It's unlikely that they'll make a subscription line solely for books that are updates of older books, but you can get the same effect by just subscribing before core remaster, then cancelling after the fourth comes out.

Gotta admit I'm a bit apprehensive about an ARPG for this- but if there's any AP that would work for that genre, Abomination Vaults is definitely the one.

So anytime I see a change in any system I play, I usually have the reaction of either "Oh yeah, that's been an issue for a while, glad they finally got around to it" or "Why did they spend time and effort changing that? What that really a priority?" For me, the soul cage change was more of the latter. It does provide some clarity in the differences between items but I can think of a dozen changes or clarifications that would make more creative and mechanical sense.

... exactly how much time and effort do you think is spent on "we're going to call them soul cages instead of phylacteries going forward"? Because it ain't much. It's certainly less than the cumulative time and effort this thread has spent talking about it.

I would agree with the caveat that it occur organically. This really comes down to a very simple evaluation on a personal level—which do you prefer: equality of opportunity or equality of outcome. How you decide that goes to inform virtually all of your socio-political positions

The fact that many people operate under the incredibly laughable belief that we actually HAVE anything remotely resembling equality of opportunity is part of the problem to begin with.

Once upon a time, I would have been astonished at the lengths people will go to hold onto language not because they actually like it, but because they're offended that somebody else might not want it used. Seriously, if it's such a minor thing to you, and somebody else is bothered by it, then why are you so incapable of basic empathy as to take the minor effort to shift?

And that's aside from the claims of pandering as if it's completely impossible that people putting out the product are incapable of simply independently deciding it's something they don't want to use anymore.

The Fry quote is honestly hilarious to me, because that's exactly what it looks like from the other side- a bunch of people throwing childish whining fits over someone making a minor request. Why are you *so* attached to not just having the *right to* offend people, but to actually doing so?

In regards to the freelancers. Unfortunately they can find other freelancers. If the freelancers stop work they could look for other freelancers and or redistribute work to staff. I surely hope that does not happen.

It's not an "if" they stop work- they already have. A huge amount of content that was already mid-production (in at least one case virtually completely finished) is simply not available to Paizo right now, and if they want to get those products out without convincing the current freelancers to return, they'll have to start those from scratch.

As for finding other ones.... it's a much smaller pool of talent than you might think, especially when it comes to people that can be trusted to reliably put out an acceptable end result. (As for redistributing to staff- most of the internal staff don't even *do the same job* as the freelancers they hire. "Game developer" is not a single, fungible job where you can move any given worker to any given task.)

The people receiving their PDFs are in the "early" set of shipping- the shipping period got shifted back a week, they just haven't updated the post for it for some reason. I wouldn't worry until it gets nearer the 7th.

All fixed and email received! Thanks very much. I think I sent in an email about this issue as well, so if I have one in the email queue feel free to delete it.

Received an email telling me that the payment method on this order was declined and needed to be updated; however while I can add new payment methods to my account, the system doesn't allow me to actually change what payment method is used for the order.

Not particularly useful to tell me I need to update my payment if you're not actually going to let me update the payment, Paizo.

Unfortunate, but not at all unexpected. I tend to tack 6-12 months onto any project completion estimate to begin with, so it's barely even a delay. XD

For what it's worth, at least some of this stuff *has* been taken to heart- I can't recall if it was in a Q&A devoted to game questions or during one of their Kingmaker twitch streams, but it was mentioned that one of the APG items is a shield specifically designed to explode and damage the enemy after breaking, priced as a consumable.

Definitely want Permanency back as well, but good news for you! Contingency is in the core rulebook. Not as a ritual, sure, but in the same form 1e had it.

My plan is to let them use Payout GP to level up the NPC performers (to a max of the PCs level) so that if they have a specific NPC they like they can keep them relevant. I haven't nailed down precisely how much it'll cost, but they were open to the idea when I pitched it. My first pass is 5GP per level (as in, level 2 is 10GP, level 3 is 15, so going from 1 to 3 costs 25).

Thanks for the update- and also for the hard work, I can't imagine manually sending out that many entries was a particularly fun task. :-(

And I'm not trying to sound harsh, but when something is a full primary product sold independently of what it's bundled with, passing it off as *just* a perk is arguing in bad faith with semantics... and that even if it weren't, it *still* isn't an unreasonable expectation for it to be available by at least the time it's publicly available.

You definitely shouldn’t handwave it away as a nonissue. It’s an issue and I wasn’t attempting to dismiss anyone’s perspective.

There’s just a reason behind how things are that many may be unaware of (the “why don’t we all get PDFs at the first day of the shipping window?” question comes up a lot).

I quoted you, but I didn’t mean it to come off as a challenge - sorry if that’s how it sounded.

I was more offering some perspective into the discussion from someone who has placed a thousand orders, (with over a hundred of them subscriptions). Based on my sample, the system works pretty well, even if there are the occasional unlucky runs of three delayed months in a row from time to time. I also personally think it’s improving over the long term - something that’s hard to see for those who maybe signed up at PF2’s launch. (Again not directed at you specifically but more just words into the general hubbub of conversation).

I appreciate the clarification, and I'm sorry my reply was that hostile in tone.

I guess... when I really concentrate on what's bugging me about all this, it's not even that the stuff is late. It's that even when the system is *working*, items that could be delivered with near-perfect consistency of date- the PDFs- aren't. I'm aware that getting all the shipping labels printed and attached and orders sent out is a massive enough undertaking that it'd be silly to want a very short timeframe, but the PDFs.... I would happily accept getting those on release date if their delivery were separate and we could expect them with complete consistency ON the release date. The current system where we can get them one to two weeks early is... nice, but the *possibility* of it taking this long when *physical* shipping has issues is just baffling.

If you have a subscription to something that has instant delivery, then it should be delivered by *at least* the day it's publicly available, regardless of issues with the other items. That's not an unreasonable expectation.

So, any word on what the revised revised revised revised end shipping date is?

I'm all for patience, but it's honestly kind of ridiculous that we can't even be guaranteed to get *DIGITAL ITEMS* by the day they're released.
They could guarantee that. They don’t, by choice - it was always been an aim that subscribers get their books and PDFs “on or about” streetdate.

Well, that's sort of the point for this one here, now isn't it? We're not at "on or about" street date, we're at "it's past street date and it hasn't even shipped".

Like... I get that there were concerns over how it would shake out, yeah, and that's valid, but it's not enough to just handwave away the fact that we're subscribed to a product that is publicly and instantly available but haven't received. That's something that should *not* just be passed off as "oh well, that's the way things are! :3 :3 :3"

The other option is street date.

If it came with a free PDF, I'd be seriously considering just going with that.

Christ, I appreciate getting updated at the very least, but I'm starting to get really tired of hearing "Sorry, we have had ANOTHER technical issue" over and over. At this point I'm starting to wonder why y'all even bother putting up an "end shipping date" entry, if it's this much of a guess.

Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber; Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Mine is listed as "time in transit 4-5 days, previously 1-5 days", with shipping date still 'pending' XD

I'm solidly on track to get my books on street date

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for knowing that some people have their *physical books* before we get even a PDF. x_x

Managed to contact CS over the phone, issue resolved.

Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber; Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

All three orders are showing up as 0 items in my order history. For Order 10052214 and Order 10713155 this isn't too big a deal, since I was properly charged and had the items added to my account, but Order 10708216 is a very large order of physical items that I *need* to be able to keep an eye on. So far I've posted in the sticky regarding this kind of issue, with no response; sent in a direct email, also no response; and, just now, phoned in during listed customer services hours, only to be redirected to an automated message listing the hours and asked to leave a message. This is getting downright ridiculous.

Any further movement on this? Haven't heard back either here or from an email sent in regarding it. One of the orders is a fairly large one that I actually need to keep track of for financial reasons.

Order 10708216 & Order 10052214

Both cases, didn't disappear from the cart, but from the order list under my account after purchase.

So there's a solid chance the shipment won't arrive until significantly past the street date? That's... disappointing. :-/
