I think this really is up to you and the GM. I would say 1 time use, of 100 resource pool would make sense, and then either you would have to contribute needed items/services to build pool back up.

New locations would need successful skill roles to connect to the black market, plus some form of bartering to gain access to resources.

1 time use seems very weak for a feat.

looking for suggestions for equipment, esoteric magic


Hi everyone,

looking at creating an 10th level character, and I was wondering if wizard 5/cyphermage 1/savant 4 would be worthwhile, just to pick up the swift scrivener from cpyhermage 1, for the broadest and most worthwhile spell list.

feats look like cypher magic at 1, magic aptitude at 3, possibly craft wand, or wondrous item at 5,

race would be samarasan, 13,15,13,20,17,15 at first level with mysitc past life.

possibly spell penetration/greater spell penetration for level 7/9
conjuration/teleportation (banning divination and enchantment)

waffling on spell choices and would take equipment suggestion.

this would be for a skull and shackles-based campaign with a witch, rogue/shadowdancer, fighter (glaive-user)

Also if people want to throw out equipment ideas to help fight/explore underwater as it's cropping up some in skulls and shackles.


Hello,

I am looking for help in building and equipping two characters.

1) Level 9 reach cleric : thinking travel and nobility domain. If not nobility, must take leadership at level 7 or 9

2) Level 7 zen archer monk

Generally any pathfinder material is good to use, no 3.5

Level 9 gets standard amount book suggests for level 9, the cohort gets 20,000.

Skulls and shackles campaign. with a rogue/shadowdancer and a witch

Assume at least 25 point buy minimum.

Also you could have small incidents start to happen, mysterious people are inquiring about them. For example, at a new inn the innkeep seems to recognize the half drow, or a message appears under the door in the morning.

If they have plans to go someplace, but change their minds for some reason, have an incident happen that they hear about.

Looking at this point at building a switch-hitting type character, to fill front line when needed and archery otherwise, or a front-liner with good ranged options.

Oleg grumbles, but brings out some wooden stakes, ropes, and even a net, as a group you successfully rig to tangle up a likely spot, where the bandits may likely stand to grab trade goods.

The weather for the next three days should be highs in the low 70s with partly cloudy skies, calm winds, and lows in the 40s (Farenheit).

As predicted the bandits (6 total) ride up and into the fort just after sunrise, two go straight to the trade goods and start loading packs, three head to a table that Svetlana had laid food out upon, and the leader gets off his horse and calls to Oleg, "Not as much as last month, better not be holding out on us Oleg!"

Gunther, you just manage to hit a bandit, the one already tagged by the sling, who stumbles and falls to the ground.

Eamon, you miss but your shot startles the bandit on the horse which throws his rider and trots off.

I think for now, i will go with not confirming, a roll of 1 just plain misses. if you want to describe what happens thats great, but nothing as extreme as dropping your weapon, tripping, etc will be required.

Now as for NPCs, i probably will go with something harsher when they fumble in some cases, but that's just fun.

i may not get a chance to post tomorrow just fyi

The bandit facing Sir Eamon, looks around, and seems to come to an decision, as he races back to the horses, mounts and urges it towards the gates.

We have both doors fully open, as they have threatened to burn the gates if they are closed and then us.


As Svetlana, eventually answers when the conversation pauses enough. The bandits ride right in, load the trade goods and leave as soon as possible. We think their camp must be about a full days travel. The leader appeared to be the lady with the two hatchets, the cloaked man with the bow appeared to be the second in command, and has been in charge the last two visits. We tend to stand by the door to our house, if you start fighting tomorrow, we'll go inside and lock the door.

The stable currently has one horse, but doesn't seem to mind visitors.

Two bandits move towards Gunther attacking with shortswords. One charges toward Sir Eamon, and the apparent leader fires a shot at Rory.
Gunther's shot drops the bandit that resisted the sleep spell. One of the other shouts as a sling stone hits him.

I thought i miscounted bandits for a second, and removed one attack on gunther, regardless, you were hit once. Eamon when you make your next post, resolve your shot (presumably at the one which is moving towards you) and put in your next action. Otherwise everyone should be posting for round 2.

We think their camp is about a days travel as they arrive so early and quickly leave. They should arrive tomorrow.


Svetlana explains how three months ago that they were visited by a group of a dozen bandits led by an especially cruel woman (she almost amputated Oleg's hand) wielding hand axes, and a cloaked man with a bow. They demanded all the furs and goods the trappers and hunters have brought. They have come twice more, although it has been just the cloaked man and 5 others, within an hour of sunrise.


Oleg starts out, "Well, including a bed and breakfast in the morning, the charge is five sil..." he abruptly stops as his wife interrupts with a sharp, "Oleg Leveton! We discussed this, if these people are here to deal with the bandits, the least we can do is give them free room and board." Oleg starts to speak a few times, but a sharp look from Svetlana makes him subside into silence. Svetlana turns back towards the table, and says, " if you are able to take care of the bandits, we will be ever so grateful, and you can count on free room and board here, whenever you wish."

So two of the bandits loading supplies slump to the dirt, the third starts to also, but just blinks hard and starts to draw his weapon. One of the pack horses lays out for a snooze also.
OOC: please roll initiative, the bandits are completely surprised and will act after everyone above a 10 the first round.


ok, i am rethinking based on all the comments, i will have a alternative suggestion. i will post later tonight or tomorrow in gameplay.

my alternatives are going to nerf down the breath weapon, and probably realign half-dragon to dragonborn racials or close to it.

I also think you should probably stick to a great axe or sword, having the capability to literally kill every other char in one attack does seem unbalanced.


There are also some posters which you should look at later, but all to soon, Oleg is bursting in the door saying that the bandits will be here very soon.

OOC: please describe where you are, and if you will act during the suprise round, and if so what you will be doing.

If you are outside of the buildings, please roll stealth, although you can take 10, and even assist each other.


i guess i will give a tentative ok.


Oleg nods in agreement and outlines his actions. (basically he will stand near the his house as normal. as soon as a party member challenges the bandits or starts casting a spell, etc, he will go inside and bar the door.)

He shows you into the building to the east of the gate, which is made up like a bunkhouse, there are some curtains between beds for minimal privacy.


my theory is that azure, is actually a computer designed by paizo and let loose to playtest different character classes for them.

I think the feat (gives powerful build, yes?) + fullblade option would make you a bit overwhelming. In addition, the base template breath weapon, as i recall would be an extremely powerful option, even at 3rd level.

Otherwise, I agree that spreading the templates benefits over several levels would be better for game balance.

Other members if you have suggestions or opinions please chime in.

The lady, Svetlana, has been setting out some platters of food, and Oleg is reluctantly setting down two tankards, one appears to be ale, and the other water.

The group has been gathered and granted a charter (you each have a copy), stating the following,

Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than 36 miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg's Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior that is encountered. Punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So Witnessed on this 24th day of Talistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Aoleski Surtova, current regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

As the group draws closer to the gate, you are seen by a woman, who leaves off what she was doing and comes forward to welcome you.

"Welcome to Oleg's Trading Post, please have a seat," she gestures towards a set of tables with a pitcher and some cups, " let me get you something to eat." "Oleg," she says in a much louder voice, we have visitors."

You see a middle-aged man climbing down from the roof of a nearby building, from the tools, you'd guess some repairs were underway.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," he states, "whaddya want?"

OOC: You may or may not know something about Oleg or the stolen lands in general, feel free to make relevant sense motives, knowledges if you desire.

rest assured, the module does get a lot more sand-boxy, this just sets up a few things you can explore later also.

hopefully that works, Oleg's is laid out in an organized manner, surrounded by a solid palisade, there's one 30 foot wide gate that you entered, 4 buildings around a central square. You also note, 20 foot watchtowers are each corner of the fort with what look like a catapult, the nearest appears run down and nonworking.

Ok updated my profile Varash Ironskull, answered the big 5 with the sorcerer in mind.

Going back to the jungle to explore my heritage and growing powers.

2. At which port did you board or are you a stowaway?
I was able to pay my way on board in Chelliax, after several years of repairing items (mending spell) and one lucky night gambling (yay bluff! :) )

3. What will your character contribute to the group?
My character will contribute arcane awesomeness, some relevant knowledge/skills and a team player attitude

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
stay straight sorcerer, i want to try out the bloodline powers.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
story-wise, my character firmly believes there is something in the jungles that will help him further understand his heritage. He knows he is different, and would like to learn and control what is happening.

ok forgot equipment.
backpack, flint and steel, bedroll, 20 bolts, 2 waterskins, hammock, dagger, 10 rations, canvas (for overhead cover) map maker's kit, compass

That should be under the average starting of 70gp, i'll most of the rest was spent buying passage, leaving me with 5gp.


Ok, I have been thinking, rereading the players information, and have come up with the following option, verdant (from APG) sorceror.

As an half-orc, some of my ancestors were originally from Sargava, and family legend says, some may have been powerful druids, or connected to the power of nature in some way. As a verdant sorcerer I have long felt drawn by tales have my ancestral home in Sargava, and have finally earned enough to buy my passage on the Jenivere.

Trait: Mwangi Scholar, Child of Nature (survival class skill).

what are people using for character sheets, is there any site recomended?

stats will be str 10. dex 10. con 12 int 14 wis 10 cha 16
with +2 in charisma, i believe that's legit for 20 point buy?

if people have other suggestions let me know


ok, here's my current thoughts, hadozee (from stormwrack, +2 dex, -2 cha) among other things.

wizard of the water school at least to start.

As a hazodee, I have been on or around ships my whole life, my dream is to become wealthy enough from voyages, to be the majority owner, or captain of my own ship. Given my background and knowledge I am a minor officer, ship's mate perhaps.

2. At which port did you board or are you a stowaway?

I boarded at a Chelish port city, my previous ship captain having fallen into a bit of legal trouble, with the previous ship owners sons fighting each other in court over proper ownership.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

My character will contribute boundless optimism, general know-how, and arcane knowledge.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

My plans are to stay straight wizard for several levels, if i go into a prestige class it may be loremaster.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

story-wise, my character is interested in making contacts, and money, towards setting himself up as a merchant captain.
