Perfect,

Thanks James, that was what I was hoping, it made sense it was a single attack, just need to confirm.

I have to say, the party is loving this AP. Probably my favorite to run so far.

well done to the writers and team.

Hi James, Thanks for the reply, but I am still not sure what you mean by a FULL ROUND ACTION. I get it is a full round action, but is it a Full Round doing a single attack, or a REAL/NORMAL Full Round doing all attacks.

IE: is it A or B

A: I have a Monk in the party who can flurry of Blows for up to 7 attacks with a Ki point and Boots of Haste.

or

B: sorry Mr. Monk, you get only a single punch at it as a full round action.

In encounter D3. Jandelay Forgotten (CR 18)

it says: Severing Time Anchors: As a full-round action, a PC can
use a magic weapon against the portal to physically damage
the temporal anchors that connect it to this timeline.

The portal has AC 36; on a hit, the PC deals a number
of points of damage equal to 2d6 plus his Dexterity or
Strength modifier (whichever is higher), regardless of
the actual weapon used for the attack. Critical hits and
precision damage do not apply to this damage.

----

Is this considered a SINGLE ATTACK, or does the PC get to make MULTIPLE ATTACKS based on their current BAB and active spells (Haste etc.)?

I read it as a single attack, but it is not super clear.

As I prep the Realm of the Frozen Tears, I see that once the party enters the White Death Diadem, there is a statue with Black Diamond Eyes. If the party takes them, it will summon Inkariax in 1d6 rounds.

Now I am 100% certain my party will take the diamonds - they simply can not pass up on any treasure - they literally loot anything that is not bolted down, and even them they will unbolt it and take it (weight and size restriction applying).

So what happens with Inkariax shows up. Obviously this is a TPK encounter, but also a learning experience for the party.

Any suggestions on how to run this?

My thought was he appears in the form of a libitinarii kyton and demand that the PCs return the diamonds to their rightful place or that Inkariax himself will strike them down. If the party doesn't comply, the first one to back talk, or to take an aggressive tone gets hit with the unnerving gaze, as he tells them to stop their aggression.

If they persist, on the next round he transforms into his normal form, and full attacks the one with the diamonds - in all likelyhood this will kill any one person in the party (except the bloodrager as he has 270HP).

after that round I would again tell them to stop hostilities, and now not only shall they leave the diamonds, but that he would demand a tribute to not kill them all. my though is a tribute of 50,000gp of items and gold. at this point they had 3 chances, if they don't take the hint, he would attempt to wipe the party. - of course that is not what I want to happen, and I would make it clear to the party at this point they are in the presence of a demigogue and know they are way over matched.

any thoughts or other suggestions how to handle this

CHA IS NOT - REPEAT NOT - A DUMP STAT FOR A DWARF. They start with CHA 8.

I was building how a new player who wanted to play a regular character of a certain race would build. It was NOT a min-max build.

Can people stop calling anything below 10 a dump stat - it isn’t. Only when you deliberately drop a stat so you can raise another one is it a dump stat.

Even if it were a 10, tell me once when anyone have played a full scenario when the front liner only required a single heal. Cause after that you are SOL anyway if you roll bad

Also it sounds like you're a player but you're looking through the bestiary and scenarios? That's kinda cheating.

I am both a player and GM (3 Stars). I am looking at the play test from both sides for that reason. Hard for me to run a game as a GM without reading the Bestiary and scenerio

Never dumped Cha - I rolled a character like someone who would as a new player - and a Dwarf starts with 8 in Cha. It is only considered dumping when you deliberately reduce the stat to raise something else.

The point is a single roll stops you from healing through potions for the rest of the day, and in PFS most scenarios take place in a single day. So in PFS a character who hits that 5% chance of a 1 is SOL for the rest of the Scenario.

I agree that as a GM I can add up the points, but without a RP count to start with, I have to count what they have for gear, and figure out their starting point based on what they are wearing then track the RP for each NPC as the fights go on. So thus the question is RP for PC only or for both PC and NPC?

Should also point out, in looking through the playtest scenarios and bestiary i didn't find a single instance of NPCs or creatures being affected by resonance. Does this only affect PCs? is it assumed that an NPC always makes their roll to use a potion or a wand? if i missed resonance in the bestiary where do I find it in the statblock?

I roll a play test character as a Dwarf fighter. Dwarf starts with 8 Charisma. so at level 1 gets a resonance pool of 0.

First combat, gets hit hard a couple times, tried to drink potion - Nat 1. character can no longer be healed without a Cleric casting heal on him.

Ooops no Cleric in party. sorry guys, I am done as a front liner for the day, will stand in the back until we can rest.

In PFS, i can count on one hand the number of times we had a true Healer in the party. Now without one, the game becomes fight - rest for 24 hours, move on, fight - rest for 24 hours - move on. especially at low levels.

Sure at higher levels people say oh you have enough levels that you can use your items, but you can't heal - and at high level games you have to be able to heal yourself in combat. and a single dice roll can ensure you are out of the fight for a full day.

as a single rule, this is enough to not play 2.0.

Thanks Magabeus, you were most helpful, also I would have totally missed the fact that if the party does decide to introduce a flame into room 2, that it will damage the cobras as well.

Appreciate your help.

a few confusing questions about the traps in room 2

Room 2 Trap questions:
1) Does the party have to save every round that they are in the room against inhaling the multi-colored gas - Burnt Othur Fumes. or once they make their first save are they good? If not how does that work if the fail the save in round 1 are they now saving each round at a higher DC and then once they save make another to see if they are poisoned again?

2) it says if the party burns off the gas takes 10 rounds to fill room, so do they get 10 rounds to act before saves start again, or do I assume it is a heavy gas and those on the floor need to save almost immediately again - or light gas and those flying need to save right away again?

3) Eye Beams, how do you get close enough to disable device if they go off at 10ft. do they have to do a reflex save to get close enough, then the disable device to disable?

Thanks Shadow,

this totally make sense now. even though i read this a dozen times, i didn't grasp the "closest to the level pulled" - I read it as the lights appeared in the closest 10 feet not the motes. I get it now....

Thanks again

In room 2, the module talks about a CR10 Poison Gas Trap.

It says Effect is Poison Gas, but doesn't say what the poison Gas does, nor give a reference to where I can find it.

Where can I find a reference to what the effects of this Poison Gas are?

In Room 6 it says the motes move from A to C when the lever in F is pulled. Where does it go from there? whoever wrote this did a terrible job of explaining these traps

Thanks

Is there a way to upload / download combat manager files to and from the ipad version?

If the ninja had a location to hide and had moved there invisibly before the purge was cast, then yes, a normal opposed stealth check would still apply. But he wouldn't be invisible while within range of the purge.

He was hiding along side of a curved wall, not enough to give him cover but was thinking for a ninja that should have been enough. None the less the whole issue didn't make any difference in the scenario, he was last baddie and was in no position to do anything but get one last attacks before being killled

Fromper wrote:
Agree with Trinam. It's a supernatural disappearance that works "as invisibility". I really don't see any other way to read it, or what the GM could have been thinking.

I was GM, 2 reasons I was thinking that way

1- this very thing happened in scenerio I was playing in and it was ruled as it didn't work

2 - the ninja after using Ki to use VT rolled a 19 on stealth along with +17 was higher than any any opposing perception without VT - highest perception was 32 ( I believe) Ninja moved prior to the purge and was hiding in wait, my reason was party would not have found the hiding ninja with their opposed perceptions so why should they simply because he used a feat to allow him to move to the hide location under cover on VT

I have been GMing for less than a year, still learning , I try to be fair and realistic it just didn't seem realistic for purge to work but then I have not been doing this long enough to know every rule

Should point out we were playing a scenerio 3 of 4 players had GMed and played before so they already knew for the most part what as going to happen.

So that was what I was thinking, and apparently I was wrong.

Any word on where bonekeep 1 GMed by Stephen Ross is happening at 1pm today?

Sorry to Stephen and others but with no information on the location and no way to get ahold of anyone we are dropping the game.

We tried to find you guys but randomly walking around didn't achieve anything

Any word on where bonekeep 1 GMed by Stephen Ross is happening at 1pm today?

Where is the warhorn bonekeep 1 game on Saturday afternoon running? First time here so not sure where these games are happening

My son and I are both interested in the 10-11 game as well.

He is playing a lvl 11 Sorcerer, I am playing a lvl 11 Inquisitor

Okay, so say I have an opening on Sat afternoon, I post it on Warhorn, ahead of time, is there a room or location set aside that we can play at, or do i need to find a room once I get there?

Edit, thanks Waltero - guess you responded as I was posting.

do they have a room set aside for such a thing, what is best way to find a game?

So while i got most of what i was looking for, there are a few times like Sat and Sun afternoon that my Son and I don't have games. is there a board or way to find other PFS players and play or GM a game?

in the Lottery information is says

The lottery will not assign you to events that you gave a 0, and it will not assign you to events with conflicting schedules

does the second part mean if I sign up for a regular non-lottery game in a spot that would overlap a lottery game, that the system would ignore my lottery request because of a conflict, or does it only ignore other Lottery Conflicts?

If it does ignore non-lottery, should I be waiting until the lottery concludes before signing up for non-lottery events?

Hello anyone from Paizo, can I please get an answer to this? please don't assume the first timers understand how this works

Can I get an answer before I have to do my lottery picks so I can ensure I enjoy coming to my first Paizocon

when I filter to "Lottery" 8-99 is there, so I have to assume it is a lottery event.

Can anyone confirm that is the case and how you choose the level you want to play in it?

What I mean by this is, if you get drawn are you assigned a random level range you must play in, or do you get to choose?

do you choose at the time you add it to the lottery, and if so what if you are able to play in multiple tiers?

This is my number 1 pick, but if I am randomly stuck at a level that I don't have a character or have to play one I don't want to play, it would affect how I rate this in the lottery.

any insight into how it works?

thanks, so no signup until Friday Noon - is that PST? - Edit -
Disregard looks like the Noon is my time, 10am PST

--

I also see there are only 9 PFS lottery options. does that mean any other Pathfinder game played as a lottery carries no chronicle? do I need to bring a non-pfs character to play those?

it was odd to see the We Be Goblins not showing up as PFS, so wasn't sure.

Kate Baker wrote:
callmedoug, if you're getting two days from my post, then I apologize for not being clearer. The lottery opened over a week prior to that, but the deadline for selections was May 9th. I am sure there will be an email once the schedule and lottery are live, and I'm sure we'll get a few days (I would imagine at least through the weekend) to make our choices.

Ahhh thanks for clarification, I did get the impression that it opened on May 9, and closed on May 11. both my son and I check the site everyday hoping to find some indication that it is opened, but no news breeds anxiety...

So how do I sign up for both my Son and I so we are in the same lottery and play together? I can't find anything other than him transferring his ticket to me, but I don't think that is right and I don't want to risk doing that and then missing the whole window trying to fix it.

I would rather know now how to do this and be ready so when teh "few" hours to sign up are here I can do so.

so a whole 2 days to first know about lottery, then figure out schedule, and get online and select... not a lot of time for someone who may not be available for that day to drop everything and sign up...

Given this is my first Con, and since I signed up, i have not gotten a single email from Paizo about the Con to tell me anything (other than a confirmation of payment), how will I know when and where? apparently from this forum the link was going up this morning, but i can't find it.

for past attendees this might not be a big issue, but for us new folks it seems rather hurried and lacking in communication.

Also, how do i sign up from both myself and my son so we play together? He has a separate Paizo account that we set up for him to buy the Con tickets. How do I make sure we are in the same games

So, is the button live? where will it be located? This is my first time coming to the Con, and I am lost on how this all works and it is only 3 weeks away
