I'll wait for GM's ruling on my Checks before doing anything else

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper rubs his hands together in glee.

Finally! he says, We can get out of this cursed sunlight! The eyes of Torag were not meant to peer at the ghastly candle in the sky for too many days on end!

Perception Check:
Trapper uses Perception Check to look all around the hole for any loot left behind by previous Pathfinders.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Knowledge Dungeoneering:
Using his Knowledge Dungeoneering Skill, Trapper triess to figure out anything about the hole: is it safe? natural? man-made? well-constructed? how old is it?
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Trap Check:
Trapper checks for traps, making sure there's nothing dangerous in or around the opening.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Question:
Does Trapper see anything?

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper gestures to Gozer, creating a comical image of a stone giant bending over to talk to a hobbit.

I suggest, if I may, that these guards take the girl back to me good friend and barkeep, Ameiko Kaijitsu. After all, she's got plenty of reward money now that she's found out about the House Jaffare's Demeter and her strange voyage from the deep South.

Bluff Check
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Trapper carefully measures the reaction of the guards out of the corner of his eye.

It's as poor a bluff as any since me brother Reef tried to swindle that Bullette cub from the circus, but these dimwits may have bought it. If they're part of the 'good' town guard, they'll take care of the girl. If they're from the darker side ... well, then they'll wind up taking a short drop from a long rope once Kaijistu's done wit 'em.

Were any of the horses wounded? We could try a dab of the potion on one of them and sees if it works. Me guess is that if it works on a horse, it may not work on a Goblin.

Perception Check for wounded horses
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

But then, again, I wouldn't know a wounded beast of burden if'n he hobbled up to me with three legs, one eye, and half an ear dangling from its head.

Oh, the things I gathered at the junkyards of Absalom. Not any good junk here on the Wild Coast. I'd have thought it'd been just the opposite ...

Trapper holds up his index finger in gesture as if he's about to say something, then closes his mouth and nods at the Wizard.

"Much appreciated," he says, and bows slightly.

Trapper pulls the dagger away from Git's hand.

Impressive, he thinks. Most impressive. Need to put this in me journal. Me brothers told me that Goblins have no conscience at all ... things are curious. Curious AND dangerous.

He turns to Tamilius, and breathes a huge sigh of relief.

"Here, my friend. But a favor, if you please? By the tough love of Torag I hope we never have to use whatever is in this thing.
But if we do ... May I have to empty bottle?"

He gingerly hands the vial to the wizard.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper looks at Maya and nods.

He grabs creature's hand, turns it palm up, and presses the dagger against Git's skin, without drawing blood.

Trapper speaks in the Common Tongue through clenched teeth.

"So, if me dagger draws blood, then this here potion will heal that wound? Want me to test it out on your hand?"

Trapper's eyes blaze!

He whirls around, yanks his dagger out of his belt, and presses the blade against Git's throat.

He screams in Goblin Tongue --

"YA FILTHY ARSE-MOUTHED LITTLE PIECE OF FUNGUS. IF YOU EVER SAY ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN I'LL KNOCK THE TASTE OUT OF YE MOUTH!

Grand Lodge

Trapper takes one of the vials from Git and examines it, wondering if he's seen it before.

He shakes his head and says, "Never seen anything like this before in me life."

I don't trust the lot of these critters. He's either scared or has plan. Or worse yet, more of his kind along the trail.

Sense Motive Check
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

GM Ruling:
I guess if Git is bluffing, Trapper might be able to detect it with a sense motive = 14

Trapper gets off his horse and begins to walk around the cornfield area with Git on a leash. He deliberately scans all part of the area -- the soil, the stalks of corn, any other plants, the trail itself.

He points to all the key areas of recent battle.
"Anything here that I need to be aware of?" he says to Git, and then repeats it in Goblin to make sure the creature understands.

Perception Check

When Trapper hears this he points a stubby finger at Git, and also says in the Goblin tongue:

I understood every word she just said to you, and if you do do anything to that child you better pray to that demon yours that I don't get to you first!

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

I'll take the slimy little varmint, Maya. I dropped the hammer on this one. Won't happen again on my watch.

Trapper, shuddering as he looks at the goblin, takes Git by the leash and makes him walk alongside the horse while he travels back to the cornfield where everyone else is.

He stares down at the creature and just shakes his head. What makes your race so damn vicious? He says to Git, not really expecting an answer.

XP question:

This is my XP list. What am I missing?

120 = ogre

225 = battle at the bridge

445 = current battle with the goblins

Grand Lodge

XP Level:
XP=720, by the Shire reckoning :-)

Trapper uses Perception Check to look for Git
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

There he is, M'Lady!

Question:
If Git is actually there, that is! Since Trapper doesn't know, and since I don't know, I guess this falls under DM's discretion.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper slows down enough so that he is even with Maya.

If you please, m'lady.
He holds out his hand to give her a boost up and onto the horse, if she prefers.

If the little bastard did try to run off we'll stand a better chance of tracking him down on horseback!

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper throws a hand over his mouth, his ruddy face reddening with fear and embarrassment.

We were attacked! The guide and I. We were attacked by one of those goblin-mutts!

He wheels about on the horse and gallops back to the ... still burning? ... farmhouse.

By Torag's workboots, what have I done?

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper and Dominque ride into the cornfield area where the main battle was taking place.

Perception Check for anything unusual =
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

After Dominque gets off the horse, Trapper pulls out his journal and begins to write down everything he's seen, including he burning farmhouse, the goblin-dog attacks, the battlefield scener in the cornfield.

Me brothers need to know that the peace that settled in these parts after we killed 'The Chopper' has given way to a new round of violence. If I can somehow get word back to them without spending every gold coin I own ...

Trapper's Journal:
I've gotten away from this aspect of Trapper's character. He wants to chronicle everything that's happening so that he can tell his family back on the Isle of Kortos what's happening along the Lost Coast. Trapper's Family traces its roots back to some unspeakable part of Golarian's history in what-is-now Varisia. Since he's been exiled here, he feels it's his duty to do as much research as he can.

"Thank the god of the mountains!" Trapper yells.
And without further ado holds his hand out to Dominque.

"Come along, Lass! We have to see if we can help the others!"

Here is the initiative order for the cornfield. Is this what Talby & Gozer are asking about?

•Belethor

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Free Action = Trapper moves his horse so that his line-of-sight is a good as possible.
Standard Movement = Grinding his teeth, he grabs yet another arrow from his quiver, sets, pulls the bow taut, taking deliberate aim at the goblin-dog's side, hoping the broader target will give him a solid hit.

thwang! swoosh!
Ranged Attack = 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13
Damage = 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

And Trapper's arrow causes what appears to be nothing more than a flesh wound.

Trapper now screams with frustration,
AHHHHHHHH!

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Standard Movement = Trapper notches another arrow.
Trapper takes careful aim at the goblin-dog's throat, hoping for a kill shot to do away with this menace and save Dominique.

thwang! swoosh!
Ranged Attack = 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Arrow Damage = 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Trapper rears back and snarls.
Me arrows are hitting, but this beast has a hide tougher than Kaglemros*.

asterick:
"Kaglemros" is the name of the war hammer used by the Dwarf god Torag

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper sees the rustling of the corn stalks and hears the sounds of weapons clanging.

He wonders, Can I ride me horse through corn?

He keeps his focus on Dominique, though, and their own goblin-dog menace for now. He prepares to grab another arrow.

And, he thinks ... Not sure about the intentions of this "guide" of ours, but I can't leave her to a fate like this.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper takes careful aim with his already notched arrow, knowing full well that he earned his feat of firing a Point Blank Shot when he was but a mere lad back in the port city of Diobel.

thwang!! and the arrow sails through the air at the hairless dog.

Ranged Attack = 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

BB Rules Question:
The BB rules say that an attack roll equal to or greater than the opponent's AC is a hit. According to the SRD, a goblin dog has an AC = 13, so would this be a hit? I'll roll damage for the fun of it. If it's a miss, disregard.

Arrow damage = 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper glares down at Dominik, and then shakes his head sharply.

He states firmly, "No, lass. You go on ahead, and I will keep my eye on the goblin."

Trapper remains mounted on his horse, his bow and arrow ready to fire.

Perception = 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Question:
@GM-Hairy -- Where are the tracks on the map you drew? I thought I followed your earlier explanation, but I may have gotten confused ... and I'm wondering if we need exact locations like we would in melee? Thanks!

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper is studying the area around the path into the corn, and says,"There is a patch of oil here at the start of the trail, and I think it could've been used for --"

He then stops abruptly when he hears the scream.
Upon Maya's urging, he rushes back to his horse.
He puts away his warhammer.
He draws his shortbow and notches an arrow, his eye keenly focused on the goblin.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper dismounts, and ties his horse to a tree.
His short sword is on a scabbard at his side.
His dagger is in his belt.
His war hammer is in his hands and battle-ready.

He begins carefully exploring the area around the trail, looks for traps.
He uses his "Trapfinding" Class Feature, which gives + 1 to Perception
Perception1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28

Question:
If there is a trap, then I presume Trapper would've located it with a roll = 28, but maybe not. Or maybe there is no trap.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Did we ride in from the south, so that we're facing the front of the house? And where is the doll?

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper calls out to everyone in the group:

"Should fan out and search the farm? That'll help us find survivors. And it might spare us if this is an ambush. What do you all think?"

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper takes in the surroundings.
He tries to study the cottage and surrounding area.
His ears are perked, listening for cries for help.

Perception Check
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

But he can't hear anything.
The thick black smoke makes his eyes water.

He draws his war hammer as he pulls his horse to a stop.
He spits at the thought of goblins.

Murderers. It's like the little menances were created out of chaos itself by some mad wizard millennia ago.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper is still angry, and it takes him a few moments to lower his bow and put away his arrow.

But as the others ride away, his rage starts to soften.

He kicks his horse into a trot to catch up.

Survivors, he says, in almost a mumble. Talberon is right. There might be survivors.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper eases the tension on his drawing hand, but only enough to keep his muscles from cramping.

He maintains his point-of-aim at Git.

"Aye," he says to Gozer, and then he remembers Maya's story, and that there's more to this than just his own loathing of goblins.

"At the very least, knock that laughter out of his filthy mouth."

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper stops his horse, whips out his shortbow and arrow, and points it squarely at Git.
Trapper's face is red with fury.

SHUT UP, you disgusting little bugger, or I'll fire this bolt clean through your miserable guts!

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper, distressed, tells Talberon:
No singing for me, either. This is all too reminiscent of the hunt for 'The Chopper'. It feels like all those wretched events are are happenin' all over again inside m'head.

Trapper shudders.

Spoiler:
It seems everyone is in the rear of the party

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper puts the map into his backpack.
He stows away his bow & arrows.

He gets on his horse.
His warhammer is in easy reach should something attack.

He rides at the rear -- just ahead of the two guides.
He sees the smoke in the distance and wonders where it's coming from.

Knowledge Check
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Trapper shakes his head.
Seems like I should know where we're headed, but these trails are not familiar. And that worries me.

Getting a hold of a fellow like Blank Eye may be more useful, and so much as I want to see him dead, it might be in our best interest to take him alive, interrogate him and then put him to the sword.

Again, I agree with Maya. Although, given the ogres and the situation with the town guard ... I don't trust half of them ... the other half I trust with m'life. Tis a very strange thing indeed, when ye feel ... er, um, I might be inclined to interrogate Blank Eye and then take the bastard alive back to the Sheriff. Now, about that leash ...

OOC:
Is "Disable Device" reversible? If so, Trapper uses the skill to tie one hell of a good knot:

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Aye, ye could be right, Trapper says to Talberon.
Control the river mouth, then ye control the harbor.
Control the harbor, and you choke the coastal road.
That's what the Sheriff feared.

Trapper strokes his beard as he thinks about this for a second.

But that's a mighty complicated plot for Goblins, even if their leader is smart.
Which is doubtful.
Maybe it's something in the harbor.
A sunken ship, perhaps. With treasure ... gold ... and gems ... and --

He shakes himself out of his daydream and turns to Tamilius:
Rumors abound of undead lurking these parts.
Strange place, this coastline.
Give me a landshark to fight in the mountains any day ...

He turns to Maya:
But I vote with Maya here.
Follow Git's lead to Blank Eye.
She owes a blood debt to that one-eyed slug. 'Twill be easier to hunt him down than returning to SandPoint to figure out riddles.

He coughs and looks at his feet.
And we won't get paid if we return to the city.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper shrugs his shoulders at Tamilius' question
-- "Can't say how it happened. But I can say that legends of dark magic are told up and down this coastline, from Magnimar to Windsong Abbey."

He then turns to the group
-- "The yellow lines mark the routes the city guard take. I remember this from the hunt for 'The Chopper'. And, this large circle here is where the ogre got loose. If I were a betting Dwarf -- which I happen to be -- I'd wager a pocket of silver that the guard routes and Xs are not a coincidence."

And Trapper thinks
-- But how in the name of the nine hells did all this happen? Did these Goblins infiltrate the city? Were they responsible for the Ogre? If so, then how'd they do it. Those two ogres would've had goblin for second breakfast.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper graciously thanks Tamilius for the arrows, then says,

"Gather 'round, all of ye if ye think it's safe. If I hadn't seen it with me own eyes I wouldn't believe it. Gozer had tracked down a man who rotted and turn to dust. I swear by the holy name of Torag himself."

Trapper is worried.
Very, very worried.

"I found a map of Sandpoint on that goblin there," he says. "I suggest we study it and see if it tells us anything about this Blank Eye, or gives us any clue about what just happened in the woods there."

OOC:
Is a Charisma Roll required? If so here it is: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Can Trapper see/hear this? Perception Check:

@GM -- Since I just rolled a "critical hit" on a perception check, I'll assume I can see *something*

Trapper positions himself on the bridge so that he has clear line-of-sight to the bloody trail that Gozer followed. His short ow is in hand, an arrow notched and ready. He is using the bridge abutment for cover.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

"That's because it is gibberish, Tamilius," Trapper says.
"Like talking dire rats, the lot of 'em."

Remaining watchful of the surroudings, Trapper tells Tamilius:

"He's part of a Goblin tribe called the Bonesnappers. Maya there asked him if he knows of a big goblin with milky white eye who carries a dwarven axe. Must be the one who killed her husband. And wouldn't surprise me in the least. I once saw a gang of these rabid vermin eat an entire litter of puppies that this family had taken in as pets. Talk about something that'll me ye blood boil. Turns out that little Git works for the big goblin. Called "Blank Eye" if my ears don't deceive me. He's offering to show us where Blank Eye is at."

Trapper continues to turn in a full circle as he talks, his short bow ready for anything that might come out of the woods or out of the stream.

"Tamilius? Could you do a Dwarf a favor? Could you find me a couple of those arrows that'll still shoot true? I have a feeling I'm gonna need 'em."

OOC:
Woops: We're all online at the same time, more or less. Looks like we've had some simul-posting. Anyway .... I had Trapper recount this because it seems like a realistic thing to do, to translate Goblin to Common. Sorry for the redundancy.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper nods and takes the gold from Talberon.

Thank ye, m'friend. I have to collect enough of these little gold beauties to pay for m'brothers' travels. They're coming all the way from Absalom to help me figure out what happened to our kin here along the Lost Coast. Which leads to your question. That filthy vermin ... ", Trapper nods at the dead goblin, "was carrying a map of --"

Trapper stops mid-sentence when he hears what Maya says in the Goblin language.

His attention distracted, he says.
"Map ... of ... Sandpoint and ...
DWARVEN AXE! WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT A DWARVEN AXE??!!"
.

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper folds up the map and puts it in his backpack.
He then takes his position at the foot of the bridge.
His short bow drawn and loaded with an arrow.

He makes a full 360 deg turn, his eyes taking in every detail of their surroundings.

As he scopes out the surroundings, he calls out to the group --

"I've got something important to show all of ye when we're finished dealing with that ... that Goblin."

Having heard and understood everything Git said, Trapper shivers a little.
He has a strange sense of deja vu when he hears the words "Bonesnappers" and "Licktoad".

He brushes this odd thought aside and remains vigilant.
He turns toward the water rushing under the bridge.

A babbling brook. Perfect cover for a second ambush.

"Thank you, m'friend", Trapper says to Gozer. "Your fighting skills would be welcome any time in the Land of the Five Kings!"

Trapper returns to the foot of the bridge, puts away his warhammer, and gets out his short bow and notches an arrow. He is wide-eyed and alert ... and red-faced.

And, he thinks, I am angrier than a Dwarven warrior at a Wood Elf's wedding! Not one single hit. Holy Torag, I need ye iron fist now more than ever!

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Rogue Level 2

Trapper is not always the brightest bulb in the chandelier.
I considered having him stay on the bridge but his WIS score is low, so following a barbarian into combat seemed to fit.

Grand Lodge
