Male Human Summoner 1

I'm playing a summoner. It seems the general consensus is that I'm too OP as it stands, and probably don't deserve a vote on whether someone else is too powerful :)

My own opinion, 2d8+1 is pretty high at this level, if it's like the Warlocks at-will touch attack from 3.5 (wasn't it a d6 at level 1 in 3.5?). I really haven't read it though, so can't say.

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel sets his hound upon one of the skeletons, while firing a crossbow bolt at another.

Something else I'd throw in is on your own profile page, include basic rolls. If you do the dice format for example, it doesnt' actually roll on a profile page, so you can copy easy peasy.

For Example Link

Just copy and paste.

Also you rolling peoples saving throws can help speed things up (in my opinion at least).

Male Human Summoner 1

"I will not be pushed back!" Sylavel once again conjures forth a hound from the hells below. The creature appears behind the encroaching undead, launching into them in a ravenous fury.

Male Human Summoner 1

Still here

Male Human Summoner 1

Shall we sound off to see who's still here?

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel will wonder about town, seeking out an alchemist for a few items for the return trip. If time allows he will also see about picking up a sling.

Male Human Summoner 1

"Heading back does sound reasonable at this point."

Male Human Summoner 1

Still here, need to refresh myself on the situation but I'll try to post by tonight. At work myself at present.

Male Human Summoner 1

With Sylavel's dog dead from the creature's acid, he himself feels out of options and readies his crossbow.

Sylavel readies an action to shoot when there's no cover.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 damage 1d8 ⇒ 6

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel moves to AA43 and summons a....Fiendish Riding Dog! Summon it to V43 and have it attack the slime at W43.

Bite 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

"Let's see if a summon can help again."

Male Human Summoner 1

Inish 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Double move to AA44

"What's going on?"

Male Human Summoner 1

"Sounds as good as any other option."

Male Human Summoner 1

"Good idea. Hopefully there's not more of these walking dead guys in there." Sylavel readies his crossbow and keeps an eye out, covering whomever helps Blythe. He keeps the dog around until it's time has expired.

Male Human Summoner 1

The dog will attack the skeleton at Q23, or move and attack one of the others if it's dead by it's turn.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Trip 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Male Human Summoner 1

Wasn't too concerned with my own attacks. But hey, I'll try one.

Sylavel moves into a position for a better shot and lets loose his crossbow.

Moved to P26, shoot at skeleton at Q23

Attack1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
Damage1d8 ⇒ 1

Male Human Summoner 1

The dog assaults the nearby skeleton.

Dog's attack:
Bite1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Damage1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Trip 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Male Human Summoner 1

Unconcerned with the fate of the devil's hound, Sylavel orders it to attack the undead beast assaulting Blythe, ignoring all others on the field.

At work all day, so I can't manipulate Google Docs here. Sylavel moves up 30' to T25, and has the fiendish dog move to the zombie on Blythe (P23). If it has to provoke to do so it will. I'll roll it's attack if it can get there.

Dog's attacks:
Bite1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Damage1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Trip 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Male Human Summoner 1

On my action, I'll move up within range to use a summon against the nearest creature. I'll summon a Fiendish Riding Dog. It'll last 1 minute.

Fiendish Riding Dog:
Dog, Riding (Fiendish, Augmented Summon)
This burly dog is fitted with a small saddle. A low, menacing growl rumbles up from its chest.
Riding Dog CR 1

dog's attack against the nearest creature:

Bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Trip 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Male Human Summoner 1

Inish 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel, his own crossbow in hand, walks behind Oropher, keeping an eye out for any threats from inside the keep.

Perception for inside the keep:1d20 ⇒ 19

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel looks at Blythe. "Well, looks like I'm rowing us over." He then proceeds to get into the other boat.

Male Human Summoner 1

Sorry to hear it. Hopefully nothing too serious and everything works out. Best of luck, and happy holidays!

Male Human Summoner 1

This is what focusing chants are really for. "Good day sir. Me and my companions are interested in renting a boat. Would you be able to assist us in this?"

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel lets out a small cough to get the dock master's attnetion."Pleasant morning, Dockmaster sir. My friend and I were interested in renting out a couple rowboats for the day." If one would be big enough, I only try for one.

Diplomacy:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel follows Oropher to the docks.

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel will tag along as well if it's not too late RP wise, otherwise he'll do some shopping on his own.

Lessee, going to need to pick up some holy water, a couple strands of garlic, some wooden stakes, a silver dagger, a few pieces of chalk, hmm, what am I missing?

Male Human Summoner 1

"If it is indeed ghosts, there are options available to us, such as Holy Water. But it could also be simply overactive imaginations, or pranksters. I'd prefer to investigate abit before jumping to conclusions myself. It seems the orcs are gone at least, so I'd recommend we acquire any provisions we need and head there in the morning."

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel also proceeds to the Laughing Goblin, and accepts a drink, thanking the bartender.

Male Human Summoner 1

"The pub. Sounds like our next stop then. Though it might be more damaging to us than the keep." Sylavel smiles and glances at Dric and Blythe. Hopefully we don't lose too many of our fellows there.

Male Human Summoner 1

"I have to admit, assaulting a keep does sound more interesting than some goblin extermination, though abit more dangerous. How certain are you that these orcs have fled? It would not do us well to be brought down by arrows based on a hunch."

Male Human Summoner 1

Sense Motive:
1d20 ⇒ 11

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel does indeed follow the crowd.

Male Human Summoner 1

I took a bunch of cash myself, lol. Not relying on weapons that much wasn't too sure what to spend it on. Probably should've got a wand or something.

Not sure what to say about the sword. There's the Elven Curved Blade (a 2hander, 1d10 with a 18-20 crit), but that's about it that I know of.

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel spends the trip socializing with the others on board. The others will probably identify that he has some kind of burden, but he politetly refuses attempts to talk about it.

Male Human Summoner 1

It would seem my focusing exercises have allowed me the benefit of tackling the soup, at least. Hopefully that's not their limit. Sylavel lets out a chuckle at his own joke.

It's been awhile, being able to enjoy something as simple as overspiced soup. This definitely feels good, the first time in awhile. I haven't felt this relaxed since...

A touch of sadness appears on Sylavel's face as he stops laughing.

If you'll excuse me, I suddenly need to get some fresh air. Sylavel heads back up.

Male Human Summoner 1

Sylavel, at first not wanting to tempt fate, finally gives in.

How bad can it actually be?

Will Save:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Male Human Summoner 1

For now, it would seem dinner. Perhaps we could continue this discussion over what passes for a meal on this ship? Sylavel begins to head below deck.

Male Human Summoner 1

To the elf My meditations were as fruitful as ever. Thank you for the concern. The name's Sylavel. And yours?

To the halfing Mayhaps you would find better challenge in one of your fellow Dwarves.

Male Human Summoner 1

Focus the mind. Clear it of all thoughts. Focus on a single point and push aside all distraction. Focus the mind. Clear it of all thoughts. Focus on a single point and push aside all distraction. Focus the mind. Clear it of all thoughts. Focus on a single point and push aside all distractions.

As Sylavel's mind focused, the point in which he focused became form, of a woman's face. He quickly cleared his mind again, coming out of his focusing trance.

It's becoming harder to focus. It must be because I'm getting closer.

Sylavel returned his thoughts to the world and took in his surroundings. Judging by the sun, he had not been at it for as long as he had hoped.

His wandering gaze caught that of an elf, a warrior by his dress. He returned the elf's nod, and got up to go over and make conversation. It had been awhie since he had contact with others outside of his teacher, aside from the few interviews he had to make to get to this point. A little social activity might even help clear his head.

Well met, friend. And how are you enjoying this journey?

Male Human Summoner 1

The nightmare's had came again last night. He knew it to be a nightmare, even within it's realm, but that didn't change anything. For the nightmare had once been real, only to be relived when he slept. And once again, with one last gaze as his beloved had been taken, he awoke.

Syalavel woke from his dream, much practice giving him the strength to no longer awake screaming. Shaking off it's after-effects, he took stock of his surroundings. He quickly remembered, he was aboard a ship, returing to Phlan. He had been there once or twice in his childhood, but these were short trips. He didn't recall much of the city.

Sylavel ascended to the ship's deck. He doubted the usefulness of his skills on such a voyage, magical and mundane, but staying below decks was not comforting. He had at least learned where not to be after a few stern words from the sailors.

Anna...

Sylavel refused to allow his mind to wander. Finding a quiet spot on the deck, he sits and goes over the focusing exercises he had been taught to clear his mind. He had proven to not be very good at it, but he was determined to get them down.
