I know this may have been asked and answered before but I am not able to find an answer. On a Gargantuan Blue Dragon - Frightful Presence 330 FT & DC 28 - what would be the Duration of the effect and for dragons, would the effect be frightened or something else? This is for an Adventure Path dragon.
Than you all for your info. It was all helpful. I ended up purchasing a few items and then consumables for the adventure. I also realized I did not have the material component required for a few other spells. In terms of retirement, he will be spending his Venture Captain days in his wizard tower in Hagreach (Land of the Linorm Kings) with his friend and fellow V.C., Hijiliack.
I have purchased the Pink Rhomboid Ioun Stone. Any neck slot item will take away from his using the hand of glory, which gives him a third ring slot which he uses for the ring of evasion. After his bonded item (ring), the ring of protection, and the ring of evasion, no other rings really compare. Outside of combat, he is really just a knowledge guy and back up on perception with a +15. He does know plenty of languages with 24 languages and a +25 linguistics. He can attempt to aid in diplomacy with a +7. He does have fly and overland flight in his spellbooks and has a +22 fly skill. In terms of what is listed on his chronicle sheets, there is a Staff of Illusion but that is 82,000 GP. Due to a specific scenario, he can use Chain Lightning, Greater Dispel Magic, or Greater Invisibility as a SLA once with his level as the CL and Intelligence when determining the DC. At this point, any bonus to his AC or CMD is a mute point. There is little need to up his ranged attack bonus due to true strike, which of course he knows he has to cast the round before hand. He has only enough gold for maybe 1 lvl 4 pearl of power or 1 or 2 lower level ones. Main concern right now may be on consumables since he may not have the gold for other high ticket items and some other upgrades or available items may be a mute point. Current wealth: 23,196 GP 2 SP
Hello everyone, In a little over a month, I will be playing my level 14 Human Universalist Wizard in one of the 12 - 15 scenarios that will bump him to level 15 and will most likely be his final farewell into retirment as a VC (I have the boon). He has just over 31,000 gold and I am not entirely sure what to spend it on. I am hoping I may get some help from you guys and gals. Here is the major info: STR 12
AC 18, F-F 13, Touch 17 CMB +8, CMD 25 Fort 11, Ref 16, Will 15 Initiative: +11 Traits
Feats
Notable Gear
With all of this being said, I do play him as a Universalist that focuses on Evocation spells with some Necromancy harming spells and other damage dealing spells. When needed, he will summon creatures through Summon Monster spells. Unless the spell is from a player companion book, I may already have enough spells with just over 100 to choose from in 4 spell books. I do know that consumables like healing potions will need to purchased. Any helpful info will be met with gratitude.
PFS question, and my apologies if you already answered this but I do not have the time to dig. For the Drake companion for the Cavalier archetype in Legacy of Dragons, since it does not specifically state Bestiary Feats like Improved Natural Attack or Improved Natural Armor as being listed being available for the feat selection for the Drake, are the bestiary feats available for the Drake for pfs play?
I understand that areas can have difficulty finding consistent and reliable GMs that are in any way okay to top notch at GMing. But not everyone will be good at GMING and others just won't. As much as I could see a need for more for GMs who do gm, I do not agree with rewarding GMs for running the same things over and over. There are some scenarios I would run multiple times, like the quest for perfection trilogy, because I have found GMing them fun but I do not think one should continously get boons or chronicle sheets for gming. Shoot, if you gm the scenario 1st, you can hand pick which character gets the sheet and get insider info for when you actually play it. I do not agree with threats either that if people do not step up, a certain number of people can't play or have to go home.

We'll maintain the charade til I can deposit you somewhere safe." I could go with this as a GM. A paladin may have trouble going along with this but depending on the context, your idea might be a fine line I would allow.
Just give bad guys abilities that only go into affect verses the min/maxer. Like having optimized Cavaliers who always challenge his character so they are easier to hit by everyone else yet more effective against his character. There can be ways to work around it this campaign but definitely have a talk before next campaign.
I have a character that is level 7 and 1/3 that I am sitting on for my area to put together a group to play Bonekeep 1, 2, and 3. I have learned that there is a new scenario out that is a sequel to a previous year's scenario that the same character has played. Yet, I am in a situation where I am unable to play bonekeep 1 and 2 and the new scenario since all 3 are 3-7 in range and after 2 more XP, my paladin is level 8. Since I was not able to find an answer on my own with limited time, here is my question: with having started a level on normal progression (1xp, 2pp), can I change to slow progression during the same level (in this case, the movement from level 7 to level 8) or do I have to reach level 8 before changing to slow progression?
I have seen other players with issues in game but not as bad as this. A guy who used to play in our local society stuff had mental issues. I was never told what he had but think of a combination between socially retarded and a minor pinch of terrets. He was a minor irritation that could be handled on his good days. Another player who was a friend of the gm basically had a rage quit during book 1 of Kingmaker. The GM had one of those octogon things for rolling your dice in and demanded all D20 rolls be rolled into it. After so many sessions, the player has a hissi fit, states that his cavalier sits the throat of his horse, throws his dice and storms off. The group was disbanded after that.
With only 3 players and a pregen trying to complete Bonekeep 1 in 4 hours or less, I really do not think a "Nananananana, you can't hit me" build is going to help as much as other builds would. If this wasn't timed, you could work around the build but in boxing terms, fights have to be more 4 round KO and move on fights and not 15 round slug fests. Another thing that can help with time, have things already planned out so that when it is your turn, you do A if the creature is alive or B if it isn't and the math for every type of attack or skill or attack and damage is already listed like I will for my paladin (normal att/damage, if I power attack, power attack with smite evil, or anything else).
In game: a player deciding to take his disagreement with my (as the GM) judgement call to the paizo forum during the session and then shoved his phone in my face about two thirds of the way through the session about how the boards are raging over my call. Later on, I had realized I made the wrong call but will never allow the player at a table I gm at again, society play or otherwise. Out of Game: too many issues with things on roll20. Not the site itself but some of the players and GMs.
This may have already been dealt with but I do not have the time to look it up. If a gm that was running an adventure path (Rise of the Runelords in this case) and giving out credit for it leaves and another person steps up to gm but refuses to do society credit, would any pfs character having received credit thus far still be locked out of play until the AP is done or can the character be played since credit is no longer given? We were playing with characters generated for the AP and then assigning credit to pfs characters.
Anyone can craft mundane items like a table or chair or even regular armor and weapons, up to masterwork quality. To magically enhance an object, one has to ba able to cast spells and the specific spell for certain things (you have to be able to cast cure light wounds to create a wand or potion of it). The chapter dealing with item creation will list the caster level you have to be to perform an action (for every +1 added to a weapon or armor, your caster level has to be 3 times the end result - have to have caster level 9 at least to get the enhancement up to a +3). Hopefully I have helped some
I do not have the Core in front of me but for potions that anyone can use or to sell, first you need the brew potion feat. There is an alchemy ability where you can create a potion and hand it to a party member to drink. But to sell or make potions for just anyone, you need brew potion as a feat. With the feat, I think it is a choice between spellcraft or craft alchemy for the check. You will need so much GP in crafting materials per potion though. I want to say this is chapter 15 of the Core that deals with item creation. The chapter will give info on everything. The unchained book also has a variant way that has different DC checks but a shorter time frame for creation.

The lack of a break, whether it is due to the session going over or for any other reason, is why I am going to try and bring goodies to snack on.

For someone like myself, the cool factor can be highly debated but I will do all I can to bring my A game as a gm.
Thank you all again for the helpful info. Unless I win the lottery or suddenly get a job paying way more than I get now, I will be signing up as either a tier 1 or tier 2 GM for Gen Con. This will enable me to bypass a good portion of the financial costs for my first time. Depending on what tier I am, I can play one scenario or special and use the other free time to go venture off somewhere and buy things. Plus, having 6 or 7 months to prep what I get assigned will help a ton and hopefully help keep the running time closer to the 4 to 4 1/2 hour time, if possible.
@ Swiftbrook, I be coming from San Antonio, Texas. I do not mind GMing 7 scenarios and then either walking around during the other 3 slots or doing what-not if not playing. I will need to fly since I do not have a vehicle of my own right now (sold my vehicle for scrap a few years back since it died twice in 6 months and haven't been able to purchase a new or used one). I understand that there will be so much more to the overall convention than the little paizo room but if GMing 7 sceanarios/sessions and going is the only option I have to be able to go, I may have to make those decisions while saving up for the following year so I do not need to GM to go. Plus, tomorrow I will be playing in one of the specials and will get a look at how they may be in quality. I should easily be a 4 star gm by Christmas time so I may get chosen to GM a special. I would prefer the super star GMs be chosen for that but I would take the challenge and prep all that I can. But hey, I may get lucky between now and January to where I come into a lot of extra finances and do not need to GM for all access pass type of thing.
Thanks again Jezebelle. Looks like I may be GMing 7 slots then. Last bit of questions for the night, Jezebelle. Do those GMing and Volunteering get any extra favors or lottery tickets for the lottery drawing for playing specials (if the lottery thing still exists)? For the sake of scenarios being ran in regular or core campaign, can we request being assigned a scenario in either campaign (or both and run it twice) or is it at random?
I understand Kalindlara. I have been on enough group trips and mission trips that I am used to sleeping on the floor if needed and sometimes prefer the floor to sharing a bed with someone my size. Plus, I move enough in my sleep that I may go straight for the floor anyways. The issues for me would be someone jacking/messing with my stuff and not being able to get the ability to shower and other bathroom stuff before or after each day. But for the price, I may have to roll the dice if you will on the hotel mates for 4 nights.
Could I mix GMing and Volunteering (say the boon station)? I should easily be 4 stars by then but would leave the specials for the super star GMs. I definitely want to GM at least 2 or 3 slots and would be willing to volunteer some as well if I still get the free room and a boon or two for GMing. I would not mind the scenarios being assigned to me as long as I can try to make some requests. This will most likely be the way for me for my first time going. This would also enable more money saved to go to souvenirs and purchasing of boons people may not want or need, if available. I guess I could use some of the extra money saved to get a room for Sunday night after the con so I can sleep before going home.
Thank you all for the helpful info. I so do not have the money to reserve a room anywhere close to now. It would be around December at best. I could be willing to gm 7 slots but not a huge fan of sharing with 3 other people but it might be worth it for my first time visit, especially with being on a budget. Do the GMs get to choose which encounters or specials they GM (granted they qualify for the specials)? I know that playing in the specials is mostly done by lottery but there may be other scenarios that I really want to play and not GM during that time slot.
