Irenicus |

Irenicus pulls out a 5ft length of rope and moves to the corner, muttering an incantation. It floats up and disappears into the ceiling. Rope trick 5hrs, holds 8 people.
"We may be safer sleeping in here. I will need to renew it midway through the night."
We can see out but no one can see in, extradimensional space, holds everyone. Probably better for sleeping than the middle of the dungeon.
Halfway through the night during the change in watches, Irenicus refreshes the rope trick.

brvheart |

Rope trick or no, I still need a watch order. It is no longer a safe place in pathfinder as it once was.

Elathras Narcinal |

...Watch order irenicus and Virgil, Gruk and mittleid, elathras and new cleric?
Was this the order? Or is there another one? I'm OK with whichever.

Irenicus and Virgil, you hear the door open and then everything goes dark. You two roll init please.
And make Wills saves vs fear.

Virgil the Vigilant |

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
"SOMETHING IS HERE" A very nervous (possibly frightened) Virgil calls Tracy with a whistle and readies his Falchion.
"Can anyone see?!"
assuming he is able, Virgil will ready an action to swing his Falchion in the direction of anything attacking him

Irenicus |

init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Not sure the will save would reach us but rolled anyway see spoiler. Btw rope is in corner of room.
Spells cannot be cast across the extra-dimensional interface, nor can area effects cross it. Those in the extra-dimensional space can see out of it as if a 3-foot-by-5-foot window were centered on the rope. The window is invisible, and even creatures that can see the window can’t see through it.

brvheart |

You really want the people on watch to be in the extra-dimensional space? It does not protect them from being found in pathfinder.
So the intelligent monster that can climb just climbs the rope and then you roll and fail your Will save. Virgil passed his at least/
When this spell is cast upon a piece of rope from 5 to 30 feet long, one end of the rope rises into the air until the whole rope hangs perpendicular to the ground, as if affixed at the upper end. The upper end is, in fact, fastened to an extra-dimensional space that is outside the usual multiverse of extra-dimensional spaces.
init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

That would be a no, Virgil. You doing anything else?

brvheart |

One of them attacks Virgil while Irenicus cowers in the corner. You here bones rattling on the rope.
short sword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5 and STR: 1d3 ⇒ 2
short sword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 and STR: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Everyone else can roll perception, if they do not roll a 1 they can roll init.

Virgil the Vigilant |

Is Virgil flatfooted due to darkness? If so that second one hits. Is that strength damage? If it is, subtract 1 off my hit and 2 off my damage. I probably forgot something for fighting in the dark too. I think I missed anyway.
miss chance (below 50 is a hit): 1d100 ⇒ 89
readied Falchion attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 112d4 + 12 ⇒ (2, 4) + 12 = 18
"Aaaaaaaah!"

Irenicus |

I assume they can see invisibility or something otherwise it's just a ceiling. Are you saying they climbed into the rope trick? Is that even possible if the wizard doesn't want them to enter? I would guess that they'd have to at least enter the closed room, notice the rope, see invisibility, and then wait around for the spell to end when we leave. And where is the cleric? Are we not getting one?

brvheart |

They do not have to, they see the rope. And it cannot be hidden or pulled up. Might want to take a look at this
thread

Irenicus |

OK... So the spell in PF is worthless, got it.
As soon as the darkness appears in the room, He uses a scroll of grease, reaching down and covering the rope with grease. 5 min. Let them waste time climbing a rope that apparently just attaches to the ceiling. Maybe they will think it's stupid to try climbing greasy ropes that go nowhere.
Irenicus wakes the others and warns them that some creatures may try to climb into the rope trick. Free action after grease, since the "fear" can't reach through the portal before they climb into it.

Irenicus |

Except that's what I do as soon as the darkness appears, before it climbs into the rope trick and the will save can't affect anyone in the rope trick until they enter it unless it affects other dimensions/planes.

Initiative Order Round One
Virgil
Gruk
Elathras
Skellies
Irenicus
Mitleid

Virgil the Vigilant |

Shucks, sorry guys. Virg's Attack is directed at the square he was last attacked from.
Virgil screams and slashes blindly into the darkness. "Aaaaagh!"
miss chance (below 50 is a hit): 1d100 ⇒ 92
Not having much luck...
"Tracy! To me!" Virgil bellows as he starts to worry.
I don't know how much leeway I have with a companion. Can I direct her to attack a square? Oh, and was that Strength damage?"

brvheart |

Revised init order
Initiative Order Round One
Virgil
Gruk
Thoron
Elathras
Skellies
Irenicus
Mitleid

brvheart |

Yes, that is strength damage Gruk and then Thoron are up. Thoron,
you were just rudely awakened and it is completely dark. Not even your darkvision is working for some reason.

brvheart |

Along with your party you see two black skeletons.
This creature looks like a skeleton with glistening black bones, seemingly constructed of blackened steel. Small red pinpoints of light burn in its hollowed eye sockets.
