Backstory:

Debbie Cleaver is a stay at home mother of three. Her loving husband, Bill of seventeen years has gifted her with three wonderful children. The Oldest Lilah, the middle child Bill Jr. And the youngest Mary Beth. They have a house in the suburbs with a mostly built fence and dog named Chuck. Debbie's life might have its moments of modern chaos, but its for the most part controlled and happy. But Debbie has a wee bit of a past.

When she hit puberty, her abilities to grow in size and strength surfaced. An already tumultuous time in a young persons life would prove even more vexing to her. Raised primarily by her hapless controlling single father, Debbie grew up resenting her distant disapproving mother and was further distressed to learn that she was related to the Greek figure Antaeus, who reportedly battled the legendary Hercules. Seeing as this "curse" was also a gift from her mothers side, her teenage angst knew no bounds. She had little direction and no responsibility, so her powers became a dirty secret she'd flaunt when stressed. This resulted in her having a couple run ins with the law even a member of the JLA, who frowned upon her destruction of public property and other petty crimes. This moment inspired her to appreciate her abilities for the gifts they were.

She went to school for a degree in languages, which she had always had a fondness for. Eventually dreaming to work in an embassy in some exotic beautiful country. But the surprise of her first child spurned her and her boyfriend to marry and for her to juggle schooling for a few years before dropping out, two credits short.

Three children and a mortgage later, Deborah's life has seemingly found its chaotic stride and her powers only manifesting in occasional exasperated outbursts. But a longing has recently formed in the back of her mind; a desire to be more than just a mom and address the fear of wasting her potential of her abilities like she did with her college career. He feels a tug to aid others and do good because it's the right thing to do but even more, to resolve her own doubts and fears(and add a little excitement to her life). She has been recently sneaking out at night on some fake errand to sloppily stop criminals she happens upon by using a fraction of her power.

Her more negative personality traits:
She is one for control and propriety. She in some small way, is trying to make up for her sordid teenage past and ensure her children don't make the same mistakes, regardless of whether they possess powers. Debbie becomes selfish, neurotic, controlling and fiery when she does not get her way, but is also often in a hurry for something or else and is usually under a small amount of stress. Debbie's most contributing personality trait is that she is extremely self-appreciating. She centers on her own opinion as though it is the only existent one at all. Debbie can also have a tendency to be incredibly condescending towards people she doesn't like.

Positives of her personality:
She has a slightly goofy sense of humor but is terrible at jokes so she often takes a backseat to the more humorous people around here. She is often prepared and willing to take the initiative or lead in situations. She cares deeply for her friends and family, often willing to sacrifice her well being for their benefit.
She is the most active member of her family and organizes many family and school events. She has a solid sense of right and wrong and wants to use her powers to help others as a sense of global responsibility has surfaced. She overall is a solid team player and will follow someone else's initiative when in unfamiliar territory. Smart, amiable, dependable and vicious to her enemies.

Random facts:
She has a fascination with other cultures, hates ska music, being late & most technology, has a fear of clowns & flying, a love for pasta, women's kickboxing & trashy romanwomen'sls and has a secret crush on David Beckham.

Reworked the stats a smidge.

I figured cheating would be more rare than that. Like in extreme circumstances she could pull it off but I don't see her walking around all the time with gravel in her shoes.

Could be a limitation, or an uncontrolled transformation drawback.

Kind of depends what "standing on the ground" means. Does it work on other planets, does it work in space? Can you cheat and put dirt in your boots?

Edit: Echos Myron's idea is a pretty good one.

Yes it would work on other planets, no it would not work in space, yes she could cheat. If she used extra effort with the dirt idea. The concept is that the character is an ancestor of the half giant Antaeus, a famous foe of Hercules and son of Gaea . He was near invincible and vey powerful but only when he had a connection to the earth. Hercules killed and defeated him by tying him to a tree limb, hanging above the ground.

Grand Lodge

If I go legacy, i was thinking it would be Swamp Thing. A new Guardian of the Green.

If original character, then it would be a growth character based off of the myth of Antaeus.

Hopefully these could work for you! I'm glad you chose 2nd E. I just can't jump on that 3rd E train after so many games in my comfort zone.

Grand Lodge

Character incoming! I'm almost done.

Grand Lodge

Interested. I have a favorite 5e dwarf character I'd like to offer up.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 1) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 4) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 1) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1) = 16
5d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 6, 2) = 17
5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 1, 3) = 13

Well that's awesome. Let's try gold.

3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1) = 7

Grand Lodge

Background skills are great. They are standard now in all my games.

Dotting. Played both editions and Dmed 2nd. Sounds fun!

Grand Lodge

Dotting. I'm so pumped that recruitment opened up! This game looks so exciting. I saw that you weren't fond of gunslingers but is the Bolt Ace archetype acceptable?
I've read the players guide and love the winter setting. Thinking Traditionalist part-time witchhunter native of Heldren with an obsession of meat, a distaste for magic and a fondness for woodcrafting and the simple life in general.

Grand Lodge

This seems like an amazing concept.

stat: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2) = 8
stat: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4) = 15
stat: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4) = 13
stat: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1) = 7
stat: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) = 14
stat: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1) = 10

Hmm not as bad as it could have been but I'll have to mull it over.

Grand Lodge

Could I eventually get a limited A.I. familiar if I take improved familiar as a Witch, wizard, etc? Oni Mask-could be reflavored since they are wearable Or maybe the Figment familiar archetype. I only ask because it's strictly flavor rather than power related.

It's fine by me. Though I'd like to hear the concept just to hear the concept. It sounds like you have something interesting in mind.

Sure and I hope you find it interesting, either way I'm open to changing and reinterpreting it to fit your devastated world.

The Peacock Spirit is a figure of mystery and rumor in most academic circles but their legend spans back to the empire of Thassilon. Supposedly several orders and cults still exist in modern day Golarion but with the rise of Karzoug, I thought it would be interesting if a demagogue related to this dead god was brought to the forefront of this apocalyptic conflict. The character would either be or believe they are, the reborn embodiment of the peacock spirit in mortal form , exemplifying the mind, body and spirit. Though LE in alignment they would seek to spring forth from the ashes and become a dominant power once more, playing from behind the scenes pulling strings. Whether the ultimate goal is to usurp Karzoug or ally with him has yet to be determined.

I would come up with Tennants and ideologies grounded in theology according to that era in Golarion but mix in concepts from Yezidic, Hindu, and Abrahamic mythology, with a little bit of Mad Max Fury Road deification. All of those sources have creative chaotic aspects to them which fits this time of change and destruction, especially with all these demigod status entities running around. The character will be on a slow crusade to collect followers, artifacts and information. After all, the word Apocalypse comes from Greek roots meaning "to uncover".

I by no means intend on trying to dominate the course of the game or co-opt other players, I just enjoy that there's so much room to play with this deity, especially in such an interesting setting. Let me know if this is something you could get down with!

Grand Lodge

I know that occult adventures are acceptable resources but I was curious if cult master archetype mesmerist was okay to take? Would you like to hear the concept before deciding?

Grand Lodge

All hail, Brigh. May her clockwork benevolence perfect us all

Grand Lodge

I definitely understand your wariness. limiting the feat is understandable and some cases because I can see someone going crazy with it, but as it stands in its most recent incarnation makes it a shade away from useless so I appreciate your ruling. Character is forthcoming.

Grand Lodge

Oh that's great! Thank you very much for giving me a chancetwo2 posts my character a little to fit your specifications and then post them. I did have a quick question though . Are you okay with me taking the Pre-errata version of the feat "Believers Boon"?

Grand Lodge

Dang! And this looks really interesting too. I've been looking for in a occult game for a while to play one of the new occult classes. I have a John Constantine esque character just waiting to be played in something like this.

Grand Lodge

@ The Faceless GM
Apologies. I made the mistake of reffering to it as "Benevolent" rather than its actual name "Believer's Boon".

Grand Lodge

How do you feel about using Benevolent Boon pre-errata? I wanted a trickery domain ability for my occultist build but I realized that It's gone from nifty to a waste of a feat. Thoughts?

Grand Lodge

A fair and balanced ruling. Thank you for taking the time to examine the issue and answer my questions. My CMB was all that was needed to calculate on the crunch for my character.

Grand Lodge

A.The penalties associated with trying to Grapple while already grappling? Whw don't count as being grappled when they use their hair.

B. Sorry. It takes a standard to maintain unless you have greater Grapple which changes it to a move action. But there are no limits to how many times you can initiate different grapples as far as I've read, especially if you don't count as grappled and can initiate as a free action every time you hit via whw. So you can theoretically Grapple as many dudes as you hit then you have to let go by your turn, unless you spend actions trying to keep a max of two tied up.

C. In most cases the bonuses only apply to trip, bull rush, etc when you're weilding a weapon with that feature. But according to Jason Buhlman, the DM can make a personal judgment if it seems reasonable.

Grand Lodge

Two DM dependent questions:
Can white haired Grapple multiple opponents? Not maintain on her next turn but initiate and hold until then AND do weapon/magic/feat bonuses add to cmb Grapple when using the hair?

Grand Lodge

Same here. Extra time is always appreciated.

Grand Lodge

I was considering a mounted Barb who worshiped Brigh and machines in general.

Grand Lodge

Let's rock!

To what are you referring right here?

Character advancement? You mentioned that the shambling Mound would have an inability to cast spells as a Druid and I assumed that was due to its low wisdom. While he would be 7th level equivalent, that would leave ten character levels to add on. As per the character advancement rules, characters gain a single ability score point starting at fourth level and at every level there after. That would give him a wisdom of twelve. Adding the effects of magic items he could benefit from an even higher score and allowing him plenty of spell casting.

Grand Lodge

@ Faceless GM

That's totally fair. As a character, I figured it would serve a role in the group similar to Navi(Zelda) but with actual goals and personality. The concept of the fey creatures lost in a world of darkness, trying to find purpose, is interesting to me.

But I can absolute understand if you want to go more traditional. Whatever character I submit will hopefully have a lengthy and rich backstory broken up into vital scenes in the characters life, including before and after the fall of Golarion.

Grand Lodge

@ Faceless GM

Edit Specifically the variant "Greensward" Shambling Mound with the "Gommunion with the green". This coupled with Druid would emulate a Swamp Thing style character.

Barring that, I'd also love to submit Lyrakien character.Let me know your thoughts!

@ GM Miskatonic So I love the Half-Giant race. The detail is great and the mothers gift options are super nifty, but I'm conflicted. My build leans more toward dex based and I've dumped strength (as much as character creation guidelines allow) and those two +2 for humans is looking might sweet. My original draw towards half giant was the aspect of Powerful Build that allowed me to act as a size cat larger for maneuvers. Thoughts?
