How am I supposed to test a system without fighting The Tarrasque?

So what damage will an oversized/large/whatever greataxe do? And will small characters be able to use the same oversized weapons as medium characters with the giant totem?

That's great and all, but where's my badass, hooked hammer wielding martial gnome???

If weapon damage is the same for small vs medium do they still use different weapons? Or will a gnome be able to use the same greatsword as the halforc without penalty?

Never mind me then.

Bracers of armor can have shadow

Also people seem to be assuming that everything core is generally allowed, especially for pfs, which isn't the case (leadership is core, never talked to anyone that allowed it)

All I want for the buy system is to maintain the ability to dump stats. Everything else about how it works is more or less irrelevant to me.

I just had a worse thought than the obliteration of all knowledge on Golarian. Half-goblins.

What if the whole "good guy goblin" thing is Paizo's way of explaining the Gap in Starfinder lore? Hear me out, the whole thing is part of the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Goblin)'s plan to destroy all knowledge and writing on Golarian. Obviously that's a big task, and one that would be borderline impossible with a direct approach. So instead, he decided to brainwash goblins into sleeper agents, to infiltrate the dirty readers society, get in their good graces, start working in their libraries. All building up to the grand moment he activates the agents to destroy EVERYTHING!

What about unlimited replay, but locked behind some completion standard say once you've played/run every 1e scenario? Or (stealing a CoD term) "prestige" once you hit that threshold, starting over allowing one new play for each (basically like a new character number but you keep your star

Wait, they aren't to track TPKs? That explains why I only have 2.

I'm guessing that there are no weapons that start with multiple dice

How will that work with size differences? Are you saying a greater the size of a house should do the same damage as one made for a gnome?

So with power attack if you are using a weapon with multiple damage dice (say a greatsword) is it still just 1 extra die?

2/5

I disagree with just about everything you just said Bob.

So you would just remove the option for people to understand that they are doing things that don't fit in with the campaign? Because other than expending resources that you could have used to better your character, that's what atonements are: opportunities for a player to understand what kind of campaign is being run and how they can fit in it. And it still doesn't give anyone a visible line not to cross. Reminders are important, and you don't address that, at least in a manner I find satisfactory.

I disagree with the idea that occasional mild evil act don't fit in the campaign. To clarify my stance, I don't think anything that currently is the level of alignment infraction that isn't enough to directly remove a character from the campaign is enough to warrant anything (unless the actions are excessive in number, have nothing to do with the adventure at hand, or are to provoke another player.) Also the atonement is at worst a minor inconvenience.

Quote:
Yes, people will behave like jerks no matter what the piece of paper says or what I might say, and people will still get banned for behavior that isn't acceptable in our society, but that doesn't mean I need to provide them with a vehicle for their shenanigans. I mean, I can still run over people drunk, but if I only have a bicycle, it becomes more difficult for me to do harm. And that's what I believe we are trying to accomplish, make it difficult for someone to engage in the behavior, or make the endeavor so blatant that we can nip it in the bud.

Like I said, by that logic you might as well ban all alignments other than NG. It's like saying that because someone might drive drunk we should ban all cars.

Quote:
I can understand that you might be frustrated with the lack of character options this can lead to, but if PF2 ends up with the same spread of options as PF1, I think you have plenty of other options to make up for your loss.

I realize I am by no mean short of character options (I have at least 20 ideas that I want to do, a quarter of which I might get to before PF2.)

Quote:
With that said, I'm happy to read that you are capable of roleplaying characters who toe that line. But just because you can do it does not mean everyone else can, and you are looking to enable those options not just for you, but for people who may cause a lot of harm because they aren't capable of operating with that much freedom.

This is why I think removing/loosing alignment restrictions is a good compromise.

2/5

Quote:
And finally, if we keep the same restrictions, how is that "roleplaying freedom" that was pushed as the main reason behind allowing LE going to even work? You want to roleplay evil but you aren't allowed to roleplay evil because of the restrictions. At that point, one would just be a gelded, edgier version of LN.

A) I'm more interested in the character options locked by alignment personally.

B) I can and do roleplay borderline evil characters, they just know that they have to behave themselves to some degree because Zarta or Gureil, or Torch told them to.

2/5

Quote:
Furthermore, if we keep the complete restriction on evil acts that we have, how do we tell someone that they are retired? How do we tell them they need an atonement? Right now the limit is "if you shift to an evil alignment, you atone or you are done". How does that even begin to work with evil alignments allowed?

"The Decimverate would like a word with you" and they're never seen again. I hate the atone or die rule, you're either bad enough that you need to be removed or your just another agent.

Quote:
people still being given a license to behave like jerks.

People are going to be jerks without an E on their character sheet, this argument does nothing for me, and the "just playing my character" argument could apply to every alignment other then maybe NG

My phone is about to die, but I will respond to the last point later.

2/5

I don't see why LE and NE couldn't be allowed with the current rule about evil acts (excluding spells with the evil descriptor if that currently counts, I can't remember)

@Neriathale

Unbaning evil alignments does not necessitate unbanning grossly evil actions.

What PFS-appropriate character concepts do you want to play and can’t?

Assassin (Red Mantis and normal), Serial Killer vigilante (named Molson Caldris), Antipaladin, Exalted of Norgerber come to mind. I would also be fine with removing the alignment restriction, especially on assassin.

Zealot vigilante

Phantom thief rogue

One of the charisma based monk preferably nornkith

Urban barbarian/bloodrager

Eclesiastitheruge cleric

Was that ever not the solution?

Based on how quinggon monk stacks I would think it's fine.

2/5

I would lean towards 3, with 1 or 2 every monk on golarian would have a sapping amulet of mighty fist.

Also twf penalties potentially.

2/5

I think a folding metal shield could turn into a metal tower shield.

2/5

A huge light shield would only be 1d6 (that's what bashing makes a medium light shield effectively), bashing would bump it to 1d10. But if the effective size of the weapon mattered to warpriest's sacred weapon...

2/5

But think of how fun it would be to walk around with a barn door for a weapon!

2/5

Add an enlarge person effect and your shield functions as a size that does not exist in pathfinder for extra fun!

2/5

If you just stick with a medium sized shield it's not too crazy, but a huge light shield is a 2 handed weapon for a medium creature, add bashing it counts as colossal. That said I have no idea if inappropriate weapon size rules apply in any way to shields.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here played a game where they had to re-equip their eidolon every time it was summoned

I played my summoned from level 1 to 12 with that understanding. Granted 98% of the time she started the scenario summoned and stayed that way the entire time.

Assuming it works the same as warpriest damage bump it wouldn't stack. The brawler damage boost is based on the pc, not the weapon. Same with wielding a large weapon, you'd still be a medium brawler, and get the medium brawler damage.

Say you had a cold iron and an adamantine great sword to vary depending on target.

Hillis in your opinion could you be holding a greatsword in each hand with Jotungrip?

I'll give you there's some grey on what is included in "and the like" but how is thunder and fang any different than a bastard sword?

Your defense would suffer a lot and the classes are built off of using Dex

Not really, your primary defense (parry) works the same str or dex. (idk if you could parry an enemy 5ft away in reach, id guess no, another issue with the feat, but that's a problem dex has the same as str). Also if you go str you can dip into fighter or paladin and use heavy armor, all you'd lose is nimble.

Edit: they also can't use dodging panache in heavy armor

Waking Rune, hard mode to retire my summoner (one way or another)

2/5

Also just to add my 2cp if advanced firearms ever become readily available I'm quitting the campaign.

2/5

No, but neither are bows, crossbows, daggers, swords, spells or anything else. All of them have flaws, and early firearms flaws aren't particularly worse then anything else ffor downsides, and are particularly better than some for upsides.

Every response I receive is just another argument that my opinion based on facts, experience, and theory is just wrong.

The thing is it about a dozen people telling you there experience contradicts you opinion, not just one.

Edit: theres also nothing stopping a gunslinger from using a bow other than a s#*+ty strength score for the rare scenario you are 100ft+ from your target

You are basically saying "I like Fallout, but I don't like Zelda. Why isn't Zelda more like Fallout?" instead of finding more games like Fallout that you would enjoy.

There are plenty of ways to find games that you would enjoy, just go talk to your pfs organizers, people at the shop(s) they play at, groups online etc. There are plenty of people who like what you like, just go find them and let us enjoy our Zelda :)

Faru slings his staff over his back and clambers up the wall along side Egg

Hey redelia, I have a trait that lets me add my wisdom to init once per day. Can I just use that on the boss fight, or is that too meta gamey?

I have a climb speed so can I just monkey my way up?

Hey all, I've been looking to try out pbp. I've played quite a bit of pfs, but circumstances have changed that I think pbp might be better for a while. I'd like to get into an evergreen to try it out, if anyone has a spot open for me.
