Stop worrying Sam, you made the top three.

Nice going Wolin! It's not a bad spell list, at least.

Any news yet concerning the Harrow Medium? Here. Thanks!
Here's hoping they can make room for it. I knew it was a fool's hope to have it before Strange Aeons; I'll just have to go with something else.

She's made some fair points.

This thread is for everybody playing, watching, or curious about the Shadow of Ascanor games. All of the concepts that were submitted to the game impressed me to the point where I wanted to see each character's story unfold, so instead of leaving anyone out, I split them into two games.
It's interesting to see how the groups have already started to differ in their approach to the game with their introductory posts, and I love both. I feel like I'm running a Vincent Price double feature!

Male NE Varisian Vexing Daredevil 3 | HP: 22 | AC: 17 (13 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMD: 15 | F: +3 R: +7 W: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +7 SM: +7 | Active conditions: |
Background: Born of a guildsman father and an old-blooded noble, Marris has known only resentment from his large maternal family. Gifted an insatiable ambition and curiosity, Marris turned the ire of his family against them and learned the dark secrets of his “noble” lineage. He lives under the name of his father, and vows to make that name synonymous with his dread power.
Appearance: Marris dresses finely, his dark beard is sharply cut and his balding hair kept short. Built tall and firm, he surprisingly favors unconventional weapons like the rope dart and cane sword. His most striking features are his grey-blue eyes that appear to burn with some unquenchable inner-fire.

Now, a different question for whoever will answer: the Battle Host occultist archetype allows you to bond with a suit of armor, right?
I was thinking a Battle Host would make a pretty good Graveknight. Can the Battle Host use heavy armor?
He can indeed.

Maybe all of you will. I'm a second row fighter in magic armor, I'll have plenty of time to strategically retreat and inform your soon to be grieving families. It's a sad burden to bear, but I will do it for you, because it's the least you deserve, dearest of friends I've only met briefly in the underground.

I confess to not liking halflings and gnomes because they remind me of Kender, and I hate Kender.
I'll also confess to loving Steampunk once.

In the future I would like to see a medium archetype where you only have access to a single spirit.

Wolin wrote: That sounds like a cool idea! It sounds like it's different enough to be a potentially tough job, but I'm up for using my limited experience to help out in whatever way I can to try and combine the two.
I'll probably be using my playtest Medium in a campaign for a while yet, so I'll be able to give some input on how the adaptations are going if it goes ahead.
I think I'm imagining Harrowed Medium becoming something along the lines of an Alternate Class like Ninja or Samurai. There will probably be enough things to tinker with that the one-to-one conversion of an archetype won't be easy.
That may be true, I'll post what I come up with soon.
Wolin wrote: Lost: If the murder spree of self defence thing is too good for the lesser spirit power, I'd think that putting it in with the intermediate would be suitable. Not thematically with that name, but it does gives you a reason to trance Lost at lower levels and makes it slightly more satisfying than being slightly hard to find with Divination magic.
I do feel that that's something that needs to make it in though, even if it's not right away.
Thematically, the ability would look best in Insanity Defense. In my opinion, Lost Identity is a great way to play well with others, since this sort of character is leaning toward CE anyway. My biggest problem is with Babble, but it's nice having something to make babbling not suck so much, aside from Azata's Whimsy.

Hey Mark, are the spirit bonuses printed in OA standard going forward? Speaking in relation to the harrow medium of course. I have the same curiosity concerning Spirit Surge.
What I would like to do is jury-rig the playtest medium to incorporate the new material.

Mad World's count as a STR spirit when you roll "attack nearest creature" seems fairly specific, but I would love, LOVE, for it to count when you go on a murder spree of self defense.

Hastur and Groetus are variations on the same thing, except for Hastur being a extrovert and an independent author that surreptitiously leaves copies of his book in your house.
It's there in the source material, if you're willing to look for it. The unknowable is just an excuse to embrace ignorance and let something outside of ourselves take the responsibility of the course of our lives. It's a seductive impulse, and one that humanity is very fond of.
The King is an archetype of human experience, the decision maker, the father. He could be Ulfen or Kellid, from the description. The theme of the character is one of (recent) ancestors guiding the character from beyond the grave, and Ulfen and Kellid blood does run through many of the families in Ustalav. So I conjecture that this King is the "father's father's father" of the character, and represents the CHA based spirits that Erasmus has access to.

Erasmus is a great example of Ustalav's flavor, a delicious flavor at that.
I'm looking forward to the class details that are forthcoming.
