FYI the solar weapon also produces light.

Assuming nothing attacks him, Vagoru will gradually work his way along the wall towards where the pipe comes in.

He hefts his new gauss gun in one pair of hands and his tactical Doshko in the other two. He seals his armor against vacuum.

"Shall we have a look? I think this is what we came for."

For the record, the amount of time the armor can sustain you without recharging is a number of days equal to the level of the armor. For example, Vagoru's defiance armor is level 3, so he can go 3 days until the armor's systems need to be recharged.

Vagoru addresses the computer. "A.I.: Did the object that penetrated the hull come in contact with the rainforest biome? That biome seems to be contaminated."

Vagoru looks over the giant mushrooms behind the barrier.

"Very vigorous lifeforms, to have taken over the biome so swiftly. I wonder if the object that crashed into the station was another race's version of a terraforming ship? Designed to convert the local environment to an ecosystem that mimics their home planet? "

Actually, I was going to suggest not docking... leaving our ship nearby on autopilot and then spacewalking from the ship to an airlock. Armor also acts as a spacesuit.

That does depend on whether the ship is a shuttle or a light freighter. A shuttle has a maximum of 4 crew. So with a pilot, engineer, captain, and science officer, nobody else can contribute. If it is a light freighter though then the maximum crew is six.

We never did get stats for the ship.

Ship Roles:
We never really discussed ship roles before since we were told at the start that we didn't need to do so, and we didn't build for ship roles. But since we flew this ship out here, we really ought to have a good idea of who is good where... except for Gil of course.

Pilot: The best here is Khall with +10. Kit has +7.
Engineer: The best here is Kit with +10. Khall has +9. Bronen has +8.
Science Officer: The best here is Khall with +9. Kit and Bronen both have +8. Gil has +6.
Captain: Since Captain uses Diplomacy and Intimidate, the best here is Vagoru with +7 in both skills. Nobody else has either of those skills at any significant level.

The ship doesn't even have a Gyrolaser, but if it did have a weapon, anyone can use one. Gunnery: Khall has +6, Snorri and Kit both have +5. Vagoru has +3. Bronen and Gil both have +2.

Our Ship (important for pilots):

I am guessing that the ship is a small sized one. Tiny ships can only usually hold 1 or 2 people.

There are two classes of small ships: Shuttles and Light Freighters.

I'm guessing our ship is a Shuttle. The maximum crew of a shuttle is 4, so nobody else can help out the basic four roles. A shuttle also gives the pilot a +2 to Piloting checks.

If it was a freighter it would allow up to 6 crew, so two other crew members could act as secondary engineers or science officers (there can only ever be one pilot or captain). But the pilot bonus for a freighter is only +1.

Captain checks are basically Aid Another checks. Do I need to choose a specific other check to help?

I'm guessing our wimpy little shuttle is a tier 1 ship, which would make the DC of a Demand action DC 16, or an Encourage action would be DC 15.

I would probably go with Demand since my intimidate and Diplomacy are both +7. I'll do one for each station.

Demand -> Science Officer: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Looks like three successes, so the Pilot gets a +4 to his first check, the engineer gets a +4 to his second check, and the Science officer gets a +4 to his third check.

Actually, though it's hard to tell from her sheet, it looks like Khall has a +10 in piloting which would make her the best pilot I think. Operatives get so many skills that generally they are good at most things.

Yes, I know that. The Feat allows you to use a medpatch in a way it was not designed for.

But note this line from the feat description:

So if you use a medpatch to treat deadly wounds, it does not grant any bonus at all. The reason you would do it this way is because you didn't have a medkit handy.

The medpatch does not allow trained checks to be made at all; it simply allows untrained checks to be made - with a decent bonus. If you are trained, you don't need a medpatch to do what the medpatch normally does.

The Medical Expert feat is actually pretty lame. I looked into the idea of building a character around it a while ago and ended up discarding the idea. You would normally take the feat if you expected to be in circumstances where you need to use medicine skill and don't have the proper equipment. If you actually have the proper equipment, the feat really doesn't help you much. I would normally say Skill Focus: Medicine would be a lot more useful, though it doesn't stack with Channel Skill.
