This is oh so very complicated. I can't just show up? I guess I'll try to register, but I'll probably end up sticking to private games.

Fortunately, if you are just a casual gamer, you can ignore 99% of the complexity.

Just go straight to the Quick Start Guide

That, and the other players at the table, should get you through your first several games.

Your GM stars are on a vacation they are at some undisclosed beach house drinking margaritas. Im sure they will return after con season is over.

So, wait, the hotel won't have parking?

Crap. I was told parking was something like $70 for the length of the con... I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that that was at the hotel.

Gotta work this out fast.

I also hope I hear back soon about my hotel arrangements and GenCon badge (neither of which I have yet).

This last-minute volunteer stuff is frantic.

Last year I parked at the airport and took a shuttle in to the convention center it was cheaper then 2 nights parking at the Westin

Your sense of the necromantic is... interestingly timed.

?? why?

I just got back from a CON where this issue popped up twice.

Once with one of the player being concerned with trusting the Judge, another with the judge (my) trusting the players (and maybe being taken advantage of...). So I was re-reading the thread and ... felt that it needed more input from current PFS gamers.

Yeah I had a issue at the same CON were someone was doing fuzzy math. Hiding his die rolls.

I usually try and roll my dice in the open because of all the 20's I Roll even at the Special Saturday Night the Bard put herself in harms way first attack 2 natural 20's then I confirmed both by rolling 19 and 17 thankfully one of the other players looked at her character sheet and said your HP's are lower then they should be she lived to fight on.

Also I feel when players cheat they cheat the other players at the table. Everyone should get a chance to shine and if one person is making sure they go first in every encounter by fudging die rolls then critical hits all the time I feel it lessens experience of all the players around.

To further my statement if you are going to cheat so your PC can just roll over a scenario with out the other PCS help it's extremely disrespectful to the GM who spent time and money to prepare a story for everyone to enjoy.

I would be excited for a Starfinder society to get in on the ground floor of it kicking off is exciting and would gladly help organize it locally.

That being said as someone mention earlier that it isn't in the near future plans we have to be patient.

A GM is a player you just take on a different role. It's not like it's the GM vs the players you are more like the story teller and the inspiration.

Consider it like being the banker at monopoly, someone has to do it so the game can be played and occasionally you have to be the bad guy and repo the other players property.

Maybe we should offer some type of reward to a player who "brings a new gamer" with them - say a companion Boon to the First Time player boon... a "Reward" for a recruiter who get's someone to start a XXX-1 PC.

I was just talking about a bring a friend boon yesterday with a VO

I don't know and I highly doubt it but is there some way on the specials with the different maps could HQ provide them so maybe the GMS can spend more time prepping the other aspects of the scenarios.
I will certainly add that question to our after-action meetings and planning for next year. My initial thoughts are no, at least not with respect to flipmaps and map packs, since those are available for purchase from Paizo both in print and digitally. As far as custom maps go, I am looking into solutions to provide those to our GMs. We will be looking into the requirements needed to make it possible while still complying with Paizo's community use policy.

The flip mats are not the issue the custom maps for the specials can be a bit crazy the other suggestion and I'm not sure how feasible that is but maybe getting a custom map download to the Gen Con GMs for the specials so they can recreat them and prep the maps earlier then we receive the scenarios.

We have to run a lot of times at a blink of a eye and sometimes just have to go with the flow. Sometimes I'm just brain dead after working all day outside but I try and give my players a fun night.

What happen to the OP seems over the top but I know we have some players that have some crazy character concepts too.

My suggestion is to figure out what players you don't enjoy playing with see if your local Pfs chapter uses warhorn and try to find games were you will have fun and not feel annoyed

I just try and make sure everyone has fun, that's what the game is about! There are some people who play for the social aspect but are uncomfortable talking with people or acting in front of people but enjoy sitting ant the table and helping somehow.
