Considering that Paizo's footprint at GenCon2022 was much smaller this doesn't surprise me. I do not see this as a decision that a healthy company makes.

I just played this. It's a great concept with poor execution.

Teams aren't given enough prep time. Even when you get successes you get useless information.

If I could review it I would give it 3/5 stars. At least it's not as bad as Serpent's Ire.

This is disgusting, and disappointing. Basically, you had to have signed up two years ago to get tickets this year.

So they fired their well regarded CS manager right before GenCon. I guess Paizo is lucky that they skipped out of the live event. This is bad, as in Blizzard bad. Paizo needs to put out something before this gets out of hand. I have a few subs myself and right now my finger is on the trigger.

I'm not going to pull punches. I'm not just unhappy with this, I am disgusted with it. After months of isolation, this was supposed to be the light at the end of the tunnel. At this rate it's "Rocks fall people die."

I'm sick of the Zoom games and the VTTs. Sadly, most of the official games will be done on Roll20. It's a terrible clunky platform that you have to create custom macros to do mind numbingly stupid things like roll dice (whoever heard about that in a RPG right?). Or as of a few months ago couldn't get a grip on an easy way to import a character into the system using XML or HTML (or is HeroLab just wasting it's time with that one?)

And lastly, thanks for letting us know. Now if we're gonna skip this year we're gonna have to wrestle with them to roll it over or get a refund. Who knows? Maybe I'll go this year and maybe find a different game.

I know this isn't Paizo's fault, but someone needs to get some engineers from Hero Lab Online and Roll20 in the same room.

The idea that you can't import a character in HTML format into Roll20 is a major obstacle to the use to the platform.

Oracles sound a little strange and weak near as I can tell. It's disappointing as the Life Oracle was one of my favorite healers in PF1. I hope reading the final go around the Life Oracle can still be a premier healer, but it sure doesn't look like it.

I love Life Oracles so much I leveled two in PF1. In the current case though they just aren't worth it. They needed more spell slots like Clerics (in the case of heals) or just more slots period (like the sorcerer).

When I make a healer for PF2 it's likely going to be a Angelic Sorcerer. Life Oracle is a sad waste of time.

This actually has me a little worried. The last time I remember Paizo offering this was during the later part of the lifetime of PF1. But PF2 has only been out for one year and now this bundle is pretty much all of their PF2 product line.

Is this a sign that PF2 may not be doing as well as we hoped? I'm not asking this to disparage Paizo. With what is going on with Covid19 it's not exactly a good time for business in general.

The Oracle was probably my favorite class in PF1. Looking at the new class as presented, I just don't see the point.

There are no weapon or armor skills beyond simple weapons unless you're a battle oracle. The revelations seem to be designed to allow greater impact on the way you play as opposed to the original, but take out any kind of choice. Spell Repertoire seems to be saying "Hey we didn't want to create another damn chart."

My biggest problem are the spell slots. They are spontaneous casters that are given the same number of spells as prepared casters. Why play this class when you get much better performance out of a divine sorcerer without having to worry about revelations?

In PF1 the Life Oracle could easily meet or even surpass a healing cleric. Now it's the other way around.

Are Oracles using domains now?

I know this is gonna sound like I'm rambling on but here goes.

While I agree that running in Campaign Mode is the most ideal way to run modules, I don't agree with the rest of it.

One level of experience for three levels of content? I know this is the way AP's roll but modules are a different experience with different levels of commitment and expectations.

Putting a 3-4 tier on a module marked as an introduction is confusing.

The rules sheet also seems to be assuming that everyone starting a 3 part adventure that will all finish it. This looks like a solid 16 hours to finish (2 days) as opposed to running 3 scenarios for the same XP that would take 12. What happens if someone only makes one session? Nothing about this is shown in the rules sheet.

This feels like it was thrown together at the last minute. This is after the adventure being out for three months. This should be sent back for revision.

I am in the middle or running this right now. I'm dreading telling my friends that they are only going to get one instead of three for this.

I spent a good bit of money getting maps printed for this because SURPRISE..the flip mat is only good for part three. I had planned to run this a second time. At this rate I won't waste my time with it.

The only potential issue I see is that this may split the community even further. The last time I saw this was for Core Campaign which by my observation has fallen flat on it's face.

Will there be any preview content for this at PaizoCon? I'm still on the fence about coming this year.

Something I have noticed in all of the APs out there is that they all seem to involve some world ending evil. An evil that must be fought or the world as we know it will end. What about an AP where the stakes aren't as high. What about an AP where you are actually connected to the circumstances of your success or your failure? In the Ultimate Campaigns book there are a lot of options for relationships, creating businesses, creating kingdoms; but seldom do we see these options used except for the Kingmaker campaign. What about an AP that keeps things local? What about a campaign that makes you care about the people you are saving aside from being Xp or gold rewards?

This is just a few random thoughts. Maybe the idea of the Adventure Path needs an overhaul.

A cloth based divine caster. No, the Ecclesitheurge and the Cloistered Cleric archtypes are terrible half measures.

A gadgeteer/tinkerer engineer. Maybe something similar to the Occultist.

Unchain the fighter.

A true alternate paladin. The warpriest just moved the slider between the cleric and paladin and leaned pretty far towards the cleric.

So this has been broken for over a week and it's been almost as long since we've gotten an update. I have a scenario I would really like to report as well has Angel Gabriel who has gods knows how many.

New players aren't very likely to register their characters in the beginning. What's the point in handing out generated character numbers?

This needs to be fixed.

I'm seeing a problem here. I know that this has likely been discussed internally for months. We're seeing a lot of VO's and 5 stars gushing about this. Then there are people like me. I don't object to it but I do have some concerns. There is a condescending vibe coming off of some of these responses. Just because some of you knew this was coming and already may have discussed some of these points does not make them less valid.

Ok...this is going so be a little long and tongue in cheek but someone has to play the devil's advocate (no I never had any Cheliax characters).

-This is going to divide the community as previously mentioned. It will cause problems for smaller player communities.

-I'm sure there are a lot of the more experienced 4 and 5 stars that have played (and run) pretty much everything. I feel the same way and I've had to be really selective about what I play. It's nice that this is sort of a clean slate. There is one problem: it doesn't solve any of the replay issues over the long term. Many of the same people that have played almost everything will likely be back in the same place a couple of years from now. I have always maintained that replay needs to be opened up by a trickle, not a deluge.

-Also related to the above point: So Paizo is in business to make money. They make money by selling books. Now there is a campaign where you don't need to own anything outside the core book. This change does nothing for players who already have pretty much played everything. You're going to have your most dedicated players with little or no reason to buy anything new if they go all CORE.

-I sense one of the ideas in creating this was to slow the curve on optimization that the main campaign has. I've run my fair share of games and I've run plenty where players ROFLstomp their way through everything. It's something you just have to deal with because adversarial GMs are the suck. That being said this change will likely produce two types of CORE players 1)new people and 2) very experienced players that some may have issues with the first group for not pulling their weight (or "carrying" in MMO language...I hate it too).

-Specials: Are we going to have CORE specials or are we going to have some tables at the every going one way or the other?

-One of the cited goals was to make chronicle sheets viable again. That's nice, I'm sure I'm going to be chomping at the bit to get a Cloak of Resistance +1. Being more serious though, you're going to see a lot more emphasis on the more recent seasons. The more recent ones have better loot and access to items otherwise not available in Core. Of course, I have a feeling this void affecting the older scenarios may be getting filled by content from the upcoming Faction Cards.

-I get the idea of CORE but I find it slightly too limiting. In addition to the core rulebook this is what I would suggest:
Advanced Players Guide: This book opens up racial traits for all of the core races, basic archetypes, a few classes (I would keep the Summoner banned), and some additional items, spells and feats. This book to me always seems to be an addendum to the care rulebook that contained everything they probably had to cut (from a 500 page book).
Inner Sea World Guide: This is all the fluff you need all in one place. A few extra prestige classes and feats (Hellknights). Nothing too broken other then Dervish Dance. This book solves the language problem.
Pathfinder Society Field Guild: So we're going to have people earning prestige with pretty much nothing to spend it on. The same could almost be said about the primer. The characters are Pathfinders, right?

-If there isn't additional books added to this (at this point I would maybe rename it from CORE to BASIC) there needs to be some kind of addendum added to address at least the language issue. Otherwise, you're gonna have players at a serious disadvantage in some scenarios where you have to be able to speak other languages. I shouldn't need a damn boon to speak/read a commonly available language.

Example:
In Wonders in the Weave Part 1: The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb, if you can't read Ancient Osiriani or at least Osiriani you can't even begin to decipher the puzzle, progress stops. Comprehend Languages might be able to get around it but shouldn't be needed.

I remember a few months ago there was an interview published with Eric Mona asking him what the Paizo response to D&D 5 edition was. To sum up his answer, it seems to be the Advanced Class Guide and the Iron Gods AP. I wonder how this fits into that. It seems something has gone sideways since then.

If you only brought a character built with HeroLab, I have every right to not allow that character at my table.

Sorry, but that's BS. It doesn't matter what method you use to build. If you want to audit/verify, that's your right as a GM. You also have the right to refuse someone from referencing a resource they do not possess. I use HeroLab mainly because it makes making and organizing easier. Frankly, if you told me I couldn't play at your table because of Hero Lab, my next move would be to a VO. You don't have the right to make that decision.

At the same time I do agree that Hero Lab can be inaccurate, especially with math. You have to check the math on everything. More often than not they usually leave modifier out than include them. For some reason, Hero Lab has never been able to add up spell DCs and concentration checks correctly.

I have a 13 Life Oracle in PFS myself. My stats are at http://paizo.com/people/KaerilAdon .

Here are some of the ideas I have:

Reach Rods: The lesser for Shield Other, the regular one for Breath of Life.
Long Spear: Stand behind the tank and assist when not using spells. You can add to his AC or +hit.
Flight: If you have the money just get Wings of Flight.
Ring of Invisibility: A lot of creatures can See Invisibility at the higher level, but it is a way to keep the mooks away.
Circlet of Persuasion: Gives you a +3 to all charisma based skill checks, a must for any high cha character. Also, some GM's may allow this to apply to Concentration checks.
Ghostvision Gloves: With Channel Energy you can make a ranged touch attack on undead creatures....and roll d12s.

Also, how are you wearing Mithril Fullplate. You don't have Heavy Armor Proficiency listed?

I know I plan on dumping my charisma headband for the Phylactery as soon as I can get the money. I know that Angelic Wings aren't quite optimal, I got them for flavor more than anything.

I was running The Wardstone Patrol at a local con when I had a player die. He was at half life when his dwarven fighter (or skald, I can't remember) took a critical hit from a scythe. Rolled a natural 20 on the attack, natural 20 on the confirmation. He was dead. My first dead player. He was a local and I felt bad about it but felt there was nothing I could do.

Nearby, another local GM reaches into his notebook, pulls out a boon and gives it to the player of the fallen dwarf. The boon was given out for demoing the Beginner Box and allowed a free raise dead for a player with less than 20 fame. He had that boon for ages and thought it would likely never see use so he gave it away.

Long story short...he died, then he got better.

To me all I would want is some occasional support. The AP's are great as well as the modules. I myself would love to do Tomb of the Iron Medusa on my 13.2.

My point is with specials only. It's strange that Paizo started to support specials for two years in a row then suddenly stop. It's more than just fighting big monsters. It's about dusting off an old friend once a year for one more last adventure. Typically, the people you have playing at those levels are your most dedicated. So what's wrong with doing something for your biggest fans? It might take more time/money to do it but the expenditure seems worth it.

In regards to EoTT, I don't think it's a good metric to measure by. When I did it, my group coordinated it for 3+ months over a holiday weekend. We spent all day Saturday and Sunday at our VC's house who was running the event. I enjoyed it but there was a realization that my character's days are numbered.

I guess I'm going to have to clone that one and start over then.

Under normal circumstances I would agree. However, go to the specials and look at how many 7-11 tables there are. Look at the Seeker tables in the specials that allow it.

With Seeker level support in Race for the Runecarved Key and in Siege of the Diamond City I was hoping we could see some more Seeker support for specials. Now understand. I get that statistic. I just want to know why after the announcement of not one but two specials coming out that Paizo couldn't have put a Seeker tier in one of them? For this situation it works. It's your once a year chance to dust off your old character.

It pains me to say it, I love Pathfinder, PFS and Paizo but I have to: It comes off as laziness on the part of Paizo. They didn't want to go through the trouble of supporting Seeker level content. So according to the season 5 story we needed Seeker at Nerosyan but not at Jormundun? This doesn't pass the smell test.

Please note: I am only referencing specials only. I think there are plenty of other opportunities to play after 12. I just want to dust off my character and do something plot relevant at least once a year.

I guess the question for this is what happens to the class. This is a full ten level prestige class. Maybe it should be changed to a level 3 class. Honestly, something had to happen. I've seen the Imp familiar exploited horribly in local play. The imp companion is in some ways better than some players with the additional levels.

First. I have to say "Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible" is the worst named scenario of all time, it just doesn't live up to it.

That being said:

-Brevoy- Frankly, with the proximity to Mendev and the Kingmaker adventure path we haven't seen much. There needs to be some more support including a Campaign Setting book.

-Riddleport- I know that there are a couple of scenario's there but this place is a goldmine. Also needs a Campaign setting book.

-Alkenstar- With the new firearms rules I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner. Wardens of the Reborn Forge should be a good first step.

-Ustalav- It's what Ravenloft should have been. Instead Ravenloft was more of a place to punish players no matter what they did. They got a good Campaign Setting book (although very little crunch).

-Kyonin- Needs a Campaign Setting book as Elves of Golarion is 3.5. Also, only one scenario there as well.

If it's PFS mode I would be damn tempted to fudge the dierolls for all of the attacks. I don't like the idea of handing players a quick, easy win but I HATE the idea of this even worse.

One suggestion I would make is to look to Mesoamerican or Native American myth. One huge complaint about the new lycanthrope race is what they called them: Skinwalkers. This name is literally out of Native American myth, of a create that would kill someone then wear their skin. This example has lead to a slight disappointment in Paizo in relation to this. There was a real opportunity that was utterly wasted.

I haven't been keeping up but I do have some observations

-Make Heal a class skill, this might open the door for a coroner/forensic pathologist type of investigator or maybe even an archetype. Think Quincy.

-Poison resist/use- as said above seems to be a tacked on vestigial organ

-In some ways the trapfinding and alchemy use remind me of the Crypy Breaker alchemist.

-Put the investigator talents on the even levels. Currently you have them getting a talent and a feat at odd levels, spread it out a bit.

-Inspiration- An idea for something to add, two uses of the ability to apply the bonus to someone else. Also, inspiration sounds like a bard ability, maybe instead call it Insight.

Merging the rogue with the alchemist was likely a bad idea for this theme. A better mix would be to borrow some abilities and ideas from the inquisitor.

Some inquisitor transplant ideas:

Discern Lies- I didn't see any abilities in the writeup helping with questioning and interrogation, which is the staple of a good detective.

Track- Kinda seems like a no-brainer

Stern Gaze- good talent candidate

Exploit weakness- either something to tack on or replace sneak attack with

Also there is the Detective archetype for Bards

Arcane insight- seems to fit or might be good for an archetype
Careful Teamwork- something to maybe tack onto Inspiration

I'm thinking of taking the Mysterious Stranger and Divine Hunter Archetypes. I like the Mysterious Stranger for reducing MAD and relying on just Charisma but hate losing the AC bonus. I decided for PFS I wanted to make the ultimate healer. I also wanted a character that I would like roleplaying as well. It's working so far. I literally have people cheer at local games when I show up with this character. I play her as a pacifist except in regards to undead or evil outsiders who she will use spells on and channel to harm them. When she isn't healing she's buffing.

I just hit 7th level and I'm thinking about what I'll be doing further down the road. I'm thinking of Quick Channel for burst healing/damage. I'm also thinking of Energy Body for the revelation, not just for the free heal but also that it makes you immune to a lot of things...just not for a long time.

For 9th and 11th level feats I'm thinking of going in two directions. Going the logical route I'm thinking Toughness and Extra Channel. This character puts every preferred class bonus into channel energy and channels at levelx1.5. Also she uses Life Link on the whole party...more HP the better.

The other direction is more for fun/RP. I'm thinking of getting Angelic Blood (which is a terrible feat) at 9th so I can get Angel Wings at 11th level. It would give me the ability to fly around the battlefield and keep me out of range of a lot of melee. I'll admit the more I think about this character with wings the better I like it.

Any general advice I could get would be appreciated. Thanks.
