Not having much luck...

"Tracy! To me!" Virgil bellows as he starts to worry.

I don't know how much leeway I have with a companion. Can I direct her to attack a square? Oh, and was that Strength damage?"

Is Virgil flatfooted due to darkness? If so that second one hits. Is that strength damage? If it is, subtract 1 off my hit and 2 off my damage. I probably forgot something for fighting in the dark too. I think I missed anyway.

The real Virgil is back everybody.

Virgil waves the Greatsword away. "Much too big. Elathras gets stuck in more anyway." The ranger eyes his Falchion. "Just the right amount of choppy. Mmm, I'll take those arrows though."

He pats Elathras on the shoulder. "You alright? Want me to take the next couple on?"

Finally, Virgil takes a moment to feed Tracy some treats, cooing soft praises to the bird.

I'll take that +1 longsword for DR/Magic stuff, but I'm loving this Falchion personally. Always crits when we need it.

18/54 hp, I think, after all the healing. That was pretty close!

Virgil gasps as he regains consciousness. "We get him? Is everyone ok? Tracy?"

The ranger sits up wincing. "I haven't missed this part. Oh, hang on." He pulls a wand out of his bag (with magical speed!) and offers it to Balin. "Maybe you can actually use this thing! Hope I wasn't sold a bloody fake."

One wand of CLW for party use.

"Who's this guy? Virgil motions at the Barbarian "Is this the guy ?

EDIT: I totally forgot to confirm that critical for Virgil, I've been playing waaay too much 5e. Is Saracek undead?
If so, please add 4 to the confirmation (and 8 to the damage!)

Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Damage was 33

EDIT 2: I have been advised that Saracek is indeed undead. 41 damage total then!

"Bah, get it together El!" grunts Virgil chunks his Falchion into the foe.

"Great! Keep going!" Virgil gestures for Tracy at the ghouls further down the hallway.

"I'm coming El!" Virgil drops his bow and draws his Falchion, rushing into the room and swinging at big sword guy.

Sorry! Man, this exploded. Is roll20 accurate? Did we roll initiative already? Do you want me to roll separately for Tracy? Hopefully she can go before Virgil does! If not, Virgil will delay until after her attack.

"Augh! Are those ghouls?! Sic 'em Tracy!" Virgil gestures in a panic at the closest ghoul.

"We have to... unburn a club? Wonderful." Virgil mutters as he readies his longbow and nocks an arrow.

So we're headed to the second level via that tunnel? Any random encounters before we hit the Dungeon proper Brv?

"Thanks. Very kind." the ranger pockets them.

Does Balin prepare spells in sunlight? That's pretty sweet. Virgil worships a sun god too!

Virgil attempts to help Elathras navigate, but it becomes clear fairly quickly that he's completely forgotten the way.

"Wasn't it that way? Not... over here?"

"A pissed-off Barbarian? You burned his club? Can't say I'm thrilled at that idea."

Virgil hefts his pack up onto his shoulders with a shrug, before calling his bird down.

"But I'm in. So's Tracy. Bound to be more exciting than goofing around up here."

"And I'm Virgil... the uh, the Vigilant." he chuckles.

"Oh, and that's Tracy. Tracy the tenacious." he points skyward at a circling hawk.

"Back to Rappan Athuk? Count me in. ...Sorry sheriff."

Virgil nods in greeting to the traveler.

"You've got your work cut out for you then. Evil by the bucketload around here."

The ranger turns back to the party, eyeing his old team.

"Japes and Larks, eh?" he sighs.

"It's... great to see you all again. I'll be honest, I figured you'd kicked it."

He stands there in silence for a moment.

"Damn. Guys, I'm sorry. I... abandoned you. I didn't mean to, hell - it took me a week to remember what I did for a living! Can you forgi..." Virgil frowns. "El, did you grow a new nose?"

Virgil looks up at the sheriff on horseback.

"I can... vouch for these men sir. Adventurers all. A very efficient bunch."

This might also be a good place for Balin to show up from? Traveling with the same posse?

A man steps out from behind one of the horsemen.

"E...Elathras? Gruk? I... know those names."

The mustachioed man rubs his head in pain, wincing.

"We used to t..travel together. It's me, Virgil!

HP for Levels 4 and 5...

"I suspect you are right Kaztor: out of their bloody minds. What's the plan then? Write this off as another unsolvable mystery and head on?"

Virgil leans against some open wall, stopping for a drink from his waterskin.

Virgil freaks out. He wasn't ready for the mosaic, let alone the painting. "I don't like this. Let's go back to the goop."

Virgil chuckles at the rings and scrolls, his mouth gaping involuntarily when he sees the coins. "Nice find Kaz. Now I remember why I got into this business. Where to next?"

No AoO on Virgil? It is large after all.

Virgil dashes towards Elathras, rounding another corner, whipping out his falchion and slashing the rat.

Oh man, I've gotta eat an AoO here...

Falchion: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 222d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 = 15 Worth it though, I hope.

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

"Spider? Is it a normal spider or a giant one?"

Either way, Virgil will round the corner, head into the room and strike fast and hard at the arachnid.

"Sounds good to me, though I can't see anything interesting. What was on the other side of that thing?"

Virgil eyes the jugs of vinegar sadly.

"I agree, Elathras. Teleporting is going to get us separated and killed."

Virgil follows his friend, keeping an eye out for traps.

Virgil sighs, frustrated. "Grúk, you just missed them."

Virgil stands there with Mitleid and Irenicus, looking thoroughly confused.

Virgil waves Elathras and Kaz goodbye, standing watch at this handprint. "Try not to die back there."

"Spread out where? It's a pretty small corridor." Virgil starts to look around for anything else unusual. "GRUK?"

"Gah. Next time I'll have you tie a rope to me before we trip the trap. Thanks Elathras."

Virgil climbs out of the pit, dusty and bruised. "Let's keep moving, eh?"

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 The dice are against me.

Virgil groans at Elathras's joke, approaching the pit trap with care. "Don't worry Norwood, I've got this one. Just watch and learn."

"Damn it, not again..."

Virgil's nose thanks you. Does Elathras have to hold it up?

"Nice work, man. I guess we move on."

Surely we can squeeze 3 in? I thought the 5ft rule was just to simplify combat.

Virgil nods along with Grúk again, taking a wide stance and gripping one of the bars. "I think you may be right Elathras. Your uh... nose is running, by the way. Sound good then? Everyone heaves on the count of three?"

One Strength check with 3 or 4 assists? Can Elathras rage and try?
