Join the Caravan, see Golarian! Destiny knocks at your door beckoning you to heed the call, but beware sometimes the road less traveled is that way for a reason.

I have recently picked up a Jade Regent campaign that has lost its DM towards the end of book 1. We are looking to round out the party with a fifth member. The current situation they are in is shown in the spoiler.

Contains some spoilers for part of book 1. Read only if your applying or if you are innately curious:
The party has just reached the outskirts of Brinewall, an abandoned castle with an abandoned town far to the north of Varisia. They are there to learn the supposed Kaijitsu Legacy, a secret hidden from Ameiko found in a old wakizashi that belonged to her grandfathers bodyguard. She has however fallen magically Ill upon their arrival to Brinewall and they must figure out what is causing it.

The party consists of a
- Ninja 2/ Samurai 1 (Skills, melee based, does not have rogue trap finding)
- Cleric of Sarerae 3 (divine magic, Healing, some skills)
- Unchained monk 3 (Melee bruiser)
- Arcanist 2 / Sorcerer 1 (int based Arcane caster, knowledge skills)

The build specifics are as follows:
- 3rd level
- 20 point buy
- 3 traits with 1 being campaign specific, no drawbacks.
- Background skills are in effect
- max HP at first, with half or higher roll after first.
- 3k gold with half of it at most spent on crafting.
- Paizo material only, all classes allowed except for chained summoner.
- all races allowed though stranger ones will revive some scrutiny
- No cheese please, this will be a rp heavy game.

Backgrounds are encouraged to have elements from Tian Xia, though are not required to. They must however explain how you know the NPC’s (see players guide), why you joined the trip, and what you have been doing during the course of the trip.

Recruitment will go till the 17th and looking to get things going the same day or 18th. I will be away from the 9th to the 13th, the players will be able to answer some questions. If they are unable when I get back I can answer questions, and if needed extensions can be given or dates pushed back.

This will be the new campaign thread. I will link for any references or notes Needed. I’ll get to work having a sheet for loot and something set up for maps. I’m thinking of using google drive or some other aspect of it.

I’ll start work preparing and hopefully next weekend I can have everything ready to kick things off for Brinewall. In the meantime feel free to make any edits to your characters builds, (no 3rd party please) and spend the allotted 2.5k of extra gold you all are given however you wish. Please try to get headings organized as well.

While I am away till next Wednesday please answer questions as best you can in the recruitment thread. You also will be the main voices for what type of character you pick up as your 5th. Thanks again for letting me join you guys and I’m excited to run this for you all!

I recreated the discussion thread, for some reason it did not work at all.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

After some time away from the boards, I’ve been looking to jump in some games and after some looking through my library found something I’d like to run without the commitment for years upon years so soon back.

I will be running The Dragon’s Demand. A fun classic module just long enough to get to some fun stuff. If it’s completed and we have a really good consistent core group then maybe we can continue with another printed book, or homebrew. But that’s something far beyond and not the scope of this recruitment.

For the recruitment I’ll be taking 4 people.
- Level 1 with a point buy of 15, with average starting wealth.
- Unchained classes where they apply, no occult classes since I’m am less familiar with them.
- Core races with alternate racial traits allowed.
- Max hp for first level, with +1 hp, + 1 skill point and favored class bonus.
- You get 2 traits and may take a drawback, but expect to roleplay it.

For backgrounds you may be as wild or as simple as you’d like. All that’s needed is that you all have the following thing. “You are not native to the town of Belhaim in northern Andorran, and you signed on to a Caravan owned by one Silas Gribb that has recently come to town. Upon arrival it’s been seized and he’s been arrested for smuggling.” The reason for why you came along and the purpose is yours to make up.

I will end recruitment the 29th of October, and will hope to have the decision of players made by the 1st of Nov hopefully starting play that same day if possible. For expectations I’d like to do a post a day with weekends optional, though more posts are fine and I’ll strive to accommodate them.

Part 1, A Journey Begins

The kingdom of Atropas has conquered the stolen lands. King Gertrad has beaten back enemies time and time again, from the depths of earth, to the neighbors around him, and even to the first world. Yet as his conquests mount and his legend grows, his lust for greater glories and conquests burns hotter. Even now as an air of peace begins to settle in for the first time in ages, rumors of war work their way through the kingdom. The territory know as the stolen land may be conquered but it is not tamed. There are only three real cities, and a handful of small towns. Large swaths of land from the nearly coined Blood Marches, to the hills nest the Cursed town of Varnhold are untamed and unexplored. Rich nobleman and merchants send expeditions to explore and tame these lands hoping to gain fame, fortune, and power. Those looking for coin welcome the hard work these soft men and women offer. Our story starts out in the search of those that will take on these daring tasks, in a place where everyone goes to start these expeditions, The Wench’s Final Rest.

The Rest as it’s often called is a tavern in a old barrow just outside of the copilot of Atropas. The main room is a long 100 foot by 30 foot room with smooth stone walls and floors with a tall arched ceiling. Tables are scattered haphazardly in the room, with two bar counters sitting in the middle of the room opposite of each other guarding the entrance to two storage rooms They are made of the sarcophagi that sat on the elevated pedestal of the room. It is here that several well dressed men and women sit with armed guards next to them. They will say their plans and then from those that volunteer they will choose who will work for them. The room is noisy and crowded with people as it is late and the best jobs are always saved for last.

Where are you and what are you doing as you wait for these expeditions to be announced on this late night?

Those that are selected please dot in.

The Stolen Lands have been conquered! The king and his council have defeated any and every foe that has stood to face them, and conquered all those that opposed him. The cries for more conquest grow louder by the day, people cry out for an empire, an empire of the rivers. With the recent conquests and future conquests the focus of the king and council, exploration of conquered territories have taken a backseat. Vast swathes of untamed land lay ripe with untold riches, forgotten monsters, and ancient secrets. Are you clever, strong, quick, or stupid enough to go out into this untamed wild and become a hero?

Campaign Information:

As you probably read the campaign will take place in the Riverlands, Mostly in the Stolen Lands. There will be spoilers for the Kingmaker AP, though knowledge of the events that happen in the AP is not a requirement to apply. It will start with the arrival of the party in Thornkeep, then moving onto various areas in the the riverlands, along with homebrew areas. The system will be pf1 and I plan on taking on a party of 4, though possibly larger. I expect atleast a post a day on the weekdays, while on the weekend posts are more optional though I am more than willing to accommodate lots of posts. If there are any of things That come up please let me know we can work together, but i will not wait on one person for weeks because of someone's silence.

Applications:

Please submit a post with your characters name, statblock, background, along with the reason for your character coming to the stolen lands new kingdom. A completed alias is not required though it is appreciated. Once selected alias's will be made and backgrounds ironed out.

Character Creation:

-1st level max wealth per class
-2 traits with possible third with drawback, though drawbacks and traits will be roleplayed
-All classes allowed except for non Bolt Ace Gunslingers, psionic/occult classes
-Unchained classes were it applies
-Background skills
-Evil alignment is allowed though must have a good reason to remain loyal to party
-20 pt buy with max of 18 and min of 8 before racial modifiers
-No 3pp material
-Elephant in the room feat tax, Feat tax link

Information about me:

I have been playing pathfinder for close to 5 years, and I recently go on the forums within the last 6 months. This will be my first time DM'ing on the boards and being a technology averse person things will be a little rough. But if you're willing to work with me I will return the favor with maximum effort. I enjoy both the roleplay and combat aspects of the game, and will try to not favor either aspect, though I am willing to work with the party to ensure the game is as much fun as possible.

You have two weeks to answer the call. (August 1st EST, the recruitment will close)

So I will be DM’ing Kingmaker for my IRL group sometime in the future after we finish the current campaign and while reading all the cool things and areas of kingmaker I thought, it’s a shame they won’t get to explore and do all the side quests as they go on this.

This is where my idea starts, playing as adventures in this kingdom you’d be exploring some of the area of this now massive empire that’s barely been explored due to all the high level problems that require the attention of everyone else

CAUTION though spoilers for kingmaker will pop up as I will cherry pick some of the interesting parts areas of the campaign that I think will get looked over as the empire would expand. This along with several homebrew places and possibly thornkeep will consist of the adventure, which will go for as long as everyone is interested in it.

If there is enough interest I’ll open up a recruitment thread to start the process!
