Maya Harlech |
Knowing that her horse is not trained for war and might spoke easily, Maya rides forward away from the goblins towards a nearby copse of trees, hoping to find cover for her and her steed, as well as a safe place to dismount.
Ambush! Get your steeds to safety. Then we'll deal with these little gist.
GM-Hairy |
Trapper manages to turn his horse smoothly however the Goblin he aimed at easily dodged out of the way of his arrow, only to be hit in the shoulder by Talberon's crossbow bolt. Just as it was recovering Belethor's pellet hit it in the face finishing it off.
Tamilius's blast of ice was just dodged by another Goblin who stuck his middle finger up but in doing so he missed seeing Gozer's attack which was cleaved off that finger along with its head. The Goblin sunk to it's knees slowly spraying Gozer in blood.
Round 2: 1 Goblin Left.
The final Goblin looks around at the deaths of it's companions before smiling and revealing its pointed fangs. It drops it's bow and draws a short sword before attacking Gozer.
Melee Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The swing completely misses and a look of panic enters its red eyes.
Talberon Toil |
Talberon turned back around and pulled back on the crossbow string, snapping it into place.
'Damned-able Goblins interrupted our song!'
He affixed a bolt into the bolt trench and turned again, over the back of his horse.
'THWANG'
Trapper, Brother of Keith |
Trapper, fuming and puffing with frustration already, now trembles with fury at the Goblin's "smile".
He notches another arrow and sends it screaming toward the foul beast.
Ranged Attack
1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Dammit to the Nine Hells! I couldn't hit the side of a mountain!
Talberon Toil |
Talberon's horse pranced nervously...
"Yes, but it isn't down yet. Perhaps you could assist?" his eyes going from the still standing Goblin to the others, stopping on Tamilius, as he asked.
He pulled another bolt from a quiver for the crossbow.
'One of the others may bring it down, but there is surely more where these came from,' he thought, loading it into the crossbow.
Basing this on the Discussion Forum new from the GM
GM-Hairy |
Talberon's arrow punches through the last Goblin's chest and it sags to the floor.
Roque is rolling on the floor moaning in pain, blood pumping from the arrow in his shoulder.
Roll a perception. 15 or higher reveal the first spoiler. 20 or higher reveal both. Again sorry about the mistake.
Talberon Toil |
Looking up from Rogue to Trapper, Talberon says, "I sure hope your kidding. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think we should move him."
He looked at the bridge and tried to determine if it could be used as a choke point. Roll required?
To no one in particular, "You think we could use the bridge to slow them down a bit? Like a bottleneck?"
Gozer "Bone Splitter" |
Gozer steps over and grabs Rouqe by the collar and lifts him so that he can see Gozer's eyes.
They weren't supposed to hit you? You set this up? Gozer's voice increasing. He throws Rouqe back on the ground and turns to face the oncoming goblins axe at hand.
Gozer looks back over his shoulder at Rouqe. You better pray that they kill me or you are going to wish the arrow had killed you! He turns back to the goblins and yells out Come get some!
Trapper, Brother of Keith |
Looking up from Rogue to Trapper, Talberon says, "I sure hope your kidding. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think we should move him."
He looked at the bridge and tried to determine if it could be used as a choke point. Roll required?
To no one in particular, "You think we could use the bridge to slow them down a bit? Like a bottleneck?"
"Dwarves never joke about goblins, my friend!"
He turns and looks at Gozer and assesses the bridge.
"Aye, a bottleneck. The Northerner and I will hold this end, or Torag never owned an chisel!"
Trapper dismounts, straps his shortbow to his back, dons his war hammer, and stands like an immovable anvil, his face all angles.
Maya Harlech |
By this time Maya has tethered her horse in the nearby copse of trees. She figured there would be more goblins about. She leaves her horse, readies her shield and sword and makes her way hastily to the bridge to help her companions defend it.
I figured there would be more than three. A bottle neck is a good plan. These aren't trained warhorses. I suggest you tether your mounts. Though I do hear that goblins are often scared of horses.
GM-Hairy |
Roque turns white from blood loss and fear at Gozer, he starts crawling away heading for the trees that Maya just tied her horse to.
You can all hear the Goblins approaching now, they make no effort at concealing there approach, you can here their chants.
Party Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Goblin Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
You have 1 round to prepare for their approach. Before they appear where indicated on the map. Bridge is large enough to fit 2 people side by side or 1 horse, without danger of falling in.
Trapper, Brother of Keith |
Trapper surveys the scene.
"Talby!,"Trapper says, Any chance ye can get Tamilius off to the right there ...?"
-->He points to grid H4
"If so, then maybe you can flank them on one side, and Maya and Belethor can flank them on the other while Gozer and I hold the center. If that is okay by you, Gozer.
-->He points to grid K11
Talberon Toil |
-----------------
PREPARATION ROUND
-----------------
Talberon looked from Trapper to the direction the Goblins were advance as he stepped up to Tamilius and grabbed him. 5' to [I7]
"I think better behind you two," he huffed pulling Tamilius along. +10' to [K7]
"Scuze me Trapper," he said as he drug Tamilius to the bridge, "Want him on the.. other... side of you two. He allows Trapper to move enough to get Tamilius through. +15' (total 30') to [N7]
"There, you'll be fine," he whispers to the unconscious Tamilius.
What in the world happened to Tamilius?!!! Did I miss something?
-------------------
FIRST ROUND ACTIONS
-------------------
Talberon stood and pulled up his crossbow. Move Action
He saw the Goblins emerge, "Here they come," he said, stating the obvious.
He ran his thumb from his chin to his navel as he mumbled to himself, "Protect me father." Cast: Mage Armor Standard Action (AC 17)
Hope the two actions aren't confusing. If so, just assume the first prep actions.
Maya Harlech |
Maya moves to k8 to take up position to defend the bridge with her shield and sword ready to start killing goblins. She keeps her eyes ready for archers, but readies an attack for the first goblin that comes at her.
Are you ready boys? There might be a lot of them, but I don't expect they'll have much discipline or morale. If we can hit them hard early and take down a bunch the rest will probably cut and run.
Belethor Grimwood |
Belethor moves to K11 and as he moves over he draws his sword.
"Yep I reckon they will quiver and run by just the site of big boy over there!!!" He indicates to Gozer.
I will get a map and a summary of renewed positions up shortly.
Tamilius you can wake up anytime you want :P Never seen a 0 on a dice roll before :D
GM-Hairy |
You can hear the Goblins screeching now as they begin climbing over the rise they spot you and begin laughing and screaming, red eyes gleam from their sockets. Some carry bows but the others are holding ugly looking swords.
Before they can make any other move Gozer charges obliterating one with his axe, blood splatters and guts splatter across the ground.
Trapper also attacks, arriving just behind Gozer and makes a swipe with his Warhammer, however the Goblin blocked with his sword, the sound of clanging metal ringing out.
Talberon casts Mage Armour, however everyone is to preoccupied to notice anything.
So get a move from Maya, Belethor and Tamilius then it's the Goblins turn.
Maya Harlech |
Maya curses under her breath as she sees Gozer rush out to charge the goblins.
Blazes Gozer, what happened to defending the bridge? Get back and hold a line, so they don't surround us.
For this round she remains standing in her position in front of the bridge, and keeps an attack ready for the first goblin that comes at her.
GM-Hairy |
Maya remains alert and defends the bridge while Belethor releases a swarm of Magic.
The Goblins recover from the momentary ordeal with Gozer and Trapper and screeching 3 of them try to strike back
Melee attack on Gozer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Melee attack on Gozer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Two Goblin's miss swinging wildly in there haste to kill, however one is more skilled with the blade and swipes up at Gozer's legs.
The sword slashes across his legs drawing blood but not enough to cause any significant damage.
Two other Goblins draw back on their bows firing at both Talberon and Maya.
Ranged Attack Talberon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Maya easily blocks the incoming arrow with her shield, the Goblin shrieks in frustration. However Talberon is not so fortunate and the arrow buries itself deep in his shoulder.
Red eyes flashing the Goblin laughs manically at the damage it causes.
The final one charges Maya attempting to break her attack squealing as it runs, its weapon held high above it's head.
The ring of metal on metal pierces the air as the Goblins wild attack clangs harmlessly off Maya's shield.
Everyone else's turn now.
GM-Hairy |
Ive said a few times that you can wake up at any time but if not roll a Fortitude Save against a DC 10.
Beat it and you wake up but you can only perform a move or standard action for one turn.
Don't and you can wake up but have no moves for one round.
Not really sure how to handle it fully but is this ok? I have only been GMing since Christmas so I apologise if I make mistakes I am doing my best.
Trapper, Brother of Keith |
Trapper rolls his eyes at the first goblin's wild swing, and then his mockery turns to wide-eyed shock when he sees a goblin actually hit Gozer.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
"Ye two-bit little sack of pus," he yells at the goblin in the Goblin's own language. (free action)
Trapper attacks with his warhammer (standard action) at the closest goblin:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
:sigh:
I have only been GMing since Christmas so I apologise if I make mistakes I am doing my best.
You're doing great. No worries.
Talberon Toil |
Talberon felt the shaft slam into his shoulder and caught the shaft and grungy feathers out of the corner of his vision. Looking down, it registered, 'I've been shot... strange it doesn't hurt one...'
That was when it hit him, the seering pain. It shot down his arm, across his chest, and through his back.
"AHHHHH!" he screamed.
He slumped slightly, 'PULL IT TOGETHER, OR YOU WILL DIE ON THIS BRIDGE!', he heard his mind say.
His body responding shakenly, he raised his crossbow and lined up on the Goblin he thought had shot him. At least at one that had a bow...
-Thwang-
Gozer "Bone Splitter" |
Gozer stops for second looks down at the scratch on his leg and smiles at the poor poor goblin and then lets out a roar of pure death at it, he lifts his axe over his head and brings it down.
Rwaahhhh!!!!
GM-Hairy |
Talberon aims at the Goblin that hit him, the bolt flies true and punches through the creatures bulbous head exiting the back in a spray of blood and brains. It almost floats to the ground coming to rest in a small pile.
You notice that the bridge has a wooden slats that come up onto the grass allowing you to cover your self behind it. However to fire you still need to remain above the wooden slats.
I will rule that you have 40% cover. i.e. the Goblins have a 40% chance to miss you if they attack. Is this ok?
Trapper's swing is blocked by the Goblin's viscous looking blade, your weapons are locked momentarily and he grins greedily at you before swiping wildly with his sword. But you easily parry, the Goblin's grin becomes a snarl.
The Goblin squeals as Gozer's axe rips through the air towards the leg slasher but in it's fear it manages to dodge beneath the great blade. It looks momentarily shocked before screaming and attacking once more his friend joining in.
They both strike at your legs carving two more slashes into your flesh. They laugh maniacally, clearly they are having fun.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
1d4 ⇒ 4
1d4 ⇒ 2
The Goblin dodges easily away from Maya's attack and it quickly strikes back but once more the clang of sword on shield rings out. It growls spit flying from its malformed mouth before speaking in Goblin.
Tamilius's missile fires across the land hitting one of the Goblin's with a bow, leaving burnt flesh on it's shoulder.
Belethor charges the Goblin that Tamilius just hit and misses wildly his sword chopping only grass.
Does this help at all?
