Romboldt raises and brow curiously at the identification of the ring. Indeed it seemed this place could be worth the effort afterall, if this was a mere taste of what could come. At Garroths proposal the wolf chuckles and nods: "Sounds fair enough to me. I call first dibs on archery equipment though." He grins before tapping his maw with a finger ponderously. "Hmm... so.. eeny meeny miny... this one?" He points to the door nearest the one they just came from, offering a shrug at the obviously random pick.

I didn't realize I couldn't use that thing in melee range. D: Is it possible to retroactively take a 5ft step back? I was kinda planning to in the first place but decided against leaving Garroth solo in the front. o.o

Romboldt was apparently too busy looking about to realize the brutal fate of the chest, his jaw dropping and the wolf face-palming once he realizes. He woefully assesses the contents with the others, his eyes narrowing an annoyance at the broken arrows. Think before you smash next time? He sighs, retrieving one of the sturdier looking broken arrows to keep.

Never know when a +1 magical improvised 'dagger' might come in handy. :P

Are you taking some flavor of cover into consideration for the gobbos shooting up at us? They're shooting up at a pretty hefty angle, I would think that at least half of our bodies are blocked by the ledge.

Romboldt manages to avoid two of the arrows fired at him, but takes a hit to his shoulder that causes him to growl. "Hey! We can't pick off the big one while taking a hail of arrows up here! Somebody put him down or we're going to have a long fight ahead of us!" He nocks another arrow, giving himself just enough clearance at the edge to fire a shot at the nearest goblin with his bow. The bonus to higher ground is applicable to melee, not ranged, and it's a +1 bonus. With that said I would think that attacking from higher ground for ranged would constitute an increased range increment..? Not too sure about that part.

Last thing I want is a 30-odd screaming greenskins wandering in on us at a bad time." He cautiously moves to follow the half-orc and climb up as well. A perch for the man with a bow was pretty ideal, really.
