Hari Vash is a archaeologist hailing from Absalom. Originally a Pathfinder, she left the organization as soon as she heard of the lottery, having always been fascinated with Ancient Osiria. She is confident and a bit reckless, but she has a thirst for knowledge and a love for the thrill of adventure. She is tall at 5'10" with long black hair and tanned skin. At her side is her trusty whip and her hardy buckler, her preferred weapons, but in close quarters she will resort to using her shortsword. She wears loose fitting clothing befitting the hot climate of Osiria and a wide brimmed hat. Her role is decidedly skilled. However, in a fight she is quite capable of using her whip to trip and disarm foes. Her magic is focused/ will be focused on survival and skills over the bardic enchantment magic. ![]()
![]() This sounds interesting. I have a few concepts, but I don't want to sit here and stat them out quite yet. Plus, it would probably better to get some insight from the players and you as to what you want in the game. My first character concept is a shiftless slacker. A little older than the rest (24-26?), he been in college for a long time, supporting himself with funds from his rich parents. According to the university, he has been in no less than 6 different colleges, ranging from Art to Engineering and twice that many majors. As such, he has picked up many random bits of knowledge and skills. He is the epitome of the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none". Which is fitting, as his name is Jack. He'd be a human bard or a rogue. The second is, well, me. A student that shopped around a lot with majors, but was always a science major of some sort. Ended up with 4 minors and a major and a 3/4ths (in biology and computer science). Spends way too much time reading and playing games, whether video or tabletop. As such, his level in commoner will give him a wide base of knowledge skills and his level would be a beastmorph alchemist (as in real life I am getting my PhD in genetics). The third is an engineer. A bit odd, he is intelligent and dexterous, always building devices to do otherwise mundane tasks. He would be a rogue, but with one caveat. With GM's permission, I'd like to replace sneak attack with bombs, as per the alchemist feature, and allow bomb related discoveries as talents. His race would be gnome. ![]()

![]() Well I think there is a mix of the two options here: While keeping to the same name and concept, there can be a lot of leeway in how a new player can rebuild the character. Marrovak could easily be a ranger, druid, shaman, or hunter and Krag could easily be thought of as a warpriest, cleric, or fighter without removing the character too much from the source material. History can be retooled a bit as well, as long as they keep to the "core" of the character. It may make it more palatable to new players coming in. ![]()

Zane was is a Korvosan Native. Growing up poor, he has trained as a bard and street performer to earn money, as well as pick a few pockets here and there. He is a cad and a rogue, always getting himself in trouble, survivng by quick wits and natural charm. But he has a generally good heart and has a strong loyalty to his family and friends. He lives in the Shingles currently, but plays in Midland. Recently, his little brother has run off after an argument, and he hears that Lamm may have him, using him to pick pockets, a skill Zane taught him. Zane has a think head of black hair, olive skill, hazel eyes, and a thin goatee. As such, he bears some tribal markings and scarification on his body, but out of the experience, he gained training with orc weapons and tactics. His wife on the other hand is more friendly to others and far more willing to be diplomatic. They met during university, but unlike her partner, she isn't suited for treking throughout the wilderness. Instead, she prefers to study the specimens and artifacts he brings back and to set up trade deals, arrange for funding, or organize research trips. The pair work well together both in research and as husband and wife, both because they complement each other. Her hair is long, black and silky and she is only average of height, dwarfed next to her husband. She prefers to wear finer clothes and encourages her husband to do the same, though he resists. She is of Tien and elven descent, while Garrak is Ulfen and orc. As for the purpose of the expedition, maybe it is funded by a group wealthy patrons with varying interests to explore the land and simply establish a colony. With the amount of money needed to set up and support a colony so far away, it was necessary to band together multiple patrons, each with their own goals. Members of the expedition were placed by each patron. This way everybody can have their own reasons for coming in and it could prove interesting later when certain factions emerge. Also, it may be better to have the party be the second wave, the first having scouted the immediate and set up a small settlement, but are relieved by our party. It makes a little more sense than the ship dropping us off in completely unexplored territory. ![]()

[spoiler=H Orc Wizard/Warrior or Alchemist/Expert, depending ] Garrak Tharn is a budding naturalist coming to the new world to study the fauna and flora of the new, strange place on the behalf of his University. He thinks the new colony should be placed somewhere with easy access to the ocean and a river, or somewhere with a natural port so supplies can come in and specimens and journals can go out easily. Jungle locals preferred, but he can do his work wherever there is life. He comes in with his research partner and wife, a female half elf expert in knowledges and crafts named Sorala Tharn. He stands tall and well muscled, dressed in the clothes of an explorer. His hair is blonde, worn long and tied back. He sports a thick beard and overly large teeth. He is well mannered and proper, but fights like an orc. He is largely motivated by exploration and the acquisition of new knowledge. [/spoiler ![]()

![]() I was actually at Megacon this weekend on Orlando, FL. Had a blast. So it went ok I guess. It looks like we'll probably all be mythic as soon as the party realizes the change in Vigar and the nature of the Oath. The question is will any of us really notice the change immediately. Vigar had the vision, of course, but there wasn't any indication from Vigar's point of view of a change in power. And of course the remainder of the characters don't even know about the vision. We as players know the mechanics of our choices, but I'd think our characters would be surprised at the new and strange abilities, depending on how beyond normal they are. Speaking of, Vigar, have you chosen your intitial abilities yet? As for me, I am going with Knowledgable Guardian with the Dual Path Feat with the Guardian as the primary and Champion as the secondary, taking the Absorb Blow and Sudden Strike abilities. |
