Scarab Sages

Although this sounds more like something that belongs under Advice, I think this is better here cause it's more of a curious topic.

If there's one type of character I like in various stories (whether it be movies or video games) is what I like to call the anti character-the evil, malicious version of the main hero. Where as the hero seeks out to stop law-breakers and bring peace and justice, anti characters seek to created chaos and destruction-at the very least. At most, the anti character can actively stalk the main character to make sure our hero fails; sometimes, the anti character likes to mess with the very psyche of the hero, killing his/her friends and family just for the sake of attempting to break the protagonist. Sometimes they try to kill the hero on sight, but other times they let our hero live, so that everything the anti character does will bring the protagonist closer and closer to their doom.

Now of course, the best case of an anti hero could be an antipaladin that, while looking like the paladin hero, acts immensely different. But even then, the antipaladin's goals against the paladin can vary-either he seeks to have her head to prove his evil ways are superior, or he slaughters the paladin's companions and loved ones just to emotionally torture her.

But what about characters of other classes/races? How can their anti counterparts be different?

This is where, if you want to talk about how an anti character can act, here's the place. Whether it's about your own PC and his/her evil reflection or about anti characters in general.

Here's some humanoid races I found in the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual that I believe have potential for being playable races. Here's my take on them.

Yuan-Ti

The original soldiers for the Serpentfolk during their reign, the Yuan-Ti (said to be translated as "the Warrior") are a race of humanoid snakes that have some similar attributes to their previous masters. However, there are a few differences; one is that the Yuan-Ti have shorter necks, and all possess a hood, similar to a cobra's. They also have much more muscle than serpentfolk, and they rarely use magic. It is unknown how the Yuan-Ti came to be, but now they live in small pockets of the world, trying to discover their place in a world where their masters are on the verge of extinction.

Racial Traits (Yuan-Ti)

+2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: Yuan-Ti are mobile and have sharp instincts, but can be easily agitated.
Size: Medium
Base Speed: 30 ft
Languages: Start with Common and Draconic. Yuan-Ti with high Intelligence scores can select the following as bonus languages: Abyssal, Giant, Goblin, Ignan, and Undercommon.
Yuan-Ti are Humanoids with the Reptilian subtype.
Low-Light Vision
Intimidating (+2 on Intimidate checks)
Ancient Foe (+2 dodge bonus to AC & +2 on Combat Maneuver checks to grapple when battling creatures of the Humanoid (dwarf) type)
Weapon Familiarity (all Yuan-Ti are proficient with scimitars and shortbows (including composite shortbows))

Dragonspawn

Now considered to be extinct by many scholars, the vaguely humanoid beings known as dragonspawn came to be of existence thanks to the Rune Lords. Knowing that many of the giants that were enslaved to them were too stupid and too big to do some tasks, so they took in humans (both willingly and unwillingly) and used certain spells-in addition to the flesh of dragons-to change the humans' soft skin into rigid scales, their flat faces into dragon-like mouths, and increased strength. Thus the dragonspawn was born-foot soldiers to the Rune Lords who were forced to do their bidding. When the Rune Lords disappeared, the dragonspawn quickly retreated to parts unknown, knowing that they would never fit into their home. Now they are a rare race, and prefer to stay that way-until their masters return and take their homes back...

[b]Racial Traits{/b}

+2 Strength, -2 Dexterity, -4 Intelligence, +2 Charisma: Dragonspawn are mighty and persuasive, but are slow and dim-witted.
Size: Medium
Base Speed: 30 ft
Languages: Start with Draconic only. Dragonspawn with high Intelligence can select the following languages: Celestial, Common, Giant, and Undercommon.
Dragonspawn are Humanoids with the dragonspawn subtype.
Darkvision 60ft
Illusion Resistance (+2 on save throws against illusion spells/effects)
Dragon-Scaled (pick one type of dragon from the following; once chosen it cannot be changed. Player gains a resistance of 5 when selecting the following dragons; Black or Green-Acid resistance 5; Blue-Electicity resistance 5; Red-Fire resistance 5; White-Cold resistance 5)
Natural Armor (+1 natural to AC)
Hatred (+1 on attack rolls against humanoids of the dwarf and human subtypes)

Critic is highly recommended.

Scarab Sages

I'm making some monsters based off of the original Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual (the monsters that aren't in Pathfinder) and here's what I've come up with so far:

-Beholder (CE Medium [male]/Large [female] aberration) [worshipers of Rovagug and the Old Gods; tyrants and slave masters]
-Fomorian (CE Huge fey) [
-Yuan-Ti (NE Medium humanoid (reptilian)) [similar to serpentfolk, only have shorter necks, cobra frills, and immense muscular bodies; new Playable Race; guardians/soldiers of the serpentfolk empire]
-Dragonspawn (CN Medium humanoid (dragonspawn)) [reptilian humanoids with dragon-like attributes; were created by the Rune Lords as foot soldiers; new Playable Race]

I'm gonna make their stats soon. But any other ideas that you guys want me to make? I'm open to suggestions.

Scarab Sages

Hey there. I was wondering on something...

I like the idea of wizards and alchemists as classes, but would it be smart to multiclass them together? The reason why I ask is because

1) They're spellcasting classes

2) They rely on high Intelligence scores

My character that I'm suggesting this for is Vyranos himself.

Scarab Sages

Here's some ideas I'm coming together for my campaigns. Feedback is needed.

Ragoren (aka, the Immortal Giant) Domains: Chaos, Destruction, Earth, Evil, and War. Alignment: Chaotic Evil. Portfolio: Black Ogre-like, with red flaming eyes; God of enslavement, giants, and devastation. In the Kodar Mountains, the orcs and ogres tell of an all-mighty ogre-like god with the strength to shatter continents. His name, Ragoren, comes from the Giant word rago, "king", and ren, "earth/world"; his name literally translates in Giant to "king of earth/king of the world". The evil giants, like ogres, trolls, and fire giants, worship him like a war hero, praying that he will return to flatten the smaller races; orcs also worship him as a symbol of power and intimidation. Good giants, however, view him as a curse, or (to frost, rune, and taiga giants) as a hoax. In a climatic battle between him and Vearnikar (see below), he was outcast to the realm of the Old Gods. His favored weapon is the great sword.

Taevina (aka, Shelyn's Advisor) Domains: Air, Community, Good, Knowledge, and Nobility. Alignment: Neutral Good. Portfolio: phoenix-like goddess, golden colored; Goddess of information, messages, and communication. To some of the churches of Shelyn, the clerics say that she has a companion, named Taevina (Celestial for "the messenger"), who flies throughout the afterlife, and to other gods, to send messages and receive information. Her favored weapon is the short bow.

Vearnikar (aka, the Holy Dragon) Domains: Animal, Fire, Good, Law, and Rune. Alignment: Lawful Good. Portfolio: snow-white dragon w/ humanoid-like posture; God of life, trust, and valor. One of the least known of all gods (besides the Peacock Deity), Vearnikar (a combination of Celestial and Draconic; translates as "the savior" and "the hero") was said to be the offspring of a gold dragon and a silver dragon; in life, he traveled across all of Golarion, smiting the evil and saving the innocent. However, he was slain when banishing the evil warlord god Ragoren; Aroden, seeing on how powerful the spirit of this dragon, made the dragon into a humanoid-like god. Thus, Vearnikar was the last creature to be turned into a god before Aroden's death. His favored weapon is the dragon's scythe (see below).

I also have a new weapon.

Name: Dragon's Scythe
Description: A pick with three spikes sticking out of one side.
Cost: 35 gp
Dmg (S): 1d6
Dmg (M): 1d8
Type: One-handed Exotic Weapon
Critical: x3
Weight: 15 lbs (7 for Small characters)
Dmg Type: Slashing

What do you think?

Male Half-Elf Wizard (Evoker) 1

Everyone who has a character and showed it to me in the Recruitment thread submit the character here.

Scarab Sages

Deep within the forests of Isger, an army is preparing for a full invasion-and it's not just the hobgoblins and goblinoids that want Isger to themselves. Find the source of the increasing army, and disband it before it's too late!

(Note: rules are similar to my original campaign, "The Giant's Might")

Scarab Sages

Hello. I want to make a few fan-made classes/archetypes of my own, but I am...not really sure on how to do that. Can anyone help?

Here's the class I'm making:

-Warlord/Warmonger: This is somewhat like a combination of the bard, the barbarian, and the monk. They wear light and medium armor, and are good fighters, but there best ability is the ability to 'empower' allies and weaken foes with mystical auras.

Here's the archetype I'm making:
-Tinker (based off of a class in World of Warcraft lore): This is an Alchemist archetype that makes the alchemist give up alchemy for machines. They still use bombs, but are used and made differently.

Scarab Sages

Basically I am looking for any campaigns on the site that are accepting a tengu character with this samurai archetype or a Ranger?

Scarab Sages

This is basically advice for the following for a tengu fighter:

-gear (including weapons and armor)
-feats
-skill ranks (aka where to put skill ranks in where)

I already have a theme for him; he's like Inuyasha-solitary, quiet, and a bit short-tempered.

Scarab Sages

Although I am running a PbP campaign of my own, I really want to join a PbP in order to get more experience. Is there anyone who would allow a male Nagaji paladin 1 of either Tsukiyo or Iomedae?

Scarab Sages

I've looked throughout the Recruitment thread, but I can't find any PbP Campaign that allows nagaji that either isn't full or does not have a nagaji paladin signed up (cause that's what I want to be). Help please!

Scarab Sages

I had the idea for a Nagaji Paladin for some time, but I've decided to make one know. However, I'm not entirely familiar with the class. Any suggestions for my character's statistics/weapons/armor/spells/skills/feats?

Scarab Sages

Basically, what I'm asking are tips and advice for setting up a huge campaign. In addition to my campaign, "The Giant's Might", here's what I'm planning:

-"Fall of the Dragon Empires": This is where a major antagonist (a female Chelixian Abyssal sorcerer) that I have created murders the Dragon Emperor, and the entire continent of Tian Xia is starting to become enslaved. She is starting to forge her own army to make an assault on the Inner Sea region-and only the selected heroes can stop her.

-"Corruption of Absalom": The same antagonist has hired a hobgoblin warlord to take full control of Absalom in order to prepare the trade routes between Absalom and Tian Xia for use of the sorceress's new Tian Xian warships. The heroes of this campaign must prevent the warships from entering the Inner Sea region by slaying the warlord.

All this will lead to the final campaign; "The War of Golarion".

In this campaign, all of the previous characters that played in the previous three campaigns (as well as new ones) will enter a war-torn Varisia, where they will battle against numerous creatures. All leading this is the Chelixian sorceress.

Scarab Sages

Here's a wyvern character I'm making for my campaign. She is supposed to be this half dragon, half goddess type of creature-but unlike most wyverns, she is understanding and has a caring heart.

ETHERITAE, Dragon of the Moon (CR 8)
Giant half-celestial wyvern
CG Huge outsider (native)
Init +6; Senses darkvision 60ft, low-light vision, scent; Perception +20
DEFENSE
AC 23, touch 10, flat-footed 21 (+2 Dex, +13 natural, -2 size)
hp 128 (9 HD; 7d12+55)
Fort +12, Ref +7, Will +9; +4 against poison
DR 5/magic; Immune sleep, paralysis, disease; Resist acid 10, cold 10, electricity 10; SR 20
OFFENSE
Speed 20ft, fly 60ft (poor)
Melee sting +12 (1d8+7 plus poison), bite +12 (2d8+7 plus grab), 2 wings +7 (1d8+3)
Space 15ft, Reach 15ft
Special Attacks rake (2 talons +12, 1d8+7), smite evil 1/day (+1 attack, +15 damage) [I may have screwed up this part; not really familiar with this ability]
Spell-Like Abilities (CL 9th)
At will-detect evil, light
3/day-cure light wounds, protection from evil
1/day-aid, bless, cure moderate wounds, neutralize poison
STATISTICS
Str 25, Dex 14, Con 24, Int 11, Wis 14, Cha 13

Feats Flyby Attack, Improved Initiative, Iron Will, Skill Focus (Perception)
Skills Fly +2, Perception +20, Sense Motive +14, Stealth +6
Languages Common, Draconic

Again, there may be parts that I screwed up, but this is my first time creating a half-celestial creature. Hope you like it!

Scarab Sages

I'm trying to figure out how to put in the Leveling system in my campaign. I'm doing the basic XP give-away (ie, you gained 50 XP each for slaying the goblin!), but what kind of Leveling system (besides the one in the Core Rulebook; those XP levels are too high for me) would be good for me?

Scarab Sages

I'm looking for a site (or guide, or whatever) that would give me translations from Common to other languages (I'm looking for Orc). I'm asking this because I'm gonna make a war chant in Orc.

Scarab Sages

Here's a Template I've been making for a few days. It may not be perfect, so any suggestions will be accepted. However, this is my first Template I'm posting, so please don't be rude.

Name: Corrupted Humanoid Template
This lizardfolk has a strange and sinister appearance, match with a malicious temper.

Prerequisites: Creature must be either a Humanoid or a Monstrous Humanoid.

Alignment: Always CE (Chaotic Evil)
Resistance: If the creature has HD of 5 or less, it gains acid resistance 5; if its HD is greater than 5, it gains acid resistance 10 instead.
Senses: The creature gains darkvision 60 ft; if the creature already has darkvision, it is increased by 30 ft.
Racial Stats: +2 Dex, -4 Int, +2 Wis, -2 Cha
AC: Gains +1 natural armor
Racial Modifiers: +2 to Intimidate & Perception, and Intimidate and Perception are always class skills to a Corrupted Humanoid.
Special Abilities:
-Fearless: If the creature has HD of 5 or less, is gains a +4 racial bonus to saves against fear effects; if it has HD of more than 5, it is immune to fear effects.
-Spell Rager: When a Corrupted Humanoid takes damage from a spell (both divine and arcane), and if it has HD of 5 or less, it gains a +1 morale bonus to attack & damage rolls for a number of rounds equal to 1d4+the spell's level; if the creature has HD of more than 5, it gains a +2 morale bonus to attack & damage rolls for a number of rounds equal to 1d6+the spell's level.

Again, this may not be perfect, so if you have suggestions to make it better, let me know. Thank you

Male Half-Elf Wizard (Evoker) 1

Here is where any questions can be asked before we begin play.

Scarab Sages

Ok, for my campaign, I need to ask this question:

I'm having a LOT of creatures (mainly humanoids) with racial hit die that also have classes. How exactly does that work? Because I've read the rules of this over and over and I still don't fully understand.

Scarab Sages

Male Half-Elf Wizard (Evoker) 1

Post your character's stats & info here, & when we get 5 players, we will begin.

Scarab Sages

Ya this is another campaign I'm doing. It's similar in rules to "Roar of Rovagug", but it has a few different rules.

Scarab Sages

My campaign, "Roar of Rovagug", is still under construction simply because I just don't know which path I want to take. Therefore, I think that I need some help-from a GM who knows the fundamentals of a decent (if not good) campaign. Any GMs who want to help, just simply PM me.

Thank you

Scarab Sages

I'm looking for any PbP Campaigns for my Goblin character I am creating. He will be a Beast Rider (Cavalier) with a boar mount to start. I'll post the character's bio when I get to my computer. Any advice would be great.

Scarab Sages

Male Half-Elf Wizard (Evoker) 1

Please post your character's stats here. Once I get up to 5 players, I'll start the gameplay

Scarab Sages

I know it sounds so stupid, but I had to ask. I can't figure out how to get a player's character to my campaign. Can anyone help?

BTW, my campaign is "Roar of Rovagag"

Scarab Sages

Here's the other, more "simpler" campaign I was talking about. This one doesn't have a website yet but that will change. Anyways:

SYNOPSIS: A crazed half-elf has had a vision of her god Rovagag-to unleash him and raze the world into a new order of darkness. She has recruited various creatures from far and wide to follow her. You must stop her before the Destroyer is released!

Scarab Sages

Hello. Are you ready to enter a land where magic roams wild, the blood of genies run through people, and where the wilds can control? Then join Ruins of Decay today!

Here, you will travel to a recently discovered area known by the locals as Ju'Tovvar-a region with three continents Cerosina (ruled by humans and genie-descendents), Saurizk (ruled by reptilian humanoids, hobgoblins, and infrits), and Burmokswa (ruled by giants and gnolls).

PLAYABLE RACES:

-All 7 Core Races
-Catfolk, Oreads, Undines, Sylphs, and Suli

Scarab Sages

Hello. I have recently created a Pathfinder Campaign website,

Right here.

I need some help though. I'd never really created a Campaign, but I really want to. So, here's my questions:

1) How do I get players to the site?
2) What would be some interesting ideas for the Campaign?

Scarab Sages

Hey there. I want to make an Alchemist character, and I read that, story-wise, Gnomes are the best for Alchemists. But I've never played an Alchemist. Can someone help me with the creation?

Scarab Sages

Hey there. I've just gotten the Advanced Player's Guide, and two classes struck me with interest: the Oracle and the Summoner. But what makes a good Oracle/Summoner?

Scarab Sages

You guys know the Foo Dog and Foo Lion in the Bestiary 3, right? Well, I want to make my own Foo Creatures (so far, I'm thinking on a Foo Cobra), and, while the book has a technique to tell you how to make one, there's one problem...

I've never made my own Creature before.

Scarab Sages

Along with my Goblin character, I want to make an Aasimar character as well. Most people assume that they're good for Clerics, Oracles, and/or Paladins. But I was thinking something a little different- an Aasimar Monk. Would it be a good idea?

Scarab Sages

Well, it turns out that after my first time playing Pathfinder, I realized that I played my wizard character without a Familiar. So I'm trying to pick one so that this won't happen again...but I don't know which Familiar is the best for me. Can anyone help me?

Scarab Sages

Here's some thoughts on what could be the next creatures labeled as Megafauna:

-Therocephalian: A mammal-like reptile that looks like a combination of a Komodo Dragon and a dog. Although the size of a coyote it has a poisonous bite as strong as a large snake.

-Dunkleosteous: This immense, 35 foot long fish has an armored head and teeth-like bony plates that can crunch through the armor of large sea turtles and easily kill larger prey like small whales.

-Sea Scorpion (Eurypterid): While not truly scorpions, these aquatic creatures range in size from the 3-foot long Megalograptus to the 11-foot long Pterygotus. No matter what size, though, sea scorpions are bold predators.

-Gorgonops: This rhino-sized predator looks like a reptilian wolf. It has 4-inch saber fangs used to bring down larger prey.

What do you guys think?

Scarab Sages

In case some of you guys don't know, I'm planning on being a future GM. So after reading the campaign setting "Dragon Empire Gazetteer" I decided to make an Asian themed campaign. Here's what it has:

-Ju-Tovaar, a new continent so large that it ranges from the Equator to the Northern Ice Caps that is filled with familiar and new creatures.
-The playable races (other than the seven core races): the sociable catfolk, the spindly-legged grippli, the sneaky tengu, the bold kobolds, the crafty ratfolk, the persecuted tieflings, and the passionate sulis.
-A range of habitats with different creatures, from the Imperial dragons and giants of the Northern mountains, to the bugbears and death worms of the Vitarve Plains, to the serpentfolk and boggards of the Azurni Jungles.
-Several new factions including the peaceful Order of the Felisarita, the brave Curit-Torto-Worju, and the violent Goblin Hunters League.

What do you guys think so far? It's all that I have so far, and I'm working on the continent's look and encounters

Scarab Sages

I have an idea for a race based off of the cat-girls in anime and manga- they're called Anthros. [url=http://www.pathfinderdb.com/character-options/races/1556-anthro-human-catfolk-hybrid]Anthro[\url] here's the link for it.

Scarab Sages

I know that I already have a character, but I'm thinking about another character-a Goblin. Here's what I got for the characteristics:

-He's a well-mannered Goblin-that is, he doesn't attack gnomes or dwarves, gnaw off rats or birds, or all of the things that Goblins would typically do. In fact, he was raised to call Goblins who do this stuff "stupid Goblins".
-He was raised by a human mother after she found him alone in the woods (it's unknown if his real family abandoned him or forgot him). Either way, he's (somewhat) fluent in Common.

Here's what I need:

-Favored Class
-Favored Skills

Any ideas?

Scarab Sages

Well, tomorrow, I'm gonna play Pathfinder for the first time...and I'm nervous. I feel like I'm gonna make a big mistake, and look like an idiot...
Any advice on what to do to avoid making this mistake?

Scarab Sages

I have a question/idea: Could it be possible that I use 3 sets of 5 races (for a total of 15 races)? The reason why I'm asking is because...I want flexibility in choices for character creation. I would downplay the stats of some of the more "powerful" choices, so that everyone's equal.

Scarab Sages

Here's an idea for a campaign that I call "Nature's Knights" (I can change it to something else if you guys find a name that's better). This is basically what the campaign is:

In an alternate world, a human cult called "the Oppressors" have done one of the most savage things possible-they have slain the Nature God Erastil in the name of their "natural goal" to conquer the world and all that live in it. Now several races who are not only enraged by the death of their God, but also see the consequences of destroying nature, have left the shadows of isolation and now join those who disagree with the Oppressors.

RACES: Humans, Elves, Gnomes, Gripplis, Armaka (armadillo-folk), Dromaeon (velociratpor-folk), Momahk (tapir-folk), and Florisa (dryad-like people)

This is all I have down. It may not be enough, but remember, I'm still working on it.

Scarab Sages

Basically, I need help making my own campaign. I already have ideas for the races, but I need some help creating the world that the races live in. Any ideas?

Scarab Sages

Here's some ideas for hybrid races.

Human+Merfolk

Human+Catfolk

Human+Dwarf

Dwarf+Elf

Gnome+Halfling

How do you guys think they will work?

Scarab Sages

The name speaks for itself-I'm trying to find anyone who plays Pathfinder in this area.
