I personally like 25pt buy builds because I think they offer you more 'options', but I also feel people tend to go even more min-maxing than usual with those. So 20pt buy is usually the 'safe' choice?
Though... Why not something different? Like 4d6 drop the lowest down the line? I like the 'randomizing' effect, but there are two things I am not crazy about - the possible shenanigans with the Paizo post preview feature, and the eventual disparities between character ability stats. Lets face it, it is never fun to be the 'below average' one in a group where everyone was really lucky with their rolls. You can always do 'both' though, which is actually the better of 2 worlds in some ways versus 25.
You roll, and your rolls need to meet the 20pt threashold, Aroden be praised if you get all 18s. But if you get all 12s, that doesn't meet the 20pt buy, so you roll again. Just a thought.
For me, I would also rather that the rolling be done on Discord or any other way than here at Paizo, for any number of reasons, which isn't to say that I have ever cheated, or re-labeled rolls the way that I wanted the results to look, or ever added an un-needed roll ahead of a roll that I didn't like to get a re-roll ... but yeah, anywhere but here. Interesting idea on the 20pt threshold. And an even more interesting one on where to roll the dice, with which I agree. Discord adds an extra layer of complexity though. Slight modification to the attributes idea: Maybe first roll 4d6 (drop the lowest? Then decide between that or take a 20 pt build, leave it up to the player?
I have no opinion on where rolls are made, to be honest.
A back to basics - or back to Core, as it were.
Absolutely interested.
Annnnd of course, I'll be unavailable for the weekend JUST as we start. lol Guys, I have a rare full weekend off, (I work 6 day weeks regularly) and my wife surprised me with plans to go away to a bed and breakfast til Sunday.
I'll do my best to post something, but no promises til Sunday at the earliest.
Jaymin Thrushberry wrote: Alistair Fox wrote: Alistair appreciates Nico's attention but feels he is often the fool in front of her. Particularly when they are practicing marksmanship. He enjoys fencing with the Jaymin and Vaeldin. Meanwhile he hopes to learn to gain the attention to detail that Orin has shown at crime scenes. Not sure if it counts as fencing when one person uses an axe three feet wide. Maybe they worked on their knife skills together. While Vael's favorite weapons are his warhammer and greatsword, he's proficient enough in a longsword for some sparring.
And he's about 6'2".
Definitely feel better, GH. No worries. We'll be here.
;)
Vael will have some of the usual paladin "quirks", you know, the honorable/noble stuff, but since it's being established we've known each other for a while, you'll all know that he's not totally uncompromising.
He's loyal and won't overlook anything evil, but he is compassionate, and has a sense of humor. (i.e. Not Lawful Stupid) He won't knowingly tell a lie or disobey a direct order from a superior, but he may be willing to keep his mouth shut, or act against indirect or unspecific orders but only IF the situation is dire, and lives are at stake. ...and then he'll do penance.
As it seems he's the only one currently going to have any healing potential, as we level, I'll be working to increase his capacity in that area.
Vael Grimblade, Paladin of Abadar, reporting as ordered. Sir.
No issues with the "singing detective" accommodation.
:)
Vaeldon's backstory is done, and the CS is ready.
Good luck, everyone!
Apologies for not having my background up yet. 1. Got stuck working mandatory OT at work again, and 2. I actually wrote up a version of my paly as an Oathbound one just to see how it worked. Cool, but I'll stick with what I have.
Backstory should be up by tomorrow.

Nevets- I'm not familiar with that archetype at all, but the even the base cavalier has some decent support/buff abilities. If you're still interested in exploring more support opportunities you could look at the oath of the people's council (it gives paladins some bardic performance instead of smite evil)?
I'll admit that I'm tempted, because it's so unique and inspiring bonuses are fun...but unless you're hinting that an Oathbound paladin with support abilities would be more useful in this game than one with Smite and Aura...I'll stick with a standard paladin.

Rhubarb Tuesday wrote: If there can only be one halfling, I will withdraw Tuesday and make way for the Titan mauler (who I honestly think is awesome). My reason is certainly NOT due to lack of interest. This sounds super fun, but I was in two competitive recruitments at once… both with tiny red-haired fire-themed monks. My PF2 Sprite Monk just got the green light a few minutes ago, and I don’t want to end up in a situation where I’m juggling two new adventures at once, out of fairness to the GMs and other players.
Thanks so much for the invite to the recruit, GH. I enjoyed your style of GM’ing last time around, so I’m sure this will be a blast.
Awwwwwwww :(

Also, for fun, I just sketched Tuesday chasing a stereotypical cartoon robber. (And yes, shoes with her dress uniform… Tues tries to fit in with the human world. Mother disapproves.)
You did that? That's excellent!
Crunch is done, working on the backstory.

Now is the time for the Tower Shield Build, now is the time for Mobile Bulwark Style and providing cover.
Now is the time for MORE ARMOR CLASS.
That said, should have a rough draft up today at some point.
Ki
Do we have a Rising of The Shield Hero here. That would be cool.
Question, GH:
How do you feel about the Non Lethal Force feat? Technically it's 3rd party, but all it does is remove the attack penalty when trying to fight without killing your opponent.
I plan on having a club or hammer for this sort of thing, since having a member of the watch slicing up drunks with his sword seems a bit extreme.
Less than optimal for gaming, maybe, but seems to make sense from an rping perspective.
Just lemme know. :)
Still working on my Paladin of Abadar character. The WIP is in my profile but without the background, as we had surprise OT at work. (Yay?)
He'll be complete no later than this weekend, possibly tomorrow.
Oh, yes, this is the alias login for Mr. Nevets. Almost forgot.
Sorry, guys. I got over-zealous, distracted, and rolled one too many sets. Apologies. And yes, I'll go with the 20 pt buy, if that's ok.
* sheepish, embarrassed grin *
As for the memo on the temperatures and gear? Brrrrrrrrrr.
Gonna have to buy that kid some proper clothes.
If I don't get picked for the actual group, I'd love to volunteer to play an animal companion! :D
And for the record, I have a combined point buy of 16. Yay!
11, 9, 12, 13, 16, and 12 for stats. NOT complaining, just making note of it.
Looks like I'm playing a thief or scout! (We'll see)

Wow, quite the introduction and advertisement! Hooked me right away, and I'll be honest, the maps remind me of the "good old days" of table top D&D from when I was younger.
This sounds like exactly the kind of game with possible long-term possibilities that I've been waiting to play. Consider me interested at the very least. :)
And while 20 pt buy is always fun, if this has any chance of turning into a campaign, I just gotta roll, no matter what comes up.
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 1) = 12
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 2) = 11
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 5) = 15
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 1) = 14
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6) = 18
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 4) = 13
Stat:: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 6) = 15
And I might as well try my hand at some spoilers while I'm at it, eh?
I'll choose 3, 4, 7, 9, 13, 16, and 18
3 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 6
4 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 14
7 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 19
9 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 13
13 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 19
16 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 7
18 Spoiler Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Like the others, would like to play, am familiar with PF1 and play by post (though only a little on this site), and have yet to play PF2.
If you have a spot, would love to fill it with a 1st level Fighter. If you have enough volunteers that are new to the hobby and want to try it out, I will gladly step aside.
Mr. Nevets here, and Vaeldon's my alias for this. Definitely human fighter, and looking for a melee. Been wanting to play this AP for forever.
