to pay for the army.
