EST here i think thats like GMT -4 or something like that can post at least once a day mostly when i get home can sometimes get a post in during work but few and far between.
Hey dm would that 1000g be in addition to what we started with? ( since i had chosen the rich parents trait)
Edit: was looking at list of player/ characters and noticed neither my character nor my name were listed but says in recruitment thread that i am in. just want to make sure

I plan to be quite brutal in combat so characters may die or be crippled also I plan on making this adventure be VERY long may take you to level 18 or higher.
Cripes. Am I alone in spotting a slight dichotomy here, though? ;-)
Well, whatever the case, I'm very pleased to be in at the start, and hope things pan out nicely. I'm looking forward to it. :-D
Ooh, one more thing, I think I equipped Mel with 105gp or something, should I try to do it again with 1,000gp?

Oropher Helyan |

I initially equipped pretty low too. I spent some money, but still have like 400gp left. Any suggestions?
Also, he can use any elven weapon, so I'd like to improve on this sword, but I dont know how. It makes sense that he'd start with something elven, coming from his home. I dont see any resources for elven weapons or anything.

Sylavel Telemivor |

I took a bunch of cash myself, lol. Not relying on weapons that much wasn't too sure what to spend it on. Probably should've got a wand or something.
Not sure what to say about the sword. There's the Elven Curved Blade (a 2hander, 1d10 with a 18-20 crit), but that's about it that I know of.

Oro - I actually always hated the idea of "elven" swords, because it always felt statted as "cooler than a longsword, like elves are cooler than humans". I call it the Legolas effect. "I can walk on snow. I don't get drunk. I do everything effortlessly." Which to me always comes across as boring. No weaknesses. Always gets the cooler gear, etc.
Now that is not to say I don't like elves, just not their traditional presentation. Perhaps a weapon from Dr35d:38.
Perfectly balanced weapon (+1 bonus to AC when taking a total defense action) +100 GP cost.
Blood groove (weight reduced by 20% or .5 lb. and Hardness +2) +100 GP
Razor sharp (+1 dmg) +1,000 GP.
Anyway, whatever you do choose, it'll likely be fun. Just thought I'd offer up options. :)

Oropher Helyan |

Hah. I didnt understand anything past the bit about elves.
With that being said, I agree. Honestly, the whole idea of elves strikes me as annoying. I'm trying to play Oro as being inexperienced and sheltered, less as an aloof a-hole elf. I just wanted something cool to spend my excess money on. :)

Elves, anything you can do. They can do better

You could have, say, a MW perfectly balanced, razor sharp cold iron elven curve blade with a blood groove (just called your sword, obviously), for a cost of 1,660 GP. It's stats would be +1 to attack, 1d10+1 dmg (before STR) 18/x2, Slashing, 5.6 lbs., Hardness 12 HP 30, and it would increase your AC by one when you chose to fight in total defense.
By comparison, the curve blade would normally have dmg 1d10, 7 lbs, no bonus to defense, Hardness 10 and HP 10.
Just to give an example...
:)

FireSnap |

Greetings all Firesnap here
Gnome Cleric OF Brigh (Artifice/Fire Domains)
Firesnap was born the son of a career Militia man. At a young age, he would love to hang out with dad on the job. Tho frowned upon by his superiors, attacks against the town were far and infrequent so they let the lad hang out with his dad, who just happened to be their best siege engine expert. So dad would take his son on the inspections of towns Engines as few as they were and would point out to him the important things to look for to keep them running. Firesnap enjoyed these days with dad and took notes on things when he could, hoping to one day follow in his footsteps. Then one day when he was 11 the town was attacked by goblins and his father was killed. The clerics of Brigh, found his knowledge of siege engines amazing, so they took him in as it seemed fit for a son of a hero the town and they wanted to pick his brain for all the secrets his dad had passed on to him. Firesnap earned his name at church as he grew adept at creating fire, once setting several pews on fire accidentally. Firesnap tries to use the churches knowledge of artificng to help improve his knowledge of siege weapons. Firesnap volunteers to help to inspect the siege engines his dad loved in his spare time, and his advice is always welcome by the local militia.
